Following Thursday’s announcement that eight top-flight sides will play twice in Double Gameweek 26, I’m going to note down some initial thoughts on players and chip strategy.

Firstly, here are the fixtures for those teams who double in either Gameweeks 25 or 26, ordered by difficulty:

You’ll notice I’ve included the surrounding Gameweeks, too, as with several teams blanking, they are crucial for planning.

Liverpool and Arsenal, for example, have the best set of Double Gameweek 26 fixtures on offer, but they are both without a league match in 27, at least for now, due to a clash with the EFL Cup final.

The only way in which they can feature is as follows:

The Reds will definitely be without a league match in Gameweek 27 if they beat Cardiff City at home in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend.

Arsenal are out of the FA Cup so technically have a free midweek but their outstanding fixtures, against Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, are all against teams still in the cup.

Even if one of those sides were to be eliminated in the fourth round, TV companies will likely dictate whether any of those previously postponed league matches could fit around the televised cup games in Gameweek 27.

    Thinking I can then bench Trent, Mo & Rambo for 27, switching Robbo for a one-week punt on the way to James for 28 and get 12 starters for BGW27

          True enough lately. Could have just been building form to go to AFCON and now has lost interest. Hopefully Hodgson can spark him. I don't rate King. Had one good PL season. If you take out his flier v Everton he hasn't been good in front of goal this season. Hardworking, honest player but not a great striker. Sarr should be back soon too. Could impact King and Dennis returns

      One Watford is plenty these days. Whether its the DGW debacle, or the AFCON situation, Dennis looks well off the boil at the moment. I wouldn't be afraid to lose him.

    If Raphinha is fit, do you guys think Gallagher is still a better option than Raphinha in the next 3 GWs despite Raphinha has DGW while Gallagher only has single GW??

            I think that's a little unfair. Raphinha has more flair but you can't deny Gallagher has been incredible this season and consistently providing deserved returns. Raphinha has had some very fortunate goals as well as a couple penalties which he won't be on when Bamford is back, and he's still behind.

              It's unfair to give my opinion? I think Gallagher is very good, having a brilliant season. But I think Raphinha is better. Fortunate goals, penalties, are still goals, determine results. Leeds would be sunk without Raphinha.

                Unfair evaluation of Gallagher, relax... He's not a "sexy" pick compared to Raphinha; he's cheaper which plays mind games and you probably hadn't really seen him play at all before this season. Raphinha is a skillful Brazilian winger who's been Leeds talisman of sorts for the past year. Raphinha may well be a better player currently, it's hard to judge really, but Gallagher is knocking on Mount's door to be the next Lampard which would be legendary status compared to any ""skillful winger". Lucky points are still points for the past, but he won't be lucky forever.

      Jota- I have a feeling Tsimikas might get a game in one of double week fi with Liverpool playing 13, 16, 19 and 23 Feb. So might Jota but he is more likely to come on and score

      Saiss imo. Saiss is good on scoring from set piece while semedo has no end product. Kilman for 4.5 DEF option.

      Wolves don't score many, so their attacking potential is pretty negligible. I'd go as cheap and nailed as possible. Kilman.

    So by Sunday Salah will have playing 7 matches in a tournament over just 4 weeks. Add to that the 3 internation games he played in Dec plus all the Liverpool matches and it adds up to 2 very hard months.
    If this was the Euros during the summer we would be expecting players to get 2+ weeks off..... not sure why people think we're going to see Salah or Mane until GW 26

      Salah played 120 minutes last 3 matches as well. But it's also Klopp. He very rarely benches Salah even in matches that don't matter.

        That's normally true but surely he has to give him a rest so he lasts until the end of the season .... I say by next Tuesday we should know if Salah and Mane have been given extended leave
