Eriksen, Alli, Lucas and Son named in strong Spurs starting XI

After the Fantasy Premier League points-fest at Anfield last night, Gameweek 36 continues in north London as Tottenham Hotspur face West Ham United in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

Rotation was a concern for those who own Spurs assets as the Lilywhites are in Champions League action on Tuesday, with Mauricio Pochettino sending out mixed messages in his pre-match press conference yesterday – the Argentinean talking of “fatigue” and “fresh legs” but also emphatically stressing the importance of today’s fixture.

The Tottenham boss has named a strong-looking team for this London derby, however, with Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min all featuring in the starting XI.

There are some high-profile exclusions in defence, though, with Kieran Trippier and Jan Vertonghen among the players to make way.

Vertonghen isn’t part of the match-day squad but Trippier is among the substitutes, along with Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen.

Pochettino has lined his side up in a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Ben Davies and Juan Foyth at full-back and Eriksen dropping back alongside Eric Dier and Danny Rose in a three-man central midfield.

Alli will provide the support for Lucas and Son.

Manuel Pellegrini has made two changes from the side that drew with Leicester last Saturday, with Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks replacing Angelo Ogbonna and Pablo Zabaleta.

Jack Wilshere and the fit-again Javier Hernandez are among the substitutes but there is no place in Pellegrini’s 18-man squad for Aaron Cresswell or Manuel Lanzini, both of whom returned to training after minor injuries this week.

Marko Arnautovic leads the line again despite being without a Premier League goal since early January.

Just over 100,000 FPL managers transferred in Son this week, with around 67,000 purchasing Lucas.

142,887 Fantasy bosses handed Son the captaincy, with 3,289 of those using the Triple Captain chip on the South Korean midfielder.

Tottenham Hotspur XI(4-3-1-2): Lloris, Foyth, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies, Dier, Rose, Eriksen, Alli, Moura, Son.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Trippier, Janssen, Wanyama, Walker-Peters, Llorente, Skipp.

West Ham United XI (4-1-4-1): Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Masuaku, Noble, Rice, Antonio, Snodgrass, Anderson, Arnautovic.

Subs: Adrian, Zabaleta, Obiang, Wilshere, Ogbonna, Perez, Hernandez.

So looking like keeping Eriksen and Vardy(depending on his performance...) was not smart after all. 🙁

Easy ditch for Sterling next week!

Eriksen is missing Winks and Sissoko / Wanyama. Being forced to play deep. Impacting Dele Alli too as he then doesn't get as much space.

Spurs need to sign a top CM IMO.

The TC chip this season has been so contrasting. Most will have either played.
          Kun gw25 57 points
          Sane gw25 3 points
          Salah gw36 57 points
          Mane gw36 39 points

Pressure on those who have still to play it yet. Good luck to them. Glad I used mine on kun in 25. Having said that I dropped a couple of hundred places to 917 after last nights game (despite having Salah captain and TAA), due to all the TC chips played but you cant have your cake and eat it, can you ?

Gus Poyet in beIN saying "the game was very even and tied"?

Right, tell that to Lloris who had to bail his team out from a rout a few times. Fabianski barely played until injury time. Diop bottling a one-on-one and Antonio so close to gettinf and second. Spurs only dabgeroys chance probably was that Janssen header that was cleared off the line.
WHU were the ones with the winning chances from the second half. Spurs looked nowhere near the 3 pts.

Warnock: "When you look at (Fulham's) team sheet . . . a lot of money there innit?"

Is it just me, or did it feel like he wanted to say "and we still finished above them anyway" or owtte xD

Looking at the Member Zone, I don't think it'll happen. Foyth tackled once, but Davies has no deductions.

Fraser on bench, is this a wind up?

Fyi, TV has Saints playing a 4-3-3
But I reckon its a 4-2-2-2 by Ralph with

        Gunn
        Valery Bednarek Stephens Bertrand
        Hojbjerg Romeu
        WardProwse Redmond
        Ings Long

With Ward-Prowse and Redmond the two advance playemakers, and the full backs pushing up.

Ralph palyed the 4222 with Leipzig, I think he wants to ease this formation on Saints and fully implememt it in preseason. Very excting game in store imo. 352 really not for us, works only if we want to defend.

Yeah I loved watching that Leipzig, he is a great coach and just needed to keep you safe this season. He has done a great job and with some signings next season up front can be lethal, good time to support them lucky you x

Spurs very poor today. When facing defensive minded teams they don't have a plan B.

Well yes and no. I always feel Chelsea can suddenly surprise the opposition team (it helps to have Hazard), but everything Spurs tried today was telegraphed and so West Ham were comfortable.

Bad vs defemsive teams, but not quite Wolves.
