For the third time in a week Fantasy Premier League managers must consider who they hand the captain’s armband too.

Arsenal have the pick of the fixtures on paper but there are still plenty of options to be skippered in Gameweek 16.

We’ve gone over the popular options and analysed the stats once again…

* FPL prices correct at time of writing

Captain Poll

Despite that blank in Gameweek 15, it looks as if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m) will win this week’s captain poll comfortably. At the time of writing, he has the backing of 49% of the voters ahead of Arsenal’s home meeting with Huddersfield Town. He has three goals in his last four matches, more than any other Gunners player in that run.

A long way behind in second place was the winner of the midweek captain poll Harry Kane (£12.5m). Even though he dazzled the skipper competition in Gameweek 15 with a 12-point haul, only 17% of our voters believe he can do that against Leicester on Saturday evening. The Spurs man has at least a goal or an assist in each of his last four Premier League outings.

Hot on Kane’s tails is Aubameyang’s strike partner Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m) with 11.43% of the vote, showing just how much the Fantasy Football Scout community are expecting a big win when Huddersfield come to the Emirates Stadium. Even though he has featured only as a substitute in the last two matches, he still managed either a goal or assist in each one.

Also in the chasing pack is Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) ahead of Liverpool’s trip to face a leaky Bournemouth defence. The Egyptian was benched for the 3-1 win over Burnley and looks set for a return to the starting line-up at the Vitality Stadium. With an average of 5.75 points in his last four matches, Salah seems the most likely Liverpool player to breakthrough at Burnley, hence the 9% backing.

Not surprisingly, Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) is the most popular Manchester City option this week but he could not must much more than 2% backing. The fact that the defending champions have a crunch trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend is probably the main reason he is so far behind in the captaincy debate. After all, his owners should be confident of a start given that he was rested midweek.

Eden Hazard (£11.0m) also suffers from that upcoming fixture as just 0.39% of the voters have backed him ahead of Gameweek 16. Richarlison (£7.1m), Ryan Fraser (£6.2m), Callum Wilson (£7.0m), Anthony Martial (£7.6m), Sead Kolasinac (£4.9m), Felipe Anderson (£7.2m) and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (£6.2m) all look set for higher finishes than the Chelsea man in our poll.

Having to hold my nerve here. Have no Arsenal cover at all. Only option would be Mane + Jiminez > Fraser + Laca. -8. But I can't see that netting out better.

this midfield is gas! if you are afraid of arsenal, either go:
      a) kane and bennet ->auba & trippier(or any other cheaper def)
      b) alli and jimenez -> brooks & lacazette,
but honestly with this solid midfield + kane you can survive without arsenal cover

Cheers mate. Good options there to consider but I think I'll stick to this one.

Next week, considering a few week switch between Richarlison and Felipe (and then possibly back later). Would lose some value on Rich if I did that though as had him from early doors.

I'm happy with my team, but don't want to waste my 2 FT.

    Fab/Patricio

    TAA/Robertson/Doherty/AWB/Yedlin

    Sterling/Salah/FAnderson/Richarlison/Hojbjerg

    Wilson/Kane/Jiminez

    What's the best move:

    A) Yedlin -> Kolasinac (Would have to start him ahead of Robertson/TAA/Doh)

    B) Hojbjerg - > Snodgrass

    0.9 in the bank. Cheers!

    Begovic / Foster
    Alonso / Robbo / Doherty / AWB / Bennett
    Salah / Sane / Martial / Fraser / Hoj
    Kane / Arnie / Jiminez

1FT, 1.2 itb. Would really like Kane and Auba up front, not sure what route to take to get it though. Arnie, Salah -> Auba, Eriksen? (-4) Eriksen will likely just be a punt for a few weeks before upgrading to Sterling. Doesn’t feel right getting rid of Salah before Bournemouth though

It had completely passed me by that Charlie Daniels was back as a regular in the BOU defence, and at 4.2

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather get a dose of the clap than have him in my team right now, but he could be an interesting option from GW21 when their fixtures take a swing upwards

Fair point. I'm just hate doubling unless it's a City or Liverpool. If WHU fail, my gw is dead

      If you're not happy with either how is this;

      Fab, Button
      AWB, Foyth, Alonso, Balbuena, TAA/Digne
      Sane, FAnderson, Son, Richar, Fraser
      Kane, Auba, Jiminez

The only repeat player you have your in teams that I haven't squeezed in are Sterling/Robbo.

Can always downgrade FAnderson to Snodgrass and upgrade Foyth to Trippier too. For me to make this team it's -28 but leaves 0.7itb (if you had Digne over TAA). I don't have WC so I can't make it...

I literally removed Richar and Fraser for the first time since gw1. 2 days ago 😐
Alonso and Jimi too, but got them a bit later

          Ohh...

I'm keeping Fraser because of the value I have in him and Richar because he keeps performing.
Alonso's fixtures after City are tasty and Jimi is impressing me.

Sorry the team couldn't help you more

Your team is so tempting, I put it in, just to see on the screen.

Fraser and Rich I'm already regretting selling, but made myself a promise at the start of the season. Be hard and cut players.

            But hell it's tough :/

I'm glad you like it. It seems to cover all angles and I can't, personally, see many areas for it to go wrong.

You've got Arsenal, Spurs and City attack.
Chelsea, Spurs and even Liverpool potential at the back.
Can also rotate that midfield to bring in the like of Martial etc. Also having the big guns means easy to downgrade to Laca and upgrade elsewhere or swap out for Jesus/Aguero/Haz/Sterling/Mane/Salah if needed.

I chose Button as won't Ryan be off to play for Australia in the new year so Button may be a 4.0 starting 'keeper so potential price rise as well as back up points...

If you have both Aubamayang and Lacazette who would you captain?

Crystal Palace are better defensively than West Ham, right?

    How does this WC look?

    Kepa / Hamer
    TAA - BELLERIN - Laporte - AWB
    SANE - SON - ANDERSON - Richarlison - Stephens
    Auba - KANE - Wilson

Get rid of Kepa and upgrade somewhere?

Upgrade Stephen to Carney once he is dropped tomorrow.
      Who is 5th defender ??

      How much is Stephens?

A lot of people keep mentioning how Ederson is cheaper than Laporte, so if you're looking for defensive city cover then Ederson in the next and use the extra funds in Laporte's position.

Also who is the 5th defender?

        4.4 i think. 2pt fodder

        Yeah true... Doherty 🙂

At 4.4 I'd go Kayal (BHA) or maybe even Masuaku (WHU). I know it's a double up on WHU but Masuaku whips in a mean cross and may regain his starting position soon.

            Cheers!

Kayal has not been 100% nailed on, seems "risky" over xmas period? Same goes for Masuaku, but might be worth the risk/reward..

How does Martial, Hazard and Arnie to Anderson, Son and Lacazette look for a -4?

I could sell a Salah instead of Hazard and have an extra chunk to upgrade Laca/Auba, Son/Eriksen etc

I like Son most from the Spurs midfield at the moment, I can see Moura starting some of the CL games and Son playing the PL games. I can't do the math/know what's in your bank but how's Snoddy instead of Anderson. Does that let you do Laca > Auba?

Played over 75 minutes in each of his last three PL games. If he plays this weekend I doubt he starts in CL and if Spurs get dumped out of the CL next week well rotation risk plunges to League/FA cup only.

      Its a different team.
I would cut loose Alonso for some time & bulk up the midfield. At least get one of sane/sterling.
Rondon >> jimmy if possible too
