Scouting The Doubles

The best Spurs players for FPL Double Gameweek 29 and beyond

As if you hadn’t heard already, six top-flight teams will play twice in Double Gameweek 29, after three postponed Premier League fixtures were rescheduled for mid-March.

Following our look at Arsenal, attention now turns to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, in this, the second instalment of a four-part Scouting the Doubles.

Notably, in addition to their ‘double’, the Lilywhites also have a guaranteed fixture in Gameweek 30, making their assets more appealing for those attempting to negotiate the blank without a Free Hit.

All stats taken from this article are from our Premium Members Area.

THE OUTLOOK

Sizeable Double Gameweek 22 a possibility after FA Cup replays scrapped

Tottenham Hotspur’s unexpected elimination from the FA Cup means that Antonio Conte’s side can not only offer us players who ‘double’ in Gameweek 29, but also assets who are unaffected by the blanks in Gameweek 30.

For those looking further ahead, Spurs will also have another Double Gameweek to come between now and the end of the season.

And the remaining fixtures themselves are very decent, with eight of their last 12 games of 2021/22 against teams currently ranked 11th or below in the Premier League table.

Spurs’ performances have been a bit Jekyll-and-Hyde in 2022, with five wins and four defeats in the Premier League since the turn of the year (see below). However, they have improved of late, with back-to-back 5-0 and 4-0 wins against Everton and Leeds United respectively.

  • Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Everton
  • Leeds United 0-4 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Burnley 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Manchester City 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 Southampton
  • Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Leicester City 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Watford 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Now, they face a Manchester United outfit whose defensive deficiencies were badly exposed in Sunday’s derby, plus a Brighton and Hove Albion side who have conceded nine goals in their last four league matches.

    A. Doherty (mnu, bri, WHM, avl) + Lacazette (avl)

    B. Robertson (bri, ars, WAT)

Looks a no brainer like that really doesn't it?

    A) Ramsey to Kulusevski...but then not adding pkayer who plays gw30
    B) Havertz to Kulu, but Havertz has Newcastle
    C) Save and add 2 or 3 players next week (for Wood and Schar, maybe Havertz)

Is it worth taking -12 over the next 2 weeks to field 9 in GW30
    or FH

Both plans looking to get in Kane/Kulu.

    Still have WC, FH2, BB

Perhaps worth using FH in 30? You won't have to do -12 plus you'll get more points from the FH than your normal team, so you're saving at least 25 points probably

    A) Rudiger to Matip on FT for the double

Spurs are DGW29 players, so 2 extra matches (Cucu technically has DGW) gives you 2x2 = 4 points back for showing up and playing 60+ mins each. If no FH on 30, you gain further 3 extra matches, so 4 + 6 = 10 points gained.

10-8 already pays off 2 points.

Jimenez stands out as the issue, i'd find a way to get him to Kane, as for the transfers, probably a bit too many plans when so much can change in a short time, and some of the players you plan to sell could outscore the ones you plan to bring in, even if they have single gws (ie they're good players , no need to make luxury transfers, just see what looks good at start of each gameweek, and i wouldn't sell Salah in any week fwiw, can still score against city)

i think it's worth consideration - Jimi and Wolves haven't been scoring many at all and now Jimi's place doesn't even look secure, and Ramsey ''could'' cover Coutinho, but yeah Kane+Ramsey sounds a whole lot better than Jimi+Coutinho

With so many Kane configurations floating around, what do you think about these two:

    a) Son + 4.4m ➜ Kane + Gordon (-8)
    b) Fraser ➜ Kulusevski (-4)

I will probably use FH in GW30.

8 is a lot of points to lose, but Gordon will have DGW and a better bench than 4.4m striker. Will arrange for funds and buy Kulusevski in GW31. Statistically, Son has a higher chance to get more points than Kane when Spurs scores a lot. But, this year we are seeing Kane getting more points. Time to switch to Kane? Or just ride out GW29 with Fraser > Kulusevski (-4)? I bought Fraser for the two doubles, but now it looks like Kulusevski could score 4 more than Fraser in 29.

Not a bad move. However, I would do Coutinho to Saka for free and reconsider selling Bowen.

Bowen / Coutinho / Saka / Kulu all are playing in GW30. but Bowen is a doubt although West Ham official website said that the injury is not critical and he will back soon (no specified timeline). May be one or two games? All this to say that Bowen might also play in 30, but he is returning from an injury. He is central to the West Ham team and everything will go through Bowen.

Thanks for the response. Do I really need Bowen? Kulu/Saka could get just as many points? Also frees up cash to get Vardy by GW31.

        Current team
        Ramsdale
        TAA Robbo Cancelo James
        Salah(C) Son Bowen Cout
        Maupay Broja

i'd have either saka or kulu over Bowen atm, doubles and play gw30 and not injured

If you don't want Bowen in the long term, then of course, its a good move.

B i think, although Mane is a good differential and saves you 4 points, thinking about it honestly i'm not sure which is better

Have the price rise predictions been acute last few weeks with so many FH/WC being played? Normally sewers the results ... basically is it likely Saka don't rise?

hard to know, normally much fewer rises/falls than predicted, but also a few changes that were nowhere near predicted rise/fall threshold

Hmmm I'll probably wait it out then, ideally want to get the Thursday games out the way before making any moves, bound to get it wrong whatever I do tbh

        Cheers.

you're welcome - yeah i want to see the Thursday games first, but i have 0.1 spare for my planned moves, and all the players going in+out are close to rises and falls, so i might have to move early and pray for the best 😀

Is everyone asking transfer questions making moves tonight ?

thinking about it as 0.1 spare to do the moves, risky but priced out otherwise if there are any changes

I will make the move for Kulusevski. Budget is tight and I will take the risk.

If you were bringing in a 5th Midfielder at this stage, would you go Gordon or Ramsey? (Not free hitting in 30)

Ramsey I guess because he has the fixture in 30 and villa are a better team. But Gordon may be useful later with so many double for Everton, particularly if you still have the BB

    Ramsdale*
    TAA*, Tierney*, James
    Salah*, kulu*, havertz, Raphinha
    Kane*, wood* broja

    Dubravka*, saiss, ramsey, alonso

    A) Alonso -> Doherty*
    B) Alonso & havertz -> Robertson & saka*
    C) Saiss, alonso & havertz -> Doherty*, saka* & Robertson (-8)

    No FH in 30

Exact money for B so need to do it now in case of saka rise
