Use our Members’ Area to help win money with FanTeam

Fantasy Football Scout are joining forces with FanTeam in 2019/20, with this latest article looking at some of the key stats in our Members’ Area that could help you win big.

There’s a whopping €250,000 in prizes on offer with FanTeam this season, with €50,000, €25,000 and €12,000 going to the Fantasy managers who finish first, second and third respectively.

It’s not just those with a podium finish who are handsomely rewarded.

A top-20 finish guarantees a four-figure sum, while FanTeam even pays out if you are among the first 1,250 managers in the world.

FanTeam is also offering additional weekly and monthly prizes to sweeten the deal.

The full prize breakdown is as follows:

Competing on multiple fronts in the Fantasy world can be a time-consuming and difficult task, particularly when the rules differ drastically from one game to the next.

The beauty of FanTeam is that the scoring rules and player price structure are very similar to Fantasy Premier League, give or take the odd small difference.

Seasoned FPL managers should have no problem in adjusting to FanTeam and running a squad, then, with its familiar scoring system.

For those who consider themselves dab hands at FPL and want to reap the rewards from their expertise, FanTeam offers a real opportunity for a cash windfall.

The familiar-looking scoring system is as follows:

In the remainder of this piece, we will look at some of the Members’ Area tools you can use to help you make informed decisions on your squad.

Goal Threat

The points awarded for goals scored by outfielders in FanTeam are the same as they are in FPL: four for strikers, five for midfielders and six for defenders.

Fantasy managers can access a whole host of underlying goal threat statistics in our Members’ Area, two examples of which – accessed via the Goal Threat and Expected tabs in Player Stats – are given below:

Above: midfielders ranked by attempts on goal in the last four Gameweeks of 2018/19.

Above: midfielders ranked by expected goals (xG) in the last four Gameweeks of 2018/19.

With there being no Bonus Points System in FanTeam, Mohamed Salah is arguably even more attractive – the Egyptian is famously not well rewarded by bonus in FPL, so would seem to be at a distinct advantage in FanTeam given that he wouldn’t be punished for chancing his arm and missing the target or being dispossessed when dribbling. The more shots being taken, the better.

Assist Potential

As in FPL, three points are awarded to those players who register orthodox assists or Fantasy assists.

Subscribers to our Members’ Area can look at Opta’s underlying creativity numbers to see which players are most likely to deliver assists in the future.

Two examples of which – accessed via the Distribution and Expected tabs in Player Stats – are given below:

Above: defenders ranked by chances created in the last four Gameweeks of 2018/19.

Above: defenders ranked by expected assists (xA) in the last four Gameweeks of 2018/19.

Goalkeepers

Saves are rewarded even more with FanTeam than they are in FPL. Every save earns a goalkeeper 0.5 points, so there is no ‘multiple of three’ rule here.

However, the point awarded/deducted for a player being on the winning/losing side (while still on the pitch) is a significant factor in FanTeam, as is the lack of bonus.

Alisson and Ederson both scored more in FanTeam than they did in FPL, while the likes of Lukasz Fabianski and Ben Foster scored less.

A goalkeeper who plays for a successful team and can rack up some saves is the ideal mix, then.

Alisson made more saves than Ederson and kept more clean sheets, for example.

The table below from our Members’ Area ranks Premier League goalkeepers by saves in 2018/19, with David de Gea standing out – if Manchester United’s defence can improve on their clean sheet count this season, then the Spanish international – so often called upon even when the Red Devils are in form – could have a Fantasy renaissance this season.

Above: goalkeepers ranked by saves in 2018/19.

We will have more FanTeam content between now and the start of Gameweek 1.

After days still on this team. Zinchenko is qustionable, but the rest looks fine:

    Pope (Button)
    VVD, TAA, Digne, Zinchenko (Lundstram)
    Salah, Sterling, Siggy, Perez (Dendonky)
    Wilson, Deulofeu (Greenwood)

Personally would go Fraser and Walker rather than Siggy and Zin but can see why you prefer what you have

Do people think complacency could hurt Liverpool. Not just from the board, manager but could it impact the players?

No fresh faces, there's been a saying the best time to strengthen is when you are on top

Could, but the fact that they failed to win the PL should spur them. These friendlies don't answer any questions.

I mean, I’d agree, I want to see a player come in that makes a few people look over their shoulder and say “best keep my performances up”.

Not asking for a 70 million signing but someone who actively pushes and has quality to make a difference.

No, i think they will mature more as a team. Some big characters in the group vvd, milner, Henderson. They will not let them rest on their laurels They will go close again imho.

