Tottenham Hotspur players are causing some Fantasy Premier League managers dilemmas at the start of the season.

They have a favourable opening fixture at home to Aston Villa but with a trip to Manchester City in Gameweek 2 and relatively expensive price points, their assets could be the ones to miss out on those initial teams.

However, there are some encouraging reasons to own some of Mauricio Pochettino’s players at the start of the new campaign.

In this article we assess Spurs’ defensive and attacking potential based on last season’s underlying statistics.

As this analysis uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

Has there been a proper analysis of Doosra’s Stats? To see if there is anything meaningful to be taken from them?

I see the strings getting posted a lot but haven’t seen anything backing them up.

      Fair play if they’re useful...

Every week there's a follow up on the previous weeks predictions. The numbers are a great guideline, but it's a funny aul game football!

Liverpool defence is such a nice safety net in GW1 - they should do well

Even if Laporte doesn't make it I can't see the bookies changing the odds significantly.

The most movement I've seen over the last 2 weeks (or so) has been Arsenal who were originally given a CS % of 28% and are now 32% 🙂

Yeah I'd say its a subjective thing - I do a lot of matched betting and a 4% change in odds is HUGE - dollar signs flashing everywhere 🙂

Whereas for a normal punter or a mug punter it's possibly not as significant

That doesn't tend to be how it works. After the market opens, the bookies pretty much follow the money

          • 16 Years
          6 years, 11 months ago

You'd imagine the smart money on the exchanges would be for City to concede though if Laporte isn't playing

We often see similar jumps in bookies odds when suprise team news hits, particularly around champions league knockout stages

Its an arbitrage bettor's dream for those few minutes while the bookies are still adjusting their prices but the exchanges lay odds are almost instantly reflective of the news - as the exchange odds are generally more efficient than the bookies

            • 8 Years
            6 years, 11 months ago

I’d beg to differ. The smart money would be second guessing this.

Absence of Laporte would suggest people bet on City to concede. Smart money would be backing them to keep a clean sheet once the price drifts and believing that Pep’s philosophy will keep the clean sheet and not Laporte.

            1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
              • 16 Years
              6 years, 11 months ago

If the pre-team news price for city to keep a clean sheet assumes Laporte starts... Laporte missing out would mean that price is offering too much value - that value would be snapped up on the exchanges, which starts the domino effect to which the bookies would need to react adjusting their odds or risking being arbed...

It happens regularly enough with match win odds around team news releases 1 hour prior to KO - you'll just get banned fairly sharpish by the bookies if they see you making a habit of taking those arbs - they don't want winning customers

*pre team news price for City TO CONCEDE obvs not vice versa - you know what I mean 🙂

Exactly . It's the same as stock traders . It will be money from the vast number of mug punters which forces the prices after the initial book. Then the traders get to work to shore up liabilities and enhance profitable positions. The punters who win long term bet on value alone.

I don’t get the Alisson pick. I’d much rather have vvd instead of dunk, Pope or Heaton in goals. (You’d have to find .5 to do so). Or Digne to vvd and Alisson to Pope/Heaton which will give you funds.

Out of those options C looks good.

Best comment. I dropped Alisson for DDG (fixtures easy after CHE), and upgraded Digne to VVD.

And took B. Silva to Sterling. Now to find a 7M forward, strongly debating Kean and just holding him because he’s gotta start after 30M spent eh

When should I start to panic? I feel no closer to a final team or any sense of confidence. I swear last season there were more relevant scout articles leading up to kickoff - like current budget keeper articles with rotation for example. I keep waiting for FFS to solve all my problems! 😉

    FINAL DRAFT. G2G?

    Pope (Heaton)
    TAA VVD Digne Cathcart
    Salah Sterling Moura Fraser Perez
    Wilson

    Bench all fodder

you need at least 2 bench players who play, and if theyre too cheap youll be stuck with them or forced to take hits to move someone around

Same front six but I will probably have a 4.5 bench defender for sanity
You could do the same bu dropping a keeper or Signe to Coleman
What your plan are all of Moura Wilson and Fraser going pretty quick or just Moura. If Spurs make some rumoured signings I am getting rid of Moura

If Erikson were gone on Thursday, would you still have Kane in your team?

Pickford or Lloris? Which one would you pick? Currently, think these two are the best 'set & forget' options apart from Ederson and Allison.

I think there's nothing between them at the mo, but both teams slightly unsettled with injuries and/or losing key defenders so id look elsewhere for the first few gws.

      Sterling is the reason why.

We're unsure about his involvement for GW1, and going forward most cant afford with Sterling and Salah in their team. Could be a great differential pick (amongst committed FPL players) if he starts off hot.
