Next up in our series of in-depth team-by-team members’ articles is Liverpool.

First off, we assess the levels of performance over the previous campaign across the squad, looking for trends and patterns before we check out the Merseysiders’ standout individuals ahead of the 2017/18 season.

That finds us pay particular attention to both James Milner and Roberto Firmino, as we analyse their potential ahead of likely reclassifications in Fantasy Premier League.

Having finished the 2015/16 campaign in eighth position with 60 points, the Reds racked up 76 points in Jurgen Klopp’s first full season at the helm to cement a fourth-place spot.

Liverpool found the net on 78 occasions – the fourth most potent attack in the top-flight, which was up on their tally of 63 goals in the season beforehand.

        I am thinking this too. They will share points whereas someone like Alli or Eriksen has no competition at Spurs yet (depends on transfer activity). Similarly Pogba at Utd.

    Lukaku, Jesus, Lacazette. Is it viable to start without Kane? It's risky because of the captaincy but for instance would you rather have Kane and Pogba or Lukaku and Eriksen/Alli? Kane and Sane or Jesus and Eriksen/Alli?

                  He definitely is but would you rather have Kane at Newcastle and home to Chelsea or Lukaku home to West Ham and at Swansea? I'd rather have Lukaku with Eriksen or Alli as Spurs cover. I don't plan to go very long without Kane as he's the best captaincy option in the game but leaving him out at the beginning could get you off to a quick start. There's always that early WC if necessary.

    Call me stubborn but I'm taking this Lukaku news with a massive teaspoon of salt.

    When every news outlet reports the news simultaneously it's because they've been briefed by the club. Why would United leak this news (and Everton deny it) when it's common knowledge Chelsea are very much interested in Lukaku and have been trying to tie up a deal. If anything it should be the other way around.
    Conveniently, the fee is (a relatively low) 75 million which is exactly the amount United now want to pay for Morata.
    Above all, I'm surprised Mourinho is in for Lukaku. He can guarantee goals in the PL but doesn't have the right mentality for club or manager.

    This post could be saved for endless ridicule in the future but that is my 2 cents on the situation.

        It's a good example of what we're up against. I'm trying to fit in Kane and Lukaku and end up with a similarly underwhelming midfield. God knows what those intent of having a front line of Kane/Luckyzette will have behind them.

        I'm sticking to my assertion that thee just won't be a template team this year - we're going to have to make hard - and different choices.

    Question for those who have done a draft league before. On draft day should you be allowed to use sheets of paper with your picks in order or should picks be based purely off memory?

            When has Jose ever played two upfront? Lukaku will be the central striker in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Paying that sort of money for him and playing him on the wing would be lunacy.

      Yep. I think Sterling will be the one struggling for gametime personally.

      Sane at 8/8.5 would be very tempting.

      I think that if we go for Kane and Lukaku, Jesus (and certainly Aguero and prob KdB) will be out of reach, leaving Sane as the only viable City option.
