Despise my lack of cojones… opted for a -4 of Maddison Diaz Mbeumo to Salah Gordon Palmer, rather than Haaland Mbeumo to Álvarez Salah.

    Areola (Leno)
    Cash Udogie* Schar (Estupiñán** Kabore)
    Salah(c) Son Saka Gordon Palmer
    Haaland Watkins (Archer)

I guess on the upside, it’s lower reward but lower risk… if Haaland fails against Bournemouth, though, he’s out and that money is being put to better use.

It's a long-term move I was going to make anyway. And for free, it's unlikely I'd have been able to do it until ~GW13.

Would have cost more and might have missed out on some good fixtures by then.

Even if it doesn't pay off this week I've minimised the risk as much as much as I possibly could, saved some dosh.

Perfectally happy to have rolled that dice whatever the outcome.

Exactly my thoughts and why I also did it for a -4 too. If I can break even, I'm at peace with that

Haaland has gone from my team. After giving it some thought it makes sense to me for mainly the following reasons.

    1. I feel there are too many key players I would have to omit if I was to hold him.
    2. Possibly the most important point. City;s fixtures. I would anticipate that over the next 5-6 weeks, most will only captain Haaland 1-2 times. This greatly reduces the EO risk. Salah is looking the superior premium player right now and over the next 6 or so fixtures.
    3. Closely linked to point 2. I just don't want a 14m player I'm not going to captain most of the time and who also limits the inclusion of other key players.
    4. I just don't think City and Haaland are as good this season which is reflected by their xG. I think they are only 8th best so far this season for xG.

It's taken me a while to bring myself to sell Haaland and I've given it a lot of thought. It's only the EO factor that's made me agonise somewhat over the decision. If he was only 20% owned I would have done it without a second thought.

Kept him purely cos they're playing Utd this week and Bournemouth next week.
      2 hauls imminent.

yeah the next 2 are worth keeping him for and then can reassess before the tougher games

        This.

I've captained Haaland this week (got Salah in for coverage) as it's a rare week where he'll be a differential captain, and could legit hat trick haul again v United. Think the non pen goal for him mid week was emphatic and needed. He's been missing a lot of chances and that will simply regress. He's gonna get some half chances that start to go in.

People think they are going to hammer Utd but I just don't see it that way at all. The Bournemouth game will be the hide behind the sofa game. I'm intending to have Alvarez (C) that game who so far as pretty much matched Haaland for points.

Haaland transferred out by me as well. Could no longer justify spending 26.5 million of my budget on just two players and only be able to captain one of them.

exactly right. I strongly believe you only ever really need 1 premium player in your team if you are going to captain them most weeks. The premium players are over priced in terms of points per million compared to the next tier players down. The only way to exploit value in them is in the captaincy but you can only captain one player. Right now and over the next 6 or so fixtures, Salah is looking like the premium player to own.

    3. Nate(U)dog(ie)

I think you have more than valid arguments there. The one I'll slightly disagree on the significance of is the last one. Yes xG is always a good indicator for attacking threat, but this is one of the few cases in which I'd not pay massive attention to it. The very best players and teams defy xG, I think Haaland has done it in every season since moving to Dortmund 5 seasons ago and is on track to do it again despite having a lot of big misses so far this season. In the PL last season he had xG of 28 but scored 36g, and in all comps xG of 39 and scored 52g.

It's definitely something to note, but I also just think they're going through one of these periods they get each season where they're a bit leaner in the goals department for whatever reason. It happened last season (drew 1-1 v Everton, beat Chelsea 1-0, lost to ManUtd 2-1), but they picked things up very quickly (following it up with 4-2 and 3-0 victories), and the same happened the season before (1-0 v Brentford, 2-1 v Arsenal, 1-0 v Chelsea, 1-1 v Southampton).

I know that xG stats don't tell the full story but they are still a good indicator. They have lost Gundogan, Mahrez and effectively KDB and haven't really strengthened although Doku does look decent. I just cant see how that can't have an impact and I think we are seeing it. KDB provided so many assists for Haaland last season.

Very true, but Haaland leads the big chances missed stats so far (9), if he put away even half of those I think people would think differently right now

I'm not sure what Mark locked in but this is the WC squad he had on last night's stream:

      Areola
      Trippier Cash Gabriel
      Salah Son Saka Diaby Palmer
      Haaland Watkins
      Staroshka // Tsimikas Taylor Mubamba

Very good squad, bar the Mubamba sacrifice. But it's probably a sacrifice worthwhile.

good team value too to keep trippier with all those picks, most wildcards including mine have like 1-2m less to spend it seems.
Although I doubt he would have left it as it was last night must have tinkered a bit.

Even if I knew Udogie was out 100% it would have been swapping out for a hit, so would need a clean sheet minimum from replacement to marginally break above even.

What was the benefit of the PL making players walk out of the tunnel holding Ukraine flags?

You'd think Emerson Royal would replace Udogie but guess not.

They play on opposite sides of the pitch, so not an obvious replacement

Royal came on for when he was subbed injured

Yeah he did, but that was an in-game decision. For a starting team selection you'd normally expect Royal to cover Porro and Davies to cover Udogie.

Yeah my bad. Thought Udogie was replaced by Emerson last game, but maybe only because Davies wasn't in the squad.

Because my player is playing and my competitors in my mini league nearly all have udogie who isn't. Many of them have only 3 defenders or terrible defenders waiting on the bench.

Considering they ll barely attack through Davies I can see a lot going through porros side today. I'd be smug too if I were you. Unfortunately I'm in the udogie camp

Burn here. As long as no more absentees I'm happy. If anyone else is out it's the waste of spaces Archer and Kabore coming on

Even if udogie is back I can't see many CSs over the next 5. Udogie to Tsimikas and Kabore to Guehi could solve a lot of my defensive problems. In the past 4 gameweeks ive had

Baldock, Botman, Estu and now Udogie out injured. I want 5 playable defenders going forward lol
