Captain Poll

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is expected to be the most popular captain going into Gameweek 1 of the new season.

His Liverpool side play host to newly-promoted Norwich City on Friday night.

The Canaries were particularly leaky at the back last season, even as they won promotion from the Championship.

Their goals conceded tally (57) in 2018/19 was the worst inside the top four and only four teams recorded worse than that in the division’s top 12.

By contrast, Manchester City were the only Premier League team (57) to score more than Liverpool in home matche last year (55).

With Sadio Mané‘s (£11.5m) involvement in Gameweek 1 hard to guarantee, Salah seems to be the obvious candidate to benefit from such an appealing opening fixture.

Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) could be an interesting difference-maker as Manchester City prepare for a trip to West Ham.

The Hammers could be without Mark Noble (£5.0m) and Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) in Gameweek 1 which would make them more vulnerable than they already are to the defending champions.

Manchester City scored four times on their last league visit to the London Stadium, with Sterling notching a goal and two assists.

The England international will also be in good spirits after scoring against Liverpool in the Community Shield final on Sunday.

Harry Kane (£11.0m) is also pulling some support in ahead of Gameweek 1 as Spurs prepare for a meeting with Aston Villa.

No forward had more shots on target than Kane last season.

You can now vote in the latest captain poll below, which will be used in our Captain Sensible analysis article later in the week.

Just about to make same comment re Brighton. Is Trossard likely on corners? All the options here look very dubious for regular starts.

Not a lot of good 4.5m options this year and Bednarak will pretty much always be on my bench anyway.
West Ham are even worse defensively, Potter no track record for clean sheets for Brighton, Watford rotation and Palace could collapse without AWB. Southampton seemed 2nd best option after Burnley

This is the one thing that's making squad selection tough.

541 or 451 are easily the best formations based on player value and a lack of good striker options but it leaves you with a terrible bench with 2 barely playing sub strikers.

442 offers more flexibility and 2 decent subs instead of 1. It would mean picking a 6.0-6.5 to partner Wilson and then switching to whoever turns out to be the best option after a couple of GW's. If I have to pick one, I'm leaning towards Barnes. Was considering Del but he's might be carrying an injury.

    A) Robinson + King (4th mid and 3rd forward) allows me to float between 4-4-3 and 4-4-2
    B) Fraser + Greenwood locks me into to 4-4-2 but stronger midfield

    1. moz_1983
      • 14 Years

B marginally, but I don't get the hate King gets. He's a decent player who only frustrates those who don't own Wilson.

    A) Siggy, KDB, Kane, King

It’s one of my punts especially with no Kane. If he grabs a goal at home and plays well with a possible goal it assist at City then I think it would also be a bit unfair to drop him straight away for Son.

Think so. Giroud can only be considered off the bench while Batshuayi's finishing is dreadful. Could all change in a few GWs but Tammy is easily the first choice at the moment.

That's what I've gone for. Just swapped Sigurdsson for B Silva

Everton scored 2 goals all preseason inc 1 against Kariobangi Sharks

I have 1.0m in the bank. Where can I upgrade? Or should I save it?

    Pope
    Robbo / VVD / Digne / Zinch
    Salah / Sterling / Fraser / Perez
    Wilson / Wesley

    Button / Lunds / Dend / Greenwood

Is doubling up on Leicester really a good idea? Fixtures are ranked one of the worst for the first 6 or so GWs. I personally think Wilson will outscore Vardy for the first 6 GWs

          As La Roux said

this time baby Vards will be fixture proof

Not bad but please don't play Diop GW1 for your sanity and I'm not fan of Alisson given their defenders

Alonso not starting. Alisson waste of a pool slot. Jiminez potentially injured.

I know Jiminez is injured, but he may play, and he's not expensive, why aren't people picking him?
