Fantasy Football Scout to participate in social media boycott

Fantasy Football Scout will join the wider football world in uniting for a social media boycott this weekend.

In response to the ongoing and sustained discriminatory abuse aimed at players and other figures in the football world, none of our official accounts will post any content on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between 15:00 BST on Friday, April 30 until 23:59 BST on Monday, May 3.

Social media can play a pivotal part in adding value and reach to our coverage, enabling us to engage with Fantasy managers all over the globe.

However, this weekend’s boycott serves to highlight that social media companies must work harder to prevent the spread of online hatred while educating everyone in the ongoing fight against discrimination.

The FA, Premier League, EFL, FA Women’s Super League, FA Women’s Championship, PFA, LMA, PGMOL, Kick It Out, Women in Football and the FSA are some of the biggest names involved in this weekend’s boycott with the number of participating organisations growing by the day.

All of us involved are aware this event alone will not put an immediate stop to online abuse. The aim is to show social media companies that the football world is willing and able to take decisive steps to bring about a positive change to the sport we all love.

As there will be no content on our official social media channels this weekend, we will include live coverage of Gameweek 34’s matches on our website instead, including team news, goal alerts, notifications of assists and other key Fantasy match events.

We tested a live blog feature during Monday night’s meeting between Leicester and Crystal Palace which we hope to use for the next round of fixtures. We look forward to sharing this weekend’s football with you via this medium.

    Mendy
    TAA Shaw Rudiger
    Salah Jota Fernandes Lingard Greenwood
    Kane Iheanacho

    Forster Vydra Holding Kilman

    2.6 itb, 2FT

    1. Jota >> Son + save 1FT
    2. Jota >> Son + use the other FT, Mendy (could be rested), or something else

Mins are not nailed compared to other mids except Greenwood (falls in the latter part with double) and doesn't have a potential double

Easy 1. I don't understand why people think Mendy will be rested. Mendy is the #1 GK, TT has previously given Kepa the next game after the cup comps. The one time he didn't do it was due to the IB in April. Why would a GK need rested?!

RP - A bit stuck here with 2FTs. What's your thoughts on the options below?

    A:
    GW34 Son to Bale
    GW35 Bale to Greenwood

    B:
GW34 Bruno to Pereira (1GW punt)
    GW35 Pereira to Greenwood/Bruno

    2FT 0.3ITB FH36
    Mendy
    TAA Rudiger Shaw Dallas
    Son Salah Lingard Bruno
    Kane Nacho
    (Forster Jota Holding Davis)

nothing personal but your transfers are ridiculous, good question though.
by now you should have Jota, Son and Bruno for the end of the season. maybe you should look for other alternative.

haha maybe losing Son to Bale is a bit ridiculous. I'm not sure about Son being a keep until the end of the season. Bruno isn't justifying his price tag with FPL points at the moment. Greenwood is doing better than him and is +4m cheaper! What transfer would you suggest here

Currently you have 6 DGWers, since you got FH you can just load up on chelsea/arsenal/leicester/man u. I'd either switch dallas for fofana (depending on the value) or do nothing (as team might be strongest as it is). Losing one of your DGWers for a punt this week and then having to use a transfer to get him back doesn't make much sense to me... Team does look good tho

I think I'm good with Chelsea players. Chelsea def is more consistent for points than their mid and fwd. I don't trust Arsenal. I can see Dallas outscoring Fofana even though he is playing 1 game less. You could be right that the best thing to do here is to do nothing but I feel I could take a 1GW punt here rather than not burn a FT.

Yeh very possibly true with dallas outscoring fofana - is more fun to punt! Options below look pretty spicy

Dallas has so many routes to get FPL points over Fofana. Playing OOP, defence vastly improving so increasing potential CS and scores goals

If you're punting this week and FH in 36 then here's an upside punt for you to laugh at

      Jota to Foden

Both are dicey for starts but Foden is a much much option if he does start and the one risk is that he gets a cameo. My guess is that is most likely if Palace are miraculously holding City at the 60 minute mark. It can easily be reversed in 35 when/if Liverpool look good again.

