G-Whizz’s RMFHT

Let me start off by saying this is a first draft; obviously decisions on who makes the final cut will be made nearer the deadline and of course IB injuries permitting..

Kepa (Stekelenburg)

Luiz, Laporte, Schlupp and AWB

Hazard, Sterling(C), Pogba

Rashford, Kane, Aguero (VC)

Bench: Stephens, Romeu and Simpson

The Remainers:
Only Luiz, Laporte, Pogba, and Aguero make it into the first draft and will more than likely make the final cut too.

The Exiteers:
Fabianski, Steele, van Dijk, Robertson, Evans, Mané, Maddison, Fraser, Anderson, King, Vardy and Success.

By Position

Goalkeepers
Kepa makes the comes in as I go for a Chelsea defensive double up. Stekelenburg was brought in for Steele who looks as if he could drop in price so why take the risk? Never know when you might need that £0.1m on a Free Hit…

Defenders
AWB and Schlupp come in to double up the Crystal Palace defence, chance Schlupp could deliver attacking returns too.

Luiz completes the Chelsea defensive double up. I’m not entirely convinced with Chelsea’s current form but Cardiff and Brighton is too hard to refuse. Decent chance of at least one clean sheet there imo.

Laporte completes the four man back line as the first part of a Manchester City triple up.

Midfielders
Can’t see my FH team going without either Sterling (possible Captain) or Hazard, surely everyone and their dog will have those two. Pogba (another Remainer) makes up my trio in midfield.

Forwards
Aguero is another holding strong claims for the armband. Kane is Kane, could do anything, score a brace against Liverpool and blank against Crystal Palace! Who knows with Spurs at the moment, I think some will have to choose between him and other big hitters but for now, he can stay. Rashford slots in nicely and could be nice value…

Original team value: £107.1m
Free Hit team value: £105.7m (ITB: £0.2m)

Obviously some things will change (news on rotation, injuries etc.) and new ideas will no doubt come to the fore, but as a first draft it’ll do for now. Will still be tinkering right through the International Break and see where and what we end up with 🙂

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right?

    Ederson
    Azpi, Schlupp, Young, Luiz
    Sterling Hazard Pogba
    Vardy, Rashford, Aguero

Possibly switch Rashford to Jimenez, downgrade Luiz to 3.8 and play 3-4-3 with Martial...

Vardy? There are many better options than him at that price.

Lindelof's partner is due which is why he missed international break. She could pop before april and you could be down a defender for one or even two games!

I like the sneaky townsend and dsilva picks both capable of scoring against any team and being involved in assists at least

Cheers! Yeah I am mindful of that, will switch him out to shaw in case he is out (risking the 9YC, but I don't see a better option without downgrading my front 7)

3-4-3 is possible with deeny, for a 4-4-2 I really cant think of where to get a 4th defender from (not a fan of Duffy/dunk)

Form would favour Deeney, but again remember the FA Cup Semis afterwards.
Townsend is just a boring, linear pick.

Deulofeu and Jimenez are likely to be given limited minutes possibly only play one game due to the FA cup semi on the horizon.
If you think you are happy with that risk go for it.

I'm trying to break into the Top 5k so the below FH template is somewhat useless.

    But for those trying to crack the Top 10k, please feel free to leverage the below team;

    Ryan - (Button).

    Luiz - AWB - Duffy - Bed - (Connolly).

    Sterling - Dilva - Hazard - Pogba - (Elneny).

    Kun - Kane - (Quaner).

Any love for my 4-3-3 attempt?

    Ederson
Luiz - Lindelof - Bissaka - Montoya (from Brighton)
    Sterling - Hazard - Pogba
    Kane - Aguero - Rashford

    (A) Ederson / Luiz / Montoya / 0 ITB
    (B) Kepa / Laporte / (Tomkins + 0.2 ITB) or (Schlupp + 0 ITB)

    Leaning towards (A) because:
    - Doubts regarding Laporte's playing time
    - (B) involves double Palace defence

I am aware of this issue. Bearing in mind option (A) leaves me with nothing in the bank, what would be an ideal United replacement? Shaw/Jones/Bailly? One is injured, the other is not playing, the last is out-of-favour.

Don't fancy Brighton at the back (not that i particularly like double Palace defence), and Schlupp at least has some attacking potential. Reckon Laporte plays both too.

Would be tempted to downgrade Rashford to fund a cheap mid or more premium defender myself.

          1. Lionel Ronaldo
            • 8 Years
            5 years, 1 month ago

Brighton are actually very decent defensively for this DGW [refer to the "The best goalkeepers to sign for DGW32" article].

I acknowledge Schlupp's attacking potential, but surely this is over-rated over here, yes?

Do you think Laporte starts purely because most City defenders are injured, or do you have any other rationale?

I intend to go 4-3-3, I'm not sure what cheaper mid you expect. Sterling-Hazard-Pogba is the standard core.

            1. Eytexi
              • 5 Years
              5 years, 1 month ago

Fair point and perhaps a little but attacking potential on a cheap DGW defender is hard to ignore for me.

That and his generally consistent minutes throughout the season.

The "cheaper mid" comment was referring to downgrading the Schlupp/Montoya pick to a 3.8, Rashford to someone a little cheaper and possibly investing roughly 5.5m in a midfielder. However if you fancy a 433 then that isn't an option.

                5 years, 1 month ago

Thank you for the detailed response.

I'll be honest, I don't see much value in 3-4-3 this week [not in general, but for this DGW], so I am not looking forward to a cheap/enabling midfielder.

                1. Eytexi
                  • 5 Years
                  5 years, 1 month ago

Personally i struggled to pick an 11th player in any position (am happy with my first 10 and have 5.5m to complete the squad), so i see where you're coming from: think I'm going for Deulofeu/Deeney and braving the rotation though.

