Captain Poll

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is expected to be the most popular captain going into Gameweek 1 of the new season.

His Liverpool side play host to newly-promoted Norwich City on Friday night.

The Canaries were particularly leaky at the back last season, even as they won promotion from the Championship.

Their goals conceded tally (57) in 2018/19 was the worst inside the top four and only four teams recorded worse than that in the division’s top 12.

By contrast, Manchester City were the only Premier League team (57) to score more than Liverpool in home matche last year (55).

With Sadio Mané‘s (£11.5m) involvement in Gameweek 1 hard to guarantee, Salah seems to be the obvious candidate to benefit from such an appealing opening fixture.

Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) could be an interesting difference-maker as Manchester City prepare for a trip to West Ham.

The Hammers could be without Mark Noble (£5.0m) and Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) in Gameweek 1 which would make them more vulnerable than they already are to the defending champions.

Manchester City scored four times on their last league visit to the London Stadium, with Sterling notching a goal and two assists.

The England international will also be in good spirits after scoring against Liverpool in the Community Shield final on Sunday.

Harry Kane (£11.0m) is also pulling some support in ahead of Gameweek 1 as Spurs prepare for a meeting with Aston Villa.

No forward had more shots on target than Kane last season.

You can now vote in the latest captain poll below, which will be used in our Captain Sensible analysis article later in the week.

Please RMT! Do we really need both Salah and Sterling?

    Lloris
    TAA, Coleman, Zinchenko
    Sterling, Siggy, Fraser, Gross
    Vardy, Wilson, Wood

    Subs: Barkley, Taylor (Burnley), Dunk

Gross is an uncertain starter. No Mo could work but that’s an awful lot of weight you’re putting on Fraser Wilson Siggy

Having both gives a guaranteed captain pretty much every week but does leave a weak front line. Personally prefer the guaranteed captain points and a few punts up top

    How this looks?

    Heaton
    Robbo - TAA - Zinchenko - Digne
    Salah - Sterling - Bilva - Fraser - Perez
    King

Everything else looks fine for me but not so sure about Bilva. Would Siggy or Pulisic be better pick?

    Fraser, Perez, Sigi, Salah, Sterling

No playing subs - if Zaha goes to Everton will downgrade Sigi to him then upgrade Zinchenko to Laporte - thoughts please?

Generally is good. I like the Auba and Moura starting picks.

I think defence is too weak personally.

Maybe downgrade McGinn to upgrade Taylor?

Think I’d want 1 BOU attack to start.

Long won't ever play so might as well be a 4.5m striker and then can upgrade Kelly to a playing 4.5m defender so you have 2 subs rather than 1 for same price

    A) Zinch/Stones & Fraser (442)
    B) Trossard/6.0 & Fraser (352)

Just said earlier I realise it can be frustrating and ive gone with a set and forget in the past but i think the ease of those fixtures between Villa and Burnley justify it. Also the extra 0.5m changing from say Ederson and Button can be vital early in the season. Flappyhandski and Button might be a better set and forget though? Dunno.

Still think rotation is a viable option. Most who are against it just remembers the few gameweeks it went wrong and forgets about the gameweeks it was worth the .5.

Set and forget for me. It's just not worth the pain of leaving points on the bench when your other keeper hauls.

    Which team looks the best?:

    A)

    Ederson / Button

    Robertson/VVD/Holebas/Guilbert/Rico
    Sterling/Salah/Tielemans/B Silva/Dendoncker
    King/Jota/Deulofeu

    or

    B)

    Ryan/Button
    VVD/Zinchenko/Coleman/Guilbert/Rico
    Sterling/Salah/Barkley/Perez/Dendoncker
    Kane/King/Jota

I have tried several teams in the RMT tool.
    end result is around 338 - 342.

anybody getting higher returns and wants to share?

      Yes - 350+ on a few.
Just put my current team through and 348 - but could easily manipulate that higher by having eg Ryan instead of Heaton/Pope (Ryan has a higher RMT)

What's the deal with Coleman now Sidibe has signed? Don't get it myself.

    Coleman & Robinson

    Or

    Digne & VVD?

No other Liverpool defenders in the team

    Best 5.5 from these...

    AWB, Zinchenko or Stones?

Or do I stretch to 6m for Walker?

Zinchenko, imo. Anyway, I have him.

      Stones for me

If it’s an easy stretch, i’d rather have Walker.

    I am 99% settled?!?!?!

    Pope

    VVD, Digne, Rico

    Sterling, Salah, Moura, Robinson

    Aubameyang, King, Wood

    Heaton, Dunk, Dendonker, Lundstram

I think it gives me a bit of flex, any obvious issues?

Personally just not a fan of 3 11m+ players but out of the teams that go for it it looks good.

    Almost there I think...
    Team A
    Heaton
    ZINCHENKO Robbo TAA Digne
    Perez BARKLEY Sterling Salah
    Wilson Haller
    Button Dendoncker Greenwood Montoya

    Team B
    Pope
Robbo VVD Digne Guilbert (with rotate with Montoya)
    FRASER Sterling Perez Salah
    Wilson Haller
    *Same bench as A*
