FanTeam

Our selection for FanTeam’s seven-man Pursuit Mode

The Premier League returned with a bang in midweek, with goals in one match and controversy in the other.

Saturday’s fixtures may have to work hard in order to match that hype. But Europe’s largest daily Fantasy Football provider, FanTeam, are holding a huge contest to keep the interest high.

Their feature main event of the weekend will be the €100,000 GPP contest, which has a massive first-place prize of €20,000.

The seven-a-side contest will cover the four Premier League games being played tomorrow, starting with Watford vs. Leicester City at 12:30 BST and running through to the late fixture between Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

The two matches in between feature Brighton hosting Arsenal and West Ham taking on Wolves.

For Fantasy managers used to playing only FPL, it’s not just the seven-man teams that mark the contest out as something different.

The event will be played in Pursuit Mode, which adds a whole new layer of Fantasy strategy.

Pursuit Mode means you will have absolutely no problem stuffing your team with big-name, big-money players because the overall budget is so high.

But being frugal with that budget conveys a major advantage, because the more you come in under-budget, the bigger the head start you’ll get. Why? Because you earn 0.05 points for each 0.1m saved.

That might not sound like much, but in the draft of the team I’ve been tinkering with today, the savings I’ve made equate to a head start of nearly six points.

It’s also one of the reasons I’m considering Brighton’s bargain basement midfielder Solly March, but more of that is tomorrow’s article.

Another key rule to remember is the Stacking Penalty, which means that if you decide to double (or even triple) up on defenders from the same team, you’ll receive fewer points for every extra player you select.

And the other major budgetary issue that needs mentioning is that your captain, as per, scores you double points. But as a result, he’ll cost you twice as much as his stated price, while vice-captains cost 1.5x more and bring in 1.5x the points.

All of that should make for a fascinating Fantasy challenge.

And as a special welcome offer, those who join FanTeam today and deposit €20 will get a free €20 entry to the €100,000 Premier League Main Event.

That’s nice work when you could win €20,000.

Im literally the last comment on the previous article, sorry!

    Lads, any thoughts appreciated.

    Should I play:
    a) WC GW 31+ and FH GW38+
    or
    b) FH GW31+ and WC GW33+

    Team for GW32+ would be:

    Leno (NOR)
Doherty (av) PVA (BUR) One of Lund, Stevens, Baldock (TOT)
KDB (LIV) Mount (wh) Grealish (WOL)* Mahrez (LIV)*
Aguero (LIV)* Jota (av) Aubameyang (NOR)

Nyland, El Ghazi, Two SHU defenders

*I can sell some of them for a hit if needed.
    Currently on b).

    Thanks!

Agree on this I am thinking the same but be careful of the prices rises and droppers... free hit to do not benefit fro risers but when you WC you may not be able to afford certain players.

likely 0.2/0.3 but worth thinking about

      No DCL?

Pondering double United attack but SU rarely cave - I know JOC and Hendo are missing but still.

Another point is Mo and Mane statistically never haul together. Pick both and you get one but you also get one premium disappointment

Depends how your teams set up I guess.

I’m going now as it’s my one chance to own Liverpool pre 33. I suppose if you’re heavily invested in City Liverpool then 32 is an option

Im wary of playing it late when fixtures come thick and fast as lost minutes and rotation I suspect will increase.

The defensive play is just to wait and see for injuries to pile up. Aggressive is to go early

After using FH for this week, I was planning to WC right away but my team did not look that bad (except Ryan). What do you think? Would you WC or wait at least one more week? (I have BB as well if that matters)

    Ryan
    TAA Soyuncu Lascelles
    Salah (C) Mane KDB Barnes
    Jimi Ings DCL

    Button Stephens Stevens Dendo
    1 FT, 3.3 ITB

(If I do not WC, I will bring one of Bruno/Rashford/Son based on this week's performance)

    1) FH to something like this:
    Pope (3.9)
    TAA, Doherty, Maguire, (Lascelles, 4.1/Robinson)
    Salah, Son, Bruno, Saint-Maximin (4.3)
    Kane, Jimenez, DCL

    2) WC a more long-term team, but with less information

    3) Stay and save both FH and WC. Do 1-2 transfers. Team ATM:
    Leno/Nyland
    Taa, Saiss, Lunstram, Lascelles (Egan)
    KDB, Mahrez, Grealish (Mount, Duda)
    Kun, Aua, Jimenez

Will Salah and Mane be rested a lot once Liverpool mathematically win the title?
How has the trend been in past seasons? Do teams generally play a lot of young players once they've officially won the title?