Dybala wants to stay at Juve but for the right price anything is for sale, they are going to entertain offers and if the price is right then Dymbala will move imo.

Not sure why United fans are happy about a player joining who clearly would prefer not to.

I know he's a good player, but there was a time when every player dreamed of playing for United, now it seems they just go for the £400k a week.

But wouldn't you rather have someone who wants to play for you? Rather than someone being forced out of their club, and used as a makeweight?

              • 8 Years

I'm sure he wouldn't join the club if he doesn't want to play for us.

Let's see what the real wages are I think you're exaggerating about 400k. 250k is the rumour and he's probably worth that much.

Yeah I've no idea on the wages, just plucking a figure from the air.

But my point is the same, if I was a club as big as Man United, I'd want players who wanted to be there, not ones that joined reluctantly as part of a forced swap deal

You can't force a player to move to a club they don't want to join. Preferring Option A doesn't mean hating Option B. If he didn't want to go to Utd but knew he was being pushed out the door he could force Juve to find him a different club to join.

This is exactly what I'm trying to explain to the guy above. These guys think he doesn't want to come to United but his agent is coming to meet United just to listen to offers.

                  Am I the guy above?

To be clear, I'm talking from a fans point of view, and you guys are fans so you tell me.
From what I've seen reported Dybala wants to stay at Juve and fight for his place, but Juve want Lukaku, and can't afford him without sending Dybala to OT. At this point shouldn't United fans say forget it, if you don't want to play for us, don't, we're a big enough club not to need to beg players to join us.

If something leaked about a conversation he had saying "I really don't want to play for Utd" then I'd totally agree with you. But that isn't the case, all we know if he would like to fight for his place where he is.

I just don't see anything wrong with someone wanting to stay where they are and fight for a place in a team that's competing to win the CL with the likes of Ronaldo and MDL in the squad.

That shows massive self belief and determination to succeed and something that our squad could really do with, combined with his talent. Where ever he goes after Juve I have no doubt he'll apply that fight and desire. If he comes to us and can apply himself then I'm delighted to have him in our squad.

Yeah, that's cool, I've no doubt in his ability, I just remember a time all the best players in the world would want to join United, not go there because they were no longer wanted by a better team.

Mate I pine for those times again! Reality is we've massively slipped down the European pecking order since Fergie retired and it will take some major sustained improvements to results to climb back up it. If reports that Spurs were inquiring about him are true and we sign him I'll take that as a minor victory haha.

I have a soft spot for United, I grew up at the time the class of '92 were coming through, remember staying up to watch MOTD and seeing the 'you'll never win anything with kids' line live.

I thought United had moved back towards that, with the signings of James, and Wan Bissaka, and Greenwood, Chong, etc being involved in preseason.

I get the impression that players like Sanchez, Pogba, Di Maria etc only joined United because they were one of only a handful of clubs who could pay them the money/wages their agents demanded for them, rather than actually wanting to play for Manchester United.

I think money was certainly a part of it, but the bigger problem is lack of vision from our board. Moyes might have inherited a title winning team, but the reality was it was a team in need of rebuilding. I think the boards handling of Fellaini's transfer and paying more than his clause kind of sum up our transfer policy since then.

Money certainly attracted some big names but I don't doubt they also wanted success. We've been a team 'rebuilding' for 6 or 7 years now and never seem to have a coherent plan of how to achieve that.

OGS bringing in pressing football and a youth policy is probably the biggest paradigm shift we've seen since Fergie left but as of yet I don't see the board matching OGS ambition. I don't really feel they've matched any managers ambitions to date.

They've spent an awful lot for sure, but haven't ever really patched the holes in the squad that need patching. We've needed someone for the RW forever & the board bought Sanchez at a time when Martial & Rashford were rotating really well on the LW, baffling.

Any big name player must look at potential transfers to us and see alarm bells going off. If we come out of this window with a RB (tick), CB, RW we'll have patched a few big holes in our squad and potentially start to show a cohesive rebuilding plan rather than alarm bells. If OGS can improve on how we played last year and show us developing then I think next summer we'll be in a much stronger position trying to attract the right types of players we need for the right reasons and not just $$$.

                        Lots of IFs in there.

How important do you think having price points in your team are?

For example I have Josh King at present plus other cheap strikers who start in their teams. If a Wilson, Haller or Kean explode I would probably need to take a hit to bring them in.

So is it better to get Wilson who can be changed easily but have a potentially non playing sub?

Listening back to some old Meet the Manager interviews and some feel price points are crucial.

if they explode ignore it. over the course of the season if you stick with premium mids and dont make stupid captian choices youll be fine
