Dugout Discussion – Spurs vs Man City

We end a marathon day of football at Wembley Stadium which provides a fitting finale as Tottenham Hotspur host champions elect Manchester City.

But it’s not Pep Guardiola’s City that hold the interest for Fantasy managers, as Harry Kane goes into tonight’s contest as the most signed player ahead for Gameweek 34 (255,000+) and wearing just over a million armbands.

Kane’s recent output has been hampered by injury, though having been awarded a controversial goal at Stoke City in Gameweek 33, he still boasts attacking returns in five of his previous starts.

Christian Eriksen has also proved a big draw ahead of this encounter, claiming 158,000 new owners before today’s deadline to edge ahead in the popularity pecking order in the Spurs midfield.

Son Heung-min may just have slipped down that ladder – he is benched today as Erik Lamela gets the nod. The South Korean will therefore likely start the away fixture with Brighton on Tuesday, though only three of his 12 goals this season have come on the road.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Does anyone know why the team news had Austin down to start?

In his press conference, Mark Hughes clearly signalled his intention to keep the same system (and therefore the same personnel) as the Arsenal game.

Austin can't play the role that Long does. He isn't mobile enough. Hughes has said that.

I'm a lone FPL manager doing a bit of research on my own.

FFS is the best fantasy football resource on the internet.

I had to take the opinion into account.

He mentioned possibly starting Bednarek - he didn't confirm he'd start with him, he said it was an option to retain the back three. The guy had never started a PL match and Saints were at home. I think it was reasonable to expect a back four and two up front.

I listened to it twice. He talked about how he wanted to continue with the system they had been working on in training in recent weeks which had worked well against Arsenal. He bigged up the polish youngster so he could keep 3 at the back and keep the same system. It's obviously easy to say in hindsight, but the clues were there. I'm kicking myself.

Why? Unless you can hand on heart say you were going Murray or Wood, you've lost nothing. Most had Barnes and he got 1 point.

I was on a free hit. It was no problem to switch out Austin. I should of saw what Hughes was saying, but I got seduced by Austin and the 100 minute stat.
