Southampton are one of the most overlooked teams in Fantasy Premier League as Gameweek 1 draws ever nearer.

Only one of the Saints’ FPL assets is owned by more than 2.5% of managers: Shane Long (£5.0m), who, barring injuries, is expected to be among the substitutes when Southampton run out at Turf Moor this Saturday.

While the south coast club’s fixtures are a horror show between Gameweeks 7 and 13 (all of the sides they face in this period finished in the top nine last season), there are some more appealing encounters with Burnley, Brighton, Sheffield United and Bournemouth in the first half-dozen Gameweeks.

Pre-season results are not always a reliable barometer but the Saints are unbeaten in five matches this summer, winning four of them.

New signing Che Adams (£6.0m) has arguably been the stand-out performer, with three goals and two assists.

Is there anything to encourage Fantasy investment in the first six Gameweeks, then?

In this latest Numbers Game article, we take a slightly different approach to the series template and instead focus on the impact Ralph Hasenhuttl has made on Southampton following his appointment in December 2018.

Hows this would you change anything?

    Heaton,
    Robertson, vvd, coleman, Cathcart
    Salah(c), barkley, tielemans, sterling
    Kane(vc), king

    Bench, button, dunk, Dendoncker, greenwood

Pretty strong for a Salah, Sterling and Kane team! Perez over Tielmans for me, Barkley could be gold but also a rotation risk. Other than that it's good 🙂

Thanks guys, much prefer tielemans to perez, only thing thats worryn me tho is i feel like he'l play perez up along side vardy, with the pre season barkley as had, surley he has to be the first name on the team sheet

Chelsea and Liverpool go head-to-head in the Super Cup on 14th August in Istanbul. Need we be concerned about potential rotation in GW2?

(3 days later Pool go to Soton, with Chelsea home to Leicester on the Sunday).

The problem is, and I don't have the answer, the sponsors and TV companies probably contractually require both sides put out a strong team. They can play it at an exhibition pace, but the players have to show up.

Just a few days ago there was a huge ruc in Korea when Ronaldo decided he didn't fancy playing the second half of a friendly despite the contract obliging him to.

    After more tinkering.

    Lloris
    Stevens Robo Trent
    Robinson Salah KDB Perez Lucas
    Wesley Aubam
    (Stek, Diop, Rico, Greenwood)

Thoughts? GW3 thinking Aubam and Lucas change maybe. Wouldn't be too difficult to get Sterling in.

Playing the draft game for the first time this year.

Any initial tips to prepare for the draft and season ahead?

    1. Jarnathan
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 1 month ago

Concentrate on centre forwards first. Get at least 1 (maybe 2 depending on who is available in midfield) as the first picks, because there simply aren't many of them.

Then concentrate on populating the midfield. Get maybe 3~4 midfielders and then work your way to defenders.

Also populate the list to begin with on your preferred options.

Don't make a draft too close to the opening day - the system will crash.

Hi guys, think this is me.
Going without Salah, just because I think Sterling and Kane are better options and will score more. Gone for a strong bench which is not popular around here, with the aim of rotating the likes of Ings,Wesley,Fraser,Lanzini,Pope,Heaton for their hard fixtures as well as having a strong option off the bench for inevitable rotations. Strongly believe that will add a ton of points and be more worthwhile then using the spare 2m to upgrade my team. In saying that, if it doesn’t go to plan or I money to hope onto someone in that 8.0-9.5 mil bracket then I’m only 2 transfers away.

    Would love your thoughts,

    Heaton
    TAA VVD Digne
    Sterling Moura Fraser Lanzini Tielemens
    Kane (C) Ings

Thoughts on City defence? I've been on Zinchenko for weeks but slowly going off the idea.

First two fixtures are tricky and the defence seems a little uncertain.

    Options are:
    A) Zin & Robinson
    B) 4.5 & Barkley + 0.5 ITB for King > Kean in a couple of weeks if looks good
