The 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season is almost upon us, with champions Manchester City visiting newcomers Burnley in tonight’s big kick-off.

As a result, the questions on team drafts, specific players and differentials are coming thick and fast in the comments section, so we’ve asked five-time top 1k finisher and Scout’s Deputy Editor, Tom Freeman, to answer some of your conundrums over the next 60 minutes.

He’ll be on hand to first reply to requests from Premium Members in the Hot Topic below the line of this piece and will get through as many as he can until the next article goes up. If there’s time, Tom will also turn his attention to other requests in the comments section.

    All my research and tinkering in the last week has brought me to these two final drafts, that both contain Salah and Haaland. The biggest dillemma is chosing between Rashford and Watkins. Here they are:

    a) Rashford draft
    Pickford - Turner
    Chilwell - Gabriel - Estu - Botman - Kaboré
    Salah - Saka - Eze - Rashford - Trossard
    Haaland - Pedro - Mubama

    b) Watkins draft
    Onana - Turner
    Chilwell - Gabriel - Estu - Stones - Kaboré
    Salah - Saka - Eze - Maddison - Chukwuemeka
    Haaland - Watkins - Mubama

    Basically chosing between
    a) Pickford - Botman - Rashford - Trossard - Pedro
    b) Onana - Stones - Maddison - Chukwuemeka - Watkins

    What option would you guys pick? Thanks in advance and have fun this season!

      A by a mile for me. I had a draft very like this (but see below now) and I actually quite like the idea of Trossard as a punt. Watkins will do a job I guess, but he's a £7m player with a £8m price tag IMO

      Prefer the Rashfrod team, don't think i'd like to start without Bruno/Rash given their ownership. Not a fan of the trossard pick though.

        Thanks for your reply. Maybe I'm a little biased. As a fellow belgian I love Trossard. But he also had a great pre-season, might play up front and has great fixtures. When he doesn't start, he often scores as a sub. And games Will take longer this season. Might swap him to richarlison in the future too.

        But, feel free to convince me to take another player below 7.0.

      I've mostly been on Salah drafts until now, but not because I really want him, more because I can't see how to use the budget efficiently without him. Seems like all the non-Salah teams I see either have Watkins (who I just can't get excited about at that price) or waste money on the bench

        It looks good on paper, but I reckon you'll end up burning through lots of transfers trying to pick the right front 3 (unless you get lucky and both Pedro and Jackson do well). I also think all the value is in midfield this year, so personally I haven't had a single draft without a midfield 5

        I'm going for a Jota punt I think (see above). I think 3 Brighton might be a mistake because the fixtures turn sharply, so you might find yourself with all 3 being sold by others at once

      Option A: Rashford and Maddison (3-5-2)
      Option B: Bruno and Watkins (3-4-3)
      Option C: Rashford and Mbeumo (3-5-2) and update 4.0 to Gvardiol (bench).

      Which option? Was thinking A before the Kane move since Maddison was to be my cheap Bruno. Now obviously have doubts with Kane leaving.

          You had a combination of Maddison and Rashford?

          Maddison feels like he is going to be involved in everything and Kane leaving could even give him more license to be the creative engine. He just won't have one of the top finishers in PL though...

          My original throught process is 1 goal guy and 1 assist guy. Rashford is obviously the elite goals guy and Maddison i thought could do an impression of Fernandes for cheaper.

          Personally I love to go for Eze and Jack Grealish@Villa type guys who are the central talisman for the club.