                  Good luck for the DGW!

And I am pointing out that it is not mandatory to lose value you have acquired just for the sake of losing it. I would want AWB for this DGW whether or not I have had him earlier or not. Geez.

I do not want to sell AWB who is ALREADY in my team and lose the profit I have on him. Not for Schlupp, not for anyone else. He is in my team, he will stay there, and I will keep the value I have on him.

Also, I am referring to the value for THIS gameweek, not the subsequent gameweeks. I am no idiot, I know that whatever value I have acquired on him carries over to the next gameweek.

Lately son is very erratic in terms of minutes played. I think the main weaknesses with your team are: Doherty (rotation), Son (Poor returns + Minutes managed) and No Kane (provided you see it as a weakness, of course).

            Thanks 🙂

Doherty & AWB -> Schlupp & Duffy done. Didn't really want the Palace double up.

I thought because I wasn't captaining Kane, he would be poor value. Will experiment with a Kane team though.

            I'll have to investigate Son...

I think that "not getting Kane because you are not captaining him" is a stupid argument. I've seen this many times lately. What matters the most is points.

I would rather have a 15-pointer from a player I own (but have not captained) instead of not having him at all.

                5 years, 1 month ago

Sure, but could you not get more points by spreading the money elsewhere?

His price is so huge, that I believe he can only be better value over the 7-9m players if you captain him.

Just depends on which budget players you've bought in to afford Kane...

On his domestic and international form, I would bet on Kane over most "7-9M players", whether I captain him or not.

Agreed - definitely one to monitor alongside fitness of Matic, which may influence what kind of role Pogba plays over the next couple of games.

Thoughts on this Kane + Aguero effort?

    Kepa
Luiz Laporte Schlupp Cathcart (mainly for Fulham (H))
    Sterling Hazard Pogba Milivojevic
    Kane Aguero

Don't mind the Cathcart pick actually! Perhaps Smalling/Lindy over Luiz to spread out risk in defense?

I need 2 last spots for my backline (FH).
Alongside Ederson - Azpi - Smalling.
    A. BRI + CPL
    Or
    B. Double CPL
    TIA.

Depends on budget available to you. PVA / Schlupp and Duffy appeals. Not keen on CPL double with the Spurs game.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this FH team?

    Ederson
Azpilicueta / Lindelöf / van Aanholt
    Sterling / Hazard / Pogba / Deulofeu
    Lukaku / Aguero / Zaha

    Stekelenburg / Camarasa / Peltier / Simpson
    0.00 ITB

Feel like Deulofeu and PVA are slight gambles in their own right, but hoping they might help separate me from the crowd!

Monitoring Lukaku - if it's looking unlikely that he'll play then it'll most likely be Lukaku / Deulofeu > Rashford / Alli

You have money on your bench that you could free up - i would be tempted with Young instead of Lindelof; and personally would be nervous about Zaha. Deeney instead?

Even with Camarasa > Hudson-Odoi I'm still a little short on cash. Would you downgrade PVA > Schlupp to upgrade Lindelöf?

Made some changes to my Free Hit team after not being happy with it past couple of days. Thoughts?

    Ederson
    Azpi - Luiz - Smalling - Schlupp
    Sterling - Hazard - Pogba
    Aguero - Lukaku - Zaha

    (3.9 / Stephens / Romeu / 3.8)

    Cheers! 🙂

Yep looks strong, think you've got a good team there - personally would go AWB over Smalling.

Keep an eye on any news that might come out over the IB, but looks good for now 🙂

AWB over Smalling? That's suprising considering I already have Schlupp & Zaha from Palace.

Yes will watch out for news hoping Kaku & Zaha are okay by Friday.

        Thanks for your thoughts!

Yeah I'm just really struggling to see much in United defence, those games are far from easy from a defensive standpoint in particular.

Doubling up on Palace doesn't fill me with confidence, but it's better than any alternative I see outside of City and Chelsea.

I know a lot of people would disagree though, so it's a pretty minor point!

          Good luck for 32 🙂

            Yeah agree with those points.
Just hoping Smalling can get one of his late season goal this DGW.

Cheers mate and good luck to you so well! 🙂

No other midfield options tempting you to switch to 3-4-3? Otherwise I think you've covered the right bases. Double Chelsea defense could pay off with the fixtures, but they're in poor form at the moment...

Yeah i would be tempted not to double up on Chelsea defence and rather take a punt on a 4th mid - Deul?

Not liking Spurs mids at all.
        Jota/Deulofeu feel like rotation risks.
Milivojevic would mean triple Palace and I'm not keen on that.

Basically I've tried everything and I'm not happy with any 4th mid.

I think Deul will play both games, although will get subbed, but i think the attacking potential when they are at home, is safer than CP keeping clean sheets, especially away to Spurs

Very good side- just keep eye on team news with Lukaku and Zaha flagged. If Lukaku out hopefully Rashford will be fit.

Yup I'm hoping both are fit. They look like really good differentials for this week and have stats to back it up.

What about a cheeky punt on Duffy - home to Southampton, chance of goals, and they are likely to park the bus against Chelsea?

Don't like Soton defence for this gameweek. Will look at them from GW34 onwards.

Thats my point - Duffy against the southampton defence, and southampton struggle to score

Not keen on the Zaha option (Deeney or Jiminez could get better returns from their home games).
Dilva - could pay off, but not sure he is guaranteed 180mins.
Shaw? Young better threat at the moment

I want zaha for his game vs hudd as I think he could easily get a couple of goals. Am still considering deeney though. Not sold on jimmy for this week.

I don’t think Dilva will play 180 minutes but I think he’ll start both and get something like 150-160

        Don’t have enough itb
