White absent as Lukaku starts for Chelsea

Sunday’s Premier League action continues at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal host Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) comes into Gameweek 2 with a significant level of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) interest.

The Belgian starts up top for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and will be supported by Mason Mount (£7.5m) and Kai Havertz (£8.4m) in the Blues 3-4-2-1 formation.

Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic (£8.0m) misses out after a positive Covid test, while N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.4m) are back on the bench after being injured in the UEFA Super Cup.

As for Arsenal, Ben White £4.5m) has been ruled out, as revealed by David Ornstein earlier today:

As a result, Mikel Arteta turns to Rob Holding (£4.4m), who joins Cedric Soares (£4.5m), Pablo Mari (£4.5m) and Kieran Tierney (£5.0m) at the back.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£9.9m), who has recovered from Covid, and new signing Aaron Ramsdale (£4.5m) are on the bench.

Martin Odegaard (£5.5m) has joined permanently from Real Madrid, however this game comes too soon for him.

GAMEWEEK 2 LINE-UPS

Arsenal XI: Leno, Cedric, Holding, Mari, Tierney, Lokonga, Xhaka, Saka, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Martinelli

Subs: Ramsdale, Chambers, Kolasinac, Tavares, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Nelson, Balogun, Aubameyang

Chelsea XI: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso, Mount, Havertz, Lukaku

Subs: Kepa, Chilwell, Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Zouma, Kante, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Werner

Kane was on the bench this week, while Fernandes started!

How many goals will a front two of DCL and Lukaku get? Especially with DCL as confirmed to be on pens. I assume Jorginho will stay on pens for Chelsea.

Lukaku could take pens from Jorginho. Personally I don't think he will maybe unless Jorginho misses a few games or misses one, but he's so good even as a Lukaku owner I think he should keep them. But Lukaku has an exceptional record on them too and if he's going for the golden boot could well be looking for them

Wait till we know for sure. And who to get would be tricky. And if plans to get him back in gw5 are there, I see that as a waste of 2FT.

Livrmento would be a good option if you don't wanna wildcard early. I would go with that. Newcastle next could start with no issues. We would be valuable for a few starts/ bench boost come double game week

Bad game week one of 81 points (considering the high scores). 63 points so far this game week with one player in Benarhama yet to play and today bonus points yet to be added (Greenwood). 500,000 game week rank and went from 2m to 800k overall rank so not a bad game week for me. could have gotten more as my captain was Salah and blanked which was unfortunate

Most managers had failed captains this week so its not bad.

I'm pretty happy. I pointed out the blanked captain as I was going to be extremely bold an hour before the deadline and captain Tsimikas as I expected a clean sheet and I knew the possibility of a contribution against a poor side at home. Decided to play it safe in case Salah went off and didn't wanna be left behind even more.

OR rank movements mean nothing this early - you're still dealing with casuals using all their chips early / creating multiple teams for various reasons at this stage

That's true. I have a plan for my chips. GW7 Salah v Palace triple captain, wait for a double game week for bench boost once fixtures come more congested through rescheduled games (have 3 starting bench (for now). That will probably be the second half of the season! I will also find an appropriate time to free hit hopefully depending on injuries or if I fancy a few games

Now that bonus points are added I got an additional 5 points for today pushing my GW rank to the lower 300k. Did not expect Shaw to get me 2 BP just expected Greenwood 3. 2 points go a long way in the early days of the game

Still early days. Stay focused, trust the points will come & if you need to use any chip, use it. Used WC & got a lot of points this gw but still early days tho

I actually threw my WC this week too for a catch up in getting Bruno and Salah (had Bruno last week wanted Salah) both blanked for me but got good scores everywhere else (except Shaw who also blanked)

If you were told before the start of the season that you'll be scoring above 150 points in the first two GWs, would you've considered it bad?

It's a marathon, not a sprint. The trick is to stay with the pack till the penultimate lap.

I would've been very happy indeed! Just that monster GW1 that everyone scored high threw me off but like it was said above people using chips early etc makes it difficult. If I keep my average up or close to it for a few game weeks I will easily climb

Most likely using FTs to get rid, then may look to get back in on wildcard with ARS good fixtures and he'll be cheaper at that point also

Arguments on why Lukaku is over-priced

    - Not on pens
    - Proven PL flat track bully (unless he changed)
    - Chelsea arent going to blow opponents away imo, he will tick by, but dont expect explosive returns, and therefore you will get bored capping him for less than 10 points

Failing to see the justification for him over DCL at 8.1 who is on pens. Worth 3.4mil more, really?

I tend to agree that he is overpriced. I would've had him 9.0-9.5. Like you said, no pens, Chelsea won't blow teams away with goals and more importantly I think he will be under 200 points (190 roughly) so you could get Son 1.5 cheaper and I think he will get between 190-200 this season. I will probably bring him in for a game or so when using my Free Hit but won't be a perm feature in my team

I like Lukaku I just feel like his points contribution would be in and around that price range. I may have been a little harsh and throw him into the 10.0 bracket

Vardy 10, Lukaku 10.5. Vardy is also over-priced, no one wants Vardy at 10.5

I think Chelsea will score a lot more goals this season as they have a proper striker now plus a wealth of attacking options. Lukaku will get 25 PL goals minimum.

I am waiting to see how they get on against Liverpool & then may bring him in either GW4 or GW7

everyone on that team likes a shot tho, they arent designed to just feed Lukaku. Goals will be spread around, almost as much as City

How do you know he is not on penalties? He is the main man in that team, will be on a mission for the golden boot and has not missed a penalty since 2018. I would not be in the least bit surprised if he takes the next one.

he could, but Jorghino is good at them, he hasnt lost them yet. Lukaku having them is an outside chance at this point.

    2FT, 0,5 itb
    TAA, Shaw, Digne, Tsimi, White
    Salah, Bruno, Barnes, Benrahma, Gilmour,
    Toney, Ings, Antonio

I don't like Toney in the team. Barnes has NOR in gw3 so I'd rather keep him. What to do:
    a) Bruno, Toney --> Greenwood + Lukaku (option available only this evening as Greenwood rise)
    b) Digne / TAA, Toney --> 4,4 def / prem def? + DCL
    c) downgrade Digne/White just to earn some cash
    d) forget about a), and decide about transfers later this week
    e) any other ideas?

    Salah - Bruno - Son - Kane - Lukaku - De Bruyne - TAA - Robertson

Barring any major transfer in from overseas these are among the premium assets we will be squeezing into or squads. Which players outside this list are the assets you’ll be focussing on to build your squads around these assets and when are you likely to wildcard?

Raphinha and Barnes are season keepers for me personally unless Daka gets more game time.
