FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

The latest rounds of our FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup competitions are taking place in Gameweek 17.

There’s a total of £600-worth of prizes on offer across the two tournaments, with a full breakdown towards the bottom of this article.

Here, we’ll look at the previous results from Gameweek 16 and the draw for the round that started on Tuesday night.

*all overall Fantasy Premier League ranks given in this article were correct before Gameweek 17 commenced

FFS MEMBERS CUP

There’ll be a new name on the FFS Members Cup trophy this season after our one remaining former champion, rrcmc, was knocked out at the weekend. It was an unfortunate exit, however: a Gameweek 16 total of 75 points was one of our highest losing scores of round two. donnellyc, a one-time winner of our FFS Open Cup, was the victor in that tie.

Quinnie211‘s ascent in the overall ranks continued with a score of 79 points, which was enough to lift them to 64th in the world while seeing off The Hope That Kills in their second-round tie.

Another manager inside the top 500, Minostat, bowed out after a 70-57 defeat to npch but 677th-placed ZIKOFLY saw off wayne50 to progress.

Lillepull‘s score of 95 points was the best of round two and enough to beat our very own Pro Pundit, Zophar.

The full results from round two are here.

The third-round draw is here.

FFS OPEN CUP

Our three remaining champions, donnellyc, TH14 and 2EyedTurk, all made it through to the fourth round after defeating 1 Goal Conceded, Ryyuuu and Mike in Gameweek 16.

All three of our past winners will be facing managers with better ranks than them in round five in the shape of Immortals38, kevl77 and GreenWindmill.

The aforementioned Quinnie (64th) and elfortu (108th) both had yet another excellent Gameweek to move up the ranks and progress to round four, but another manager having a stellar season, DonieFPL (439th), bowed out after a 77-60 defeat to The StrongSide.

Not content with being the top-scoring manager in our FFS Members Cup, Lillepull repeated the trick in our FFS Open Cup and moved inside the top 5k.

The full round three results can be viewed here.

The fourth-round draw is available here.

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

WHAT IS THE GAMEWEEK SCHEDULE?

The FFS Open Cup competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 12
  • Round 1 – Gameweek 13
  • Round 2 – Gameweek 15
  • Round 3 – Gameweek 16
  • Round 4 – Gameweek 17
  • Round 5 – Gameweek 18
  • Round 6 – Gameweek 19
  • Round 7 – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – Gameweek 23
  • Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 24

The FFS Members Cup competition will run as follows:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 13
  • Round 1 – Gameweek 15
  • Round 2 – Gameweek 16
  • Round 3 – Gameweek 17
  • Round 4 – Gameweek 18
  • Round 5 – Gameweek 19
  • Round 6 – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – Gameweek 23
  • Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 24

WHEN ARE THE FIXTURES RELEASED?

Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published before each Gameweek deadline.

So Man United got their game cancelled with these 1st team players available. What a joke.

    GK: Grant, De Gea

DF: Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Bailly, Varane, Jones, Telles

It's a joke that they can successfully request a postponement with that many players available. Sets a dangerous precedent.

So United only had 4 players with covid which isn't enough to get the game cancelled. So they shut down the training ground instead because they knew another way around the cancellation rules.
Norwich played last night with 8 players out with Covid.
What United done was a clear manipulation of the rules probably to buy preparation time for the new coach.

I was happy to get him and his 9 points, but watching Ralf's United, I'd say he's sorted out the back, but the attack needs work, and I don't think Ronaldo will be that prolific. I'll keep the armband on Salah and so prefer to spread the funds, especially with the greater need for a good bench.

My cup opponent has a bad team overall(even captained Gelhardt and has a lot of 0 pointers as players) and has probably not played after making the team at all. But I might still loose to him, since rightnow he/she has 18 points more then me. And I have max 10 players only. (none have played yet though)

Sounds like you'll be fine. My opponent has an 11 point lead and some decent players to come (Mendy, Dennis, Gallagher). I'm pretty much needing a Salah hatty and another 11 pointer from Ramsdale!

