Scoutcast Episode 372 – Double Gameweek 32 disrupts run-in planning

Joe, Ted from Ted Talks FPL and Fantasy Football Scout head honcho Chris look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers ahead of Gameweek 30.

On Tuesday afternoon, just minutes before Joe was about to send his Scoutcast production notes over to his guests, the Premier League announced the next Double Gameweek of the season.

After a quick rewrite, the crew were as prepared as they could be for Tuesday night’s live show, to discuss the news that Tottenham Hotspur will face both Everton and Southampton in Gameweek 32.

For Joe and Chris, it means tweaking their Wildcard plans for Gameweek 31, with Spurs assets understandably taking centre stage. Will Joe use the north London side’s extra fixture to deploy his Bench Boost as well? These and many more issues are considered during the episode.

Meanwhile, a chipless Ted is left wondering what to do with a possibly out-of-favour Gareth Bale (£9.7m), who is currently in his FPL squad.

In addition to this look-ahead to the coming week’s fixture mayhem, the Scoutcast trio chat about Gameweek 30’s one-week punts. Could this weekend’s top defensive differential pick help propel FPL managers up their mini-leagues?

Elsewhere, Ted drops his latest graphs, detailing the players who are most likely to score and the teams who are prone to conceding goals.

The events of Blank Gameweek 29 are mulled over and, crucially, Joe, Ted and Chris reveal their captaincy and transfer plans for the full set of fixtures that await over the Easter weekend.

    Sanchez - Areola
    Targett - Cooper - White - Dallas - Dias
    Lingard - Raphinha - Son - Bruno - KDB
    Antonio - Watkins - Kane

will be changing a defender to Shaw, if Cooper is a doubt its him, if ok, its White to Shaw.

I like my fixtures this week too and I'm also going with the BB - can't think f a better week both my keepers will play and they both have good CS potential!

Like the Shaw thought - I'm thinking Alisoki to Rudiger (that seemed like a no brainer a few weeks back when he was on the bench but now he may be starting vs Sheffield Utd).

      Forster/Martinez
      AWB/Alioski/Dallas/Stones/Targett
      Bale/Son*/Gundo/KDB/Lingard
      Watkins/Kane/Bamford

    Experts assemble!

Planning on BB this week with the following...

    Forster/Martinez
    AWB/Alioski/Dallas/Stones/Targett
    Bale/Son/Gundo/KDB/Lingard
    Watkins/Kane/Bamford

All about waiting for the pressers but thinking...

    A - Alioksi to Rudiger
B - Son to Jota (if unfit)
C - Bale to Jota (if Son is fit)
D - Stick and bring in Rudiger/Jota next week

    Decisions decisions!

    Martinez
    Reguilon - Targett - Cancelo
    KDB - Son - Fernandes - Raphinha
    Kane - Bamford - Watkins

    Fabri - Lookman - Veltman - Burn

Only TC left, 1.3 ITB, 1 FT

    A) Burn to Rudiger
    B) Save FT

    Thoughts?

He's worth keeping for GW30 anyway. If he starts, he's a valid option for GW32. If not then he probably has to go.

I still holding to Salah and initially plan to get rid of him on my WC on GW31.
but Liverpool has a good run of fixtures and they still have to fight for a European place.

I haven't really tweaked the WC team much, but based on the consideration above, should I keep Salah or move to someone else like Jota?

This unexpected double gameweek has killed my wildcard plans. I had intended to go without Son but it feels like not having Son for the double is too risky. I now have to consider ditching one of Fernandes, Salah or Vardy who were nailed to be in my wildcard team.

Which one would you get rid of to fit Son in? Below are the games that they'd miss for me.

    A. Salah (31 AVL, 32 - lee)
    B. Fernandes (31 tot, 32 - BUR)
    C. Vardy (31 - whm, 32 - WBA)
    D. Don't get Son

    Hello Community

After a disaster GW where I missed the deadline because of the Cheltenham distraction (ended up with 24 pts Gundogan C Salah vc LOL)

Any thoughts on the below team?

2 FT 1.9m ITB (WC still available)

    Martinez Pope
    Cancelo Stones Keane Mee Dallas
    Salah Son Bale Gundogan Raphinha
    DCL Watkins Bamford

    Bench Headache!!

    Martinez
    Digne, Dallas, Alonso
    Gundogan, Bale, Fernandes(C), Raphinha, Lingard
    Bamford, Kane

    Sanchez, Watkins, Cresswell, Dias

Feels weird to bench Watkins vs Fulham... I will be WCing soon and removing him anyway as lets face it if I cant find room for him at home to Fulham why is he in my team. Probably the strongest outfield bench I had this season!

    Hey guys,
How is this 31 WC looking?

    Schmeichel Areola
    Dias Shaw Alonso Rudiger Coady
    Salah Bruno Jota Raphinha Neto
    Kane Antonio Iheanacho

    Unsure about the goalkeepers.
    Also, considering:
    A) Dias and Salah
    B) TAA and KDB

With yesterday's announcement, have WC31ers decided to hold off until 32 when we know the FA Cup Final?

As the general fixtures for 31 are pretty poor, I was thinking of maybe holding out for one more week and attempting WC32, BB35.

    1. Biggsy
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Would you not hold until 33? Load up on Spurs before 32 and then WC to get round the Spurs and City blanks?

Personally I may still WC - want to shift five or six players. Just means my post-WC transfers need some more thought

    2. Ruth_NZ

You should perhaps be aware that the fixture timetable given by Crellin isn't the only possibility. Doesn't even look the most likely one in my estimation.

Which do you think is most likely?

If GW36 truly is being moved to become GW37, those cup finals games must go to 35.

        1. Ruth_NZ
          • 9 Years
          3 years, 1 month ago

No, that's the mistake. Even if the schedule is altered to allow the last 2 rounds to be played before fans it doesn't mean that Crellin's version is the only way to do it.

Simplest would be to change the GW37 deadline and push all the GW37 fixtures back. So far that's the same as Crellin suggests. But that's actually all that needs doing; the GW36 deadline doesn't need to move at all.

Might sound trivial but it would actually make a big difference. Crellin's way we get an 8-team DGW35 and 4 blankers in GW36. If it's done the more simple way we get a 4-team DGW36 and that's it, no blankers at all.

No-one can say with certainty how things will transpire and there would also be an added complication if Southampton reach the FAC Final (which could actually lead to two blanks disappearing from GW33). But Crellin's proposed timetable isn't the only possibility, that's the important thing to know.

      Thats a headache.

Bale probably because seems to have fallen out of favour and played a decent amount over IB so think probably bench.

Tempted to bench Gundo over Watkins myself, but would play both if you do bench Bale.

Just worried if Bale does play he could very easily haul
