The Scout Squad’s best FPL players for Gameweek 24

The best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards for Gameweek 24 are debated by the Scout Squad panel.

For those new to this feature, it’s a weekly piece that always takes the form of a ‘Free Hit’-type selection for the upcoming Gameweek.

Fantasy Football Scout contributors Az, Sam, Neale and Tom each propose an 18-man long-list of Fantasy players, explaining their notable inclusions and omissions in the article below.

The Scout Squad also serves as a precursor to the Scout Picks, as the players listed will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for final our weekly selection ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

If you didn’t see it previously, we’ve started doing a ‘bus team’ Scout Picks earlier in the week in order to share our initial selection thoughts with Fantasy managers who perhaps couldn’t be around closer to the deadline – but we’ll still be publishing our final squad as we were before.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one goalkeeper costing £5.0m or less
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one midfielder listed at £6.5m or below
  • At least one forward priced at £7.0m or lower
  • No more than three players from the same club

      Personally, would wildcard. If you ask yourself how many of these players you'd want on a wildcard it's usually a good indicator – personally I would only probably want 5-6. James, Mount, Alonso, Dennis, King, Soucek, Manquillo and Trossard could all use an upgrade

      I have the two of them on my wildcard if that helps. I feel the fpl 'influencers' have forgotten about Foden. So there is a definite blind spot among the fpl community as a result.
      Given city play Brentford and Norwich. Even if Foden only plays 120 minutes in the two games. He still could score big.

        Yea he could that's why I'm not sure if it's worth a transfer. I'd be more comfortable captaining KDB but could just put it on Jota and roll.

      What a team!

      I don't trust Dele at all. Gallagher is a better use of your money.

      With your budget I'd also prefer to have a better last sub than Richardson just in case. Brownhill + Edouard (or Ramsey + King/Broja/Hwang) are much better than Dele + Richardson

        So the same thing every year - Should win most of my mini leagues, but no threat to the overall comp. It keeps the mini leagues exciting, others take the lead and I slowly catch up and typically overtake in the final weeks. Very satisfying 🙂

      I certainly wouldn't wildcard. Alonso to Digne means you can afford Jota to Salah in one move next week. Alternatively you can move a Watford striker to Broja

    Just worked 16 hours solid and I'm up again in 6 hours so my brain is a bit numb. Wont get chance to get back on again before the deadline so would appreciate any final advice on the team below.         Re: Mahrez and Foden, its a tough choice. Foden probably will get more game time, but Mahrez got the penalties and more explosive.