I expect a lot of 60-70' appearances but not much of a missing out completely, maybe 1 or 2, games will be coming thick and fast but not much else will cause rotation for them.

There's a lot of fixtures so I'd be surprised if they played them all.

I think it's sensible to think klopp will give other members of the squad a chance

They won't be completely rested but may miss a few games (basically more than usual)

However klopp will need to make some key decisions next season so what better way to see how some players do in a competitive league game. No point flogging the same players every week

They have to take into consideration the integrity of the league and that other teams are impacted by what Liverpool do.

This year could be different though. If they’ve got the league wrapped up and new season potentially starting mid-Sep, then rest players and watch everyone else slug it out until July/Aug. Puts them in a strong position for next season, which can’t over-run due to the Euros. Also worth bearing in mind that Salah and Mane could feature in the AFCON if it goes ahead as planned in Jan 2021.

I think Klopp might experiment with the big guns in different variations. If he wants to go back to trying a 4-2-3-1 with Salah up front, he has a unique opportunity to try it in pressure-free games against competitive teams.

And if he just tries to give more experience to the youngsters, TAA is 21 and Gomez is 23 (and has played fewer than 5,000 minutes in the Premier League), so a defensive double-up could be the big winner.

Torn between these two options on WC! Help appreciated :

    A) Saiss, Lascelles, DCL
    B) Doherty, Fernandez, Nketiah

    Pope, Martin
TAA, XXXX, Maguire/ AWB, XXXX, Robinson
    Salah, KDB, Son, Bruno, Cantwell
    Rash, Jimi, XXXX

I’m currently on A and I think it gives more flexibility and DCL was in good form before the break but the appeal of Doherty’s much higher ceiling and the fact that Arteta seems to rate Nketiah means B actually has quite a good bench.

Mane, more ruthless and has performed well in the friendlies. Salah is more expensive and has had a lot of injury issues this year

      Golden Boot Mo

But really there's been nothing between them for over a year now.

Salah having penalties is making the decision for me. If Milner was a regular first team then it would definitely be Mane for me.

Tonight is going to be crucial as I'll definitely want to have a Spurs player in my team long-term but I can't decide which yet.

A game against Man Utd might not be the best to assess them, but they should do well vs. West Ham next week and it may be wise to get on them early.

Son it is anyway. Alli is not playing next match, so that is also an issue.

Jota with Jimmi? Maybe not. Pukki for sure

Cant afford Sarr so who do you like of these 2 for final midfield spot in a 5 man team

    St Maximin / Doucure

Out of them two Doucoure but I would try to get Sarr.

Maybe Barnes? But I like Sarr and I would find a way of getting him. Same value as Grealish

I’m still liking the 5 in midfield... thoughts?

    Hendo
    TAA Doherty Lascelles (Egan, Taylor)
    KDB Son Bruno Mane Grealish
    Vardy Jimi (Nketieh)

    (Vardy/Rashy depending on performance)

Looks great, I'd personally have Rashford over Vardy but maybe because I'm a manutd fan

Thanks. If I have Rashford, I have room to upgrade striker instead, so could have Pukki/DCL etc instead of 5th midfielder

On wildcard, how is this looking?

    Pope
    TAA Doherty Maguire Lascelles
    Son Mane KDB Bruno
    Rashy Jimenez

    Martin - Holgate Nketiah Guendouzi

Holgate and Lascelles will rotate in and out of the team, going for a bench where all bench players should get minutes but still dirt cheap

    Which player probably scores more?

    A) KdB (che, LIV) + 4 points
    B) Son (WHU, shu)

    Won't captain Son.
    No value invested in KdB.
