Kane v Son v Kulusevski: The ‘eye test’ analysis for FPL Gameweek 29

Stevie of EyeTestFPL casts the spotlight on more Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options that caught his attention in Gameweek 28, using ‘eye test’ screenshots and information from our Premium Members Area.

Having scored five past Everton in the last league match, Tottenham Hotspur seem to be finding their groove, particularly with the recent emergence of Dejan Kulusevski (£6.1m) and Matt Doherty (£4.7m) down the right flank.

The topic for the best Spurs attacking options has already been widely covered, so I would instead like to take this opportunity to take a slightly deeper dive into Antonio Conte’s best front trio at the moment.

Kane v Son

The best Spurs players for FPL Double Gameweek 29 and beyond

Harry Kane (£12.3m) has certainly been in excellent form, having scored three goals and created one assist over the last two Gameweeks. And, he seems to be building a case for himself as the best Spurs attacker to get in FPL.

However, in this article, I am making the argument that his South Korean teammate, Son Heung-min (£10.8m), may potentially have a greater goal threat than him.

Since Conte’s arrival at the north London club, it has been fairly obvious what the Italian manager wants out of his talismanic striker – to get inside the box as much as possible and score.

Evidently, he has been doing just that, playing much more like an out-and-out striker than during Mauricio Pochettino or Jose Mourinho’s reign when he was playing further away from goal.

However, human instincts are not easily curbed. Being the highly technical player that he is, Kane often finds himself unable to resist the urge to drop deeper on some occasions. That is just who he is as a player and how he wants to express himself on the pitch.

Everton did play a higher line than most teams, making this a game arguably more tailor-made for Son than Kane. Still, there were a couple of instances in which we could see the tendencies of both players – Kane looking to receive the ball near the center of the pitch while Son was spearheading the attack.

I think Kane plays better when he can see the whole play unfolding in front of him, which would further increase the South Korean midfielder’s goal threat.

Frankly, Son looked the more dangerous player in this match. At least, purely based on the eye test.

I can only get to Kane by losing Cancelo as part of a -8. How essential is he, keeping in mind he's the preferred captain option in GW30? I'll have Kulu if I decide not to go for Kane.

Would you go for it? Wildcard + FH2 still intact.

Already have Kane. But if I didn't, I wouldn't take a hit to move out Son, even if it's to get to Kane.

In my view, it depends what it involves. If it, for example involves getting Kulu, and you are losing Jimenez, i would say that is a decent move, if you want a double Spurs but dont want it can afford SON and Kane. Also, Kulu is 6.1 so in a bracket easy to move to other good assets if it fails.

    From Pep yesterday it seems:

City only had three senior defenders available for Wednesday’s game, with Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake injured, Joao Cancelo ill and Kyle Walker suspended.

The latter, at least, will be back in time for Monday’s trip to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, but Guardiola isn’t sure about Cancelo or Ake.

“I don’t know, he [Cancelo] is sick right now,” said the City manager. “We will play on Monday, we will see. Nathan is coming back too. We will see.”

My bench is James, Bowen, and King, who are all likely out.

I want to keep James and Bowen for GW31 (I'm FHing 30), and King is just bench fodder, not worth a transfer. So ideally I want Cancelo fit so I can field 11.

It's fine I'll find an alternative solution if he's out, it's just the ambiguity that's a pain 😆

Yeah no knowing is a pain but hopefully hes fit. I'd still get rid of King is hes only going to be on bench, much cheaper bench fodder than him.

    Gents,

Thoughts on these two WC teams. Not yet decided but falling massively behind this year and TV is awful, not sure taking more hits are worth it.

    A
    Foster Sá
    WHITE TAA Amartey Kilman DOHERTY
    Saka Kulusevski Raphina Salah Ramsey
    LACAZETTE Kane JOELINTON

    B
    Foster Sá
    ROBERTSON TAA Amartey Kilman LIVRAMENTO
    Saka Kulusevski Raphina Salah Ramsey
    ANTONIO Kane RICHARDSON

A gives 10 players GW30, B gives 9 but I get to keep the superior pool triple up for this DGW.

    Current team:
    Foster Sá
    Robertson TAA Cancelo Kilman Livramento
    Saka Trossard Raphina KDB Coutinho
    Antonio Dennis Weghorst

    Cheers!

Wanted a debate on using BB this week in order to get it out of the way basically..hear me out…iv used my WC and feel 36 is best for FH. If I still have my BB I will then more than likely have to use it 36 or do you think there will be another GW where it can be utilised better? * Basic point is 36 is better for FH than BB if WC already used *

Likely minutes, but first choice right now is not actually good when its Norwich.
Chelsea team will be something like this
      Mendy,
      Cho, Azpi, Christensen, Rudiger, Alonso
      Saul, Jorginho
      Werner, Lukaku and Zieych.
Mount possibly for Zieych and if Azpi plays Rwb, CHALOBAH plays Rcb, and Cho possibly in the front three. RLC possibly instead of Saul.

Is Benzema the most under rated player this past 20 years? Incredible output makes me wonder was he underutilised at Madrid and France.

France was for disciplinary issues. Has he been underutilised at Madrid? Not sure about that, he's been a key player for as long as I can remember. But yes, one hell of a player.

I thought about it but couldn’t really see many clean sheets for the doubling keepers

I agree. If Everton weren't awful I would suggest them as likely to have a dgw31/32 in addition to probably the best dgw29 fix )so you would get 2 extra games)....but it's Everton so...

People considering swapping kane for son is madness, its just 1 game dont they realise that they'll play another team next week that son will finish his chances and kane will be less in the box and the points will turn the other way....if you have one just hold, if you dont have either then get one in whoever suits your team best, if you have both then great although personally I prefer spreading the money more over 3/4 of the best teams.

Very well said, dont see the point in having both tbh, take too much money from the rest of the team, a Spurs blank which they are guaranteed to have and your team will struggle.