The other one might be to lose TAA to Digne to load up on DGW players in 35 and the 37 fixture is very decent. This comes down to how likely you regard Liverpool cs probs. I'm not seeing one.

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 25 days ago

        I definitely had a chuckle.

Foden is a great option but I have no idea if he will start which is the problem of the punt. He needs to be nailed and Bale vs SHU or Pereira vs Wolves look like a great 1GW punts.

I don't think I can lose TAA. I had bad experiences this season with Digne which put me off getting him. Held him for 10GWs and done nothing for me.

I could see Liverpool getting min 3CS for the rest of the season IF Philips is back and Fabinho back in midfield

            Yep

Have been wondering whether Phillips back would improve cs outlook because it would slot Fabinho back into midfield. But both Burnley and WBA all of a sudden feel much trickier for cs than you'd normally suppose and Southampton definitely have goals in them.

Yeah I agree with you, both WBA and Burnley have been very attacking in recent games. Having Fabinho in midfield should give the defence good protection. Kabak is the issue for me. Every time I watch a liverpool game, he is pretty much at fault for the goal.

    Bottomed.

Benching nightmare plus two goalkeepers with fixtures that don't scream clean sheet. If I go all in on a 0-0 at Old Trafford I'd set up like this:

    Martinez
    TAA Digne Castagne Azpi
    Maddison Lingard Son
    Watkins Iheanacho Kane (C)

    Pope Bruno Jota Veltman

    Thoughts?

If keeping Bruno, I wouldn't play Maddison ahead of him. He has been poor in the 2 games he has started. He could easily start from the bench on Friday.

          Nope

Really stuck on how I rate Spurs this week given Leeds away in 35. It's not the performance against City that bothers me but more the showing against Southampton - no Kane of course but that was fairly uninspiring.

Wondering whether Jota to Bowen might not add up over the run in as that would leave me the option of waiting till 36 for Son if Spurs do look good.

I might indeed do what I never do and roll this week, play Jota and cross my fingers it's 3-2 type result and not the 0-0 in that game. Think I prefer that to playing Coady or Konsa in a back 4.

    Subs: Forster Coady ESR Holding

    1. ESR to Pereira (save a transfer, bench Jota)
    2. ESR & Coady to Lingard & 4.4M defender (bench Jota)

People used to believe in free speech and that the quality of their ideas could win out against bigoted ideas. Now, everyone agrees with censorship and this gives those bigoted ideas more power than they should have. Asking for more regulation (yes - even against people saying bad things) is going to act against you when you need to challenge governments.

Whilst there are a few bad individuals out there posting offensive stuff, I don't think the idea that there is a wave of online abuse is accurate. Bear in mind that everyone wants to make the point that they are not racist, the two things don't match. More likely, being able to cohere everyone against an enemy that is supposedly growing provides a sense of purpose and unity that society can't get elsewhere.

Everyone should need ID to sign up to social media accounts. If found abusing people, you can be directly punished for it.

But the establishment doesn’t care. They’ll just run performative show racism the red card campaigns.

Totally agree on the ID point.

If you don't want to submit your ID credentials, then frankly, you can't have a social media account.

It's absolutely crazy in these times, and with some of the antics that people pull online anonymously that we're even having this discussion.

Thanks for the idea. I'm not sure I agree with the ID thing as I believe that's a bit of a slippery slope. The moment it happens, people will divert to a ne platform whereby that isn't required.

Can see it eventually getting to that sort of stage though.

I'm not enough of a WebDev to know the details, but there could definitely be work on algorithms/AI that can identify abusive language & block certain messages. It would have to be one heck of a natural language parser to be effective, but I'm sure given the complexities of other technologies these firms have access to - it's not outside the realm of possibility. Just, very not cheap. Alternatively harsher bans (IP addresses etc - although VPNs an issue).

