Aubameyang benched as Lacazette leads the line for Arsenal

Arsenal and Newcastle United meet at the Emirates this evening in the tenth match of 15 in Double Gameweek 32.

This is both clubs’ only fixture in this round of games but Unai Emery and Rafael Benitez’s sides will be in action again next weekend in Blank Gameweek 33.

The headline team news concerns the benching of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has now only started two of Arsenal’s last six top-flight fixtures (albeit one he missed through illness).

Alexandre Lacazette leads the line for the Gunners and will be supported in attack by Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil.

Aaron Ramsey has shaken off a thigh strain to start but there is no place for the injured Granit Xhaka in the match-day squad.

Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles will feature at wing-back in what appears to be a 3-4-2-1.

That is also the system that Rafael Benitez has come to favour over the past couple of months and there is only one change to the Magpies’ starting XI from the side that drew 2-2 at Bournemouth in Gameweek 31: Jamaal Lascelles replacing Federico Fernandez.

Fabian Schar misses out through suspension.

Salomon Rondon, who has seven attacking returns in his last nine league starts, leads the line again for the visitors and is supported by Miguel Almiron and Ayoze Perez up front.

Benitez’s side have the fourth-best defensive record away from home this season, having conceded 20 goals in 15 matches.

The Magpies haven’t won on their travels since Gameweek 17, however.

Only Liverpool and Manchester City have scored more home goals than Arsenal (37 in 16 matches) this season.

Lacazette hasn’t failed to register an attacking return in any of Arsenal’s last seven league fixtures at the Emirates.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Mustafi, Monreal, Kolašinac; Ramsey, Guendouzi, Iwobi, Özil, Lacazette.

Newcastle United XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Dummett, Ritchie, Hayden, Diame, Almiron, Perez, Rondon.

    Barnes to vardy for free?

Means have to play either Anderson or Diop. Also have Vvd injury risk

No one exciting to ship Anderson to. Have salah and hazard and Madison. Counted out of Liverpool players so can’t get Mane without a hit

Why sell Barnes? Is Bournemouth a defensive powerhouse, or has Barnes been benched?

Anderson and Diop are much bigger concerns for your XI

WC34/BB35-ers, how many Brighton players are you looking to bring in on the wildcard GW34 for the 2 double GWs? I'm currently definitely on Duffy & Ryan, but thinking is there a case for a punt for Murray for a budget spot upfront? (or is this a waste of a bench boost space?)

Prepared to do a -8 hit as currently I can only field 8 players for next GW. Son, Jimenez and one of the City players will be coming out.

    Do I:

    a) Mane, Vardy, Sigurdsson
    b) Mane, Tielemans, Auba
    c) Mane, Tielemans, Laca
    d) Mane, Wilson, Vardy

Logic behind this is that I'll be getting 6 points just from appearances. As I'm using 2 extra transfers just to field a starting 11, I would just need 2 of my 3 transfers to return 6 extra points for the -8 hit to be covered.

Folks prefer Tielemans, Maddison or Milivojevic next week?

    Make your case!

(I have Vardy, Pereira, AWB in my team currently)

Maddison for me. Set pieces and passing. More likely to provide from open play than Mili I think.

    Foster Ryan
    Duffy Kolasinac Doherty Bednarek Holebas
    Camarasa Pogba Deulofeu Sterling Son
Kane Auba Murray (then Murray to Rash for GW35)

    Thanks in Advance 🙂

Yeh good shout, ye could have Mane/TAA and then at least have them for the good games v Cardiff(35)/Hudds(36). 13 double gameweekers and 2 single gameweekers is all good-the LFC players could score more than a double gameweeker anyway in 35 (away to Cardiff). Dunas Dogg, are you WC'ing in GW34?

Might have something to do with him being 39. There was always a good chance he'd be out of the team again before the end of the season.

Looking at Bournemouth forums they think he was dropped and don't know why other than goal conceded vs Newcastle. Some conspiracy theories that if he plays 1 more he gets contract extension but that sounds ridiculous

    Team for 33, one dilemma:

    Fabianski
    Robertson / TAA / Luiz / Schar
    Salah / Hazard / Maddison / Fraser
    Vardy / Rondon

No subs currently but a few quid itb. Do I:

    (A) upgrade Fab to a better keeper e.g. Kepa
    (B) upgrade bench fodder def to someone who is playing this week in case of a no-show

One week only as I'll be wild-carding in 34.

    *many thanks!*
