But how many times was the next game vs. one of the worst teams in the league with a fixture vs. the top of the table team a few days later?

Yes but how much running will he actually have to do against Spurs? Bearing in mind they'll just be camped out in their 18 yard box.

I remember him getting benched against Everton last season in a similar schedule. Wasn’t after CL but was during this period.

Either way, he does not play 90 against Fulham.

Got inspired by DANGEROUS RHUBARB's transfers (posted above) and I could not resist making early transfers.

    Ziyech Vardy -> Mane(C) Watkins -4

    McCarthy
    Chilwell Zouma Ayling
    Salah Mane(C) Son(VC) Grealish Jota
    Bamford Watkins

    (Martinez DCL Justin Cresswell)

    Next week:
    Mane -> KDB(C)
    And also, maybe,
Salah -> Fernandes for a hit.

    Could this work?

Not moving for Salah then as I think he won't be getting 90 during the weekend. Could Mane be the answer for the next few? Away game vs Fulham, rested today and Mane always shows up in big games (Spurs next week).

    My thinking:

    1. We know for sure that Mane and Firmino will start against Fulham as both were rested today.

    2. Given that both Jones and Gini were rested entirely and Henderson came on as a sub, it seems extremely likely that all three will start against Fulham. Which means it's Salah vs Jota for the final starting place, rather than both playing.

    3. We know for sure that Salah is going to start against Spurs, we don't know if Jota will.

    4. So for the Fulham game, it comes down to whether you think it makes more sense for Klopp to either:

    A) Bench Jota against both Wolves and Fulham in the lead up to a Spurs game in which he *might* start, while starting Salah across all four games.

    B) Bench Salah for the game that falls in between the 90 minutes he's just played and the Spurs game in which he will *definitely* start, utilising Jota who has already been rested against Wolves and who might not start against Spurs anyway.

On paper I would say option B looks like a more obvious way of managing rotation. It would seem strange to bench the in-form Jota against Wolves, Fulham and *maybe* Spurs, without taking advantage of any of the three opportunities to give Salah a rest before a big title contender game.

Salah starts and comes off at 60 mins or comes on last 30 mins, either way he could score a brace.

        He could well do.

However, if you're one of the many people thinking of bringing him at the cost of one of Bruno, KDB, Son or Kane, him potentially only playing 30 minutes while the other start should give you pause for thought. Especially given the following fixture is a tough one against Spurs. At that point you have to wonder if it's the wisest use of your transfer in the short term.

You think he could rest Mane or Firmino for two games in a row (with Mane already only having played 26 min against BHA in the PL game before last anyway)?

And then Salah starts against Spurs Wednesday night, and lunch time kick off against Palace as well? Which Klopp has said is not enough rest, and players will get injured with so little restitution from wed > sat morning.

You shouldn’t make that conclusion just because you own Salah. I own Salah and I think there’s a big chance he’s benched. Spurs 3 days after and Palace after that. Jota can do a job against Fulham and then if it’s not going to plan, bring on Salah.

Mane also got benched against Brighton when he played 90+ 2 weeks ago.

It’s not about owning Salah. It’s what Liverpool need and what has brought them success for the past three seasons. Klopp said Salah felt good. He is a sublime athlete

Jota now means Klopp can actually rotate any of the front 3. Remember when they got sooooo tired by the end of the season..... Jota will play 1 in 2 or 2 in 3 games. He was rested last saturday so plays today and Saturday?

You think a football team can just keep doing the same thing and this will bring success?

Teams have to find an edge. Owning Jota is an edge they previously didn't have

Obviously Jota isn't as good as Salah. The point of a squad player isn't to be as good as the first choice options. It's to step in when you might want to give those first choice options a rest.

Like, for example, when the first choice player is facing an easy game against relegation candidates that comes off the back of two 90 min games in a short space of time and right before a top of the table clash. That tends to be the type of situation players can be rested in.

Unless you think Salah will play every single minute of every single game, Jota will be stepping in for him at some point.