GW37 and GW38 being moved back 7 days so all teams can have a home fixture with fans before the end of the season. If that happens most of the GW36 fixtures could be moved to the weekend of May 15 resulting in blanks (because of the FA Cup Final) and DGW's.

Bench Mount this week? Surely he gets a rest

    Mendy Forster
    Rudiger Shaw Coady Castagne Phillips
    Salah Lingard Bruno Son Jota
    Kane Nacho Vydra

Got 2ft & 0.5 in the bank, kinda lost what to do this week. Team doesn't look too bad to me but thinking maybe Phillips > Holding. Other options would be to upgrade Forster or bring in EVE def (maybe Coady > Coleman?). Any thoughts?

Like it a lot, perhaps fofana or yes holding (but less nailed for dgw given david luiz is returning very soon). Dallas also an option? You could always do coady to coleman next week?

If you can afford a good BGW keeper for Forster, definitely do it. As you’ll have to make the move later either way.

Don’t go holding as Luiz is lurking.

Everton defender also a very good shout

Hadn't considered the prospect of Luiz coming back, thanks!

    Start 2 from:
    A) TAA
    B) Bamford
    C) Dias
    D) Jota

TAA and bamford for me but could easily also start dias instead of taa, gets rested so you have taa from bench

This feels like a smart play. I expect Ake and one of Laporte/Dias to start

Currently on Bam and TAA, may well start Dias with TAA first off bench then.

Ignoring the price for this GW only: Vardy or Bamford?

      Got to be Vardy

Vardy as he has an expected double coming up. After that Bamford

      Vardy

Vardy if it's the binary choice

I'd go just on defences: Brighton or Southampton has only one answer no?

I’m trying to prep for the DGW and more so the BGW so any help would be appreciated.

Have 2FT 0.1ITB- need to use one move this week.

    This week
Coady to Holgate (will bench, also have saiss)
DGW35 Son vydra to Siggy Watkins (8DGW players)
BGW36 Mendy & nacho to Meslier bamford -4

    Current team
    Mendy* Forster
    Rudiger* holding* saiss coady TAA
    Bruno* Salah son lingard jota
    Nacho* Kane vydra

I would personally go for Coleman instead of Holgate, I think he's nailed on for the run-in

What makes you think he's naled - lookign at his minutes throughout season it certainly doesn't seem like that?

Yeh think coleman is a better shout too - also any way of not losing Son to fund those deals? Think he could be valuable for their run-in too

Thanks both on the Coleman shout. I’ll do a bit of research into it.

Son....it could be Bruno but I feel since I have Kane it’s the smarter move.

Otherwise I sell jota and have to buy Raphina instead of Siggy

Own both Greenwood AND Jota this week. I do not own Lingard.

    Rectify this? Y/N?

    Martinez,
    Taa, Rudiger, Digne,
    Saka, Moura, Lingard, Salah,
    Iheanacho, Kane (c), Bamford

    Forster, Fernandes, Shaw, Stones

0.3 ITB, 1FT - Moura is a relic from the spurs double but I'd quite like to roll the FT to get in 2/3 DGWers if possible. Should I make any transfers? Also any help on bench would be v appreciated 🙂

50 points off ML leader. 8 different players. Good time to go off-piste with captain selection? Or stick with Kaney?

Stick with Kane this week. He's the clear favourite.

It's more probable that he does well, rather than tanking. At least if he hauls, you're still in it.

      Agree with this.

Better to stick with the obvious capt picks and try to make up ground with a differential or two.

Sitting on 2FT and 1,5itb... Not really sure what to do here...

    Team is
    Mendy Forster
    TAA Rudiger Coady Alioski Mitchell
    Bruno Salah Son Mount Jota
    Vardy Nacho Vydra

Insane to do Vydra + Jota to DCL and Eze? Would bench Eze this GW, but he's having a great run of fixtures and a DGW soon

    Other ideas welcome..

I am in similar boat and don’t want to burn a FT. I am tempted to upgrade Forster to a non blanking GK assuming GW36 is blank for Chelsea. Thinking Meslier or Pickford