        1. Hiiler
          • 2 Years
          2 years, 4 months ago

Yeah my opponent has mostly differentials or even players who play seldomly. His best player is Salah(who I have and captained him) and Foden(thats where the lead gomes from., that and me taking a hit) . Would be ironic if he/she wins with that team though. Last GW he/she had 57 points with that team.

Your opponent has decent players that's true.

            • 2 Years

11 points from Ramsdale might happen, but very unlikely. So yeah you need a miracle haul from Salah probably in that case. Hope you get to the next round . 🙂

I'm now 14 points behind my opponent. We both have Salah , I captained him. he has 2 more players, I have 3 not including Salah). So I guess I need Liverpool haul or maybe Sputs game postpome, emt would be enough too for me to win my cup battle against a player who hasn't played after putting together that crappy team at the start of a season.

That's postponements for you . In cup oppomemnts who have quit playing with crappy teams can beat you . 😛

I think they're acting to now avoid setting a precedent. Omicron is spreading, any postponing games now means postponing dozens over the winter. If the season is to be finished, there can't be a rash of games called off. Put your kids and Phil Jones out.

yeah thats the point im making, some on here seem to be suggesting that it benefits them so yeah lets call it off but they've just clogged up their fixture list even more so the assumption has to be it was from a health and safety standpoint

Money talks and bull$hit walk. Not Man Utd's problem. Players already wrecked on all teams and the season condensed to sonehow fit in the Qatar WC calendar. Sure writing was on the wall when they resumed PL last year, regularly testing players but NHS staff couldn't be tested becayse they're weren't enough tests available. $$$$$$$$$ 🙁

They only had 3 days between the game at Norwich and Brentford. New manager will take time to get his tactics across so having the game later in the season when there is less fixtures is an advantage

"Hearing the United game is in serious doubt on Saturday

Makes sense given the fact that those players who were unavailable on Tuesday night (at Brentford) will still be self-isolating."

Someone suggested that MU may have asked the PL to postpone this game as well as the Brentford one earlier in the week and it may not have been announced yet

Yeah right... And how would it look now that they announced no more postponements this week?

But, but... They requested it earlier and we just kept it secret!

Look not going to rule it out, but United players are back at training today (for Brighton) & the Brighton match is (as far as we know) going to happen this midweek.

      Why should it be postponed?

If its played next midweek and not on Saturday, it is postponed - just not in FPL gw terms

    Which option sounds better?

    1) Raph to Foden, bench Vardy (assuming he will be rested), play King and Alonso

    2) Raph Vardy to Foden Watkins -4, play King, bench Alonso

Will see how the game vs Spurs goes, Vardy could be good for Everton game.

I'm tempted to not captain Salah this week. Got some nice options:

    A) Ronaldo
    B) Cancelo
    C) Silva
    D) Bowen
    E) Antonio

All are capable of putting up a double digit return. Anyone else interested?

I think Ronaldo if we know the game is on.

    1. DannyDrinkVodka
      • 4 Years

Definitely Ronaldo for everyone who held, including myself (he better deliver as I was 50/50 on CR7>Watkins, ESR>Foden for a -4)

Yep. I too considered the Ronaldo + Brownhill > Watkins + Foden option. Didn't do it and it's cost me 26 points already lol (would've held Gundo instead of switching to Silva with the FT)

that really, really hurts - if it makes you feel any better, Gallagher was first on my bench last week (because I did Kane>CR7, Raphinha>Bowen for a hit)............CR7 better deliver, he's killing me right now!

I don't have him and no easy way to get him either. Also a 90 min outing midweek could mean he's benched. If I had Sterling he'd be high on my list of players I'd want to go for.

    3. WVA

Salah the most likely to get a double digit return still, just owning Ronaldo is enough which I no longer do so he will definitely score.

As I have no leichester or spurs players in my team rightnow and having to play 10 or less players this GW because of Man united Brentford postponement it actually would help me I guess if it gets postponed.

Hopefully though they(EPL) figure something out soon, so there doesn't have to be so many postponements.