I have 7 of that front 8, with Che instead of Welbeck and a similar trash defense with Balbuena, Webster, Cresswell 4.0 3.8

      Definitely not

      Horribly unbalanced

Just stumbled on the team on Twitter. That D scared me & relying on 1 striker.

Anyone with decent TV could get

      4.5

      James 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.5

      Salah Son Bruno KDB Raphinha

      Kane Bamford.

Sadly my TV isn't good enough.

Yep, my next 2 transfers will be Che to Bamford and Cresswell to James/Dier

Why sell Cresswell he is due a huge haul

Dunno, not yet done it but debating it. Not removing this week yet and will probably save next week. But mainly just to get James in and lock in the price at the expense of a haul.

Would it be crazy to aim for Son in GW15 when the fixtures change, but the only way to do it would be losing Grealish in GW15

    GW13: Podence + Vardy + Jota > Bruno + Brewster + Groß (-4)
    GW14: Grealish > Son

Would give a front 8 of:
    Salah KDB Bruno Son Groß
    DCL Bamford (Brewster)

    1. Dirty Harry
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 4 months ago

      That would bring in:
Groß for his games against ful SHU straight up
Bruno for shu LEE and keep him

Want to keep Grealish but need Son for that fixture swing in GW14/15 onwards

I scrapped my plans to get Salah and Bamford in for Ziyech and Vardy, and figured I'd just get Mahrez in. But he could well be rested this weekend.

Maybe I should just change my backup keeper, lol.

Had exact money so took in Salah for a hit before price rise with the intention of capping him.
Still worth Salah (C) or shift to KDB or Son?

I've done the same. Now not sure whether to cap him or not.
I have Son, KDB, Bruno, Jota, Bamford...currently tempted to stick the armband on Son

Why so little love for captaining Kane and Son at Palace? Top scorers in FPL, Palace concede against quality, leaky on the flanks etc

They do have the capacity to frustrate higher teams, byt wouldn't be surprised if it's a palace wipeout at the same time

Salah is either going to get a 1 pointer this week to punish those who captain him or he will get a 20 pointer to punish those who don’t get him in due to fear of benching.

    It’s the FPL way

    Now which will it be.....?

There are a lot of discussions here on Salah potentially being rested against Fulham. If that is the case and bearing in mind that KDB faces United, you may survive this gameweek without owning either of these players

and KDB could be rested midweek v WBA. (a worried owner here)

Salah may not start, so maybe you can do without him, but KDB is a must. Did you see Man U defense against RB Leipzig?

I really want kdb in is this a crazy -8 ?

Jota Ziyech Dcl ➡️ Kdb raphina Bamford

    Would leave me with

    Martinez
    Kwp Zouma Dallas
    Salah Grealish kdb Bruno
    Bamford Kane Welbeck

    Button raphina Lamptey Kilman

    Cheers all good luck

No way! DCL and Jota are great picks and to sacrifice these two to bring in KDB makes no sense to me at all

wellbeck and Ziyech are your problems more than DCL?
Jota - just play him and take the rough with the smooth for his low cost

Cheers both I have a few options in mind perhaps getting rid of Dcl isn’t one of the best. I’m really unsure this week.

    Meslier
    Robertson Chilwell James Lamptey
    Salah KDB Bruno Grealish
    DCL Bamford

    Steer Trossard Brewster Dunne
    1 FT, 0.2 ITB

    A) Lamptey > Vestergaard
    B) Trossard > Soucek
    C) Trossard > Neto
    D) Lamptey + Trossard > Lewis + Bowen -4

Roll the transfer, why make bench moves, you then have 2 to do any move triggered by this weekends carnage

Based on European lineups tonight Sterling is suddenly a dark horse captain choice this week...

Maybe, but it's hard to look pass KDB playing as a #10, which I expect him to play vs United.

Too many worried Salah and KDB owners here. Obviously, there is a risk of any player being rested over the festive period and it is something that is beyond our control.

Just pick the best players and if there are random benchings during the week, just accept it and move on...
