Line-Up Lessons – Gameweek 7 – Part Two

As expected, Gabriel Jesus replaces Sergio Aguero in an otherwise settled Man City team, while Jose Mourinho surprises us all by starting a doubtful Phil Jones, while resting Eric Bailly in his defence. Elsewhere, Chancel Mbemba is omitted by Rafa Benitez while Virgil van Dijk is reinstated to the Southampton rearguard.

Here’s part two of Line-up Lessons, assessing the teamsheets and formations from Gameweek 7, with one eye on developments after the international break. Part one can be viewed here.

Manchester City

Starting XI: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Delph; Fernandinho;  De Bruyne (Danilo 90), D Silva (B Silva 76); Sterling, Sane (Gundogan 84), Jesus. Subs not used: Bravo, Mangala, Zinchenko, Toure.

  • What we saw: Pep Guardiola kept faith in the 4-1-2-3 formation for the trip to Chelsea, with Gabriel Jesus returning as the central striker in place of the injured Sergio Aguero. In the absence of Benjamin Mendy, Fabian Delph was preferred to Danilo at left-back. He was later introduced, along with Ilkay Gundogan in order to hold onto the 1-0 lead, leaving just Raheem Sterling and Jesus in attack.
  • What we learned: With a home fixture against Stoke City up next, Guardiola is expected to continue with the 4-1-2-3 system. Man City do face Napoli in the UEFA Champions League in between Gameweeks 8 and 9, though, so rotation is a concern. Jesus should lead the attack against the Potters, but there is a chance Aguero may be ready to return against Burnley. Bernardo Silva is a viable alternative to Sterling, Sane and David Silva, while Gundogan could also be a factor in central midfield. Danilo should see some minutes in either full-back position over the next two league fixtures, while Vincent Kompany (calf) may be ready to return after the international break, threatening Stones’ pitch-time in particular.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Full-backs, central defenders, flanks

Manchester United

Starting XI: De Gea; Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Young; Matic, Fellaini; Mata (Herrera 76), Mkhitaryan (Lingard 66), Rashford (Martial 71); Lukaku. Subs not used: Bailly, Blind, Romero, Darmian.

  • What we saw: Jose Mourinho retained the usual 4-2-3-1 formation for the visit of Crystal Palace to Old Trafford, with Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini – who had all been pre-match doubts to varying degrees – available to start. Eric Bailly was handed a rest, with Chris Smalling given his first league start of the season in central defence. The Man United boss switched to a 4-3-3 late on, with Ander Herrera in central midfield, and fellow substitutes Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial flanking central striker Romelu Lukaku.
  • What we learned: Mourinho continues to favour the 4-2-3-1, particularly against the lesser sides, but with a trip to Liverpool up next, there is a reasonable chance he opts for a more solid 4-3-3. That could mean Herrera joining Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini in central midfield, with Juan Mata more likely to make way than Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right of a front three. Martial and Rashford continue to be locked in rotation for the left flank role, although Rashford has now started six of the seven Gameweeks, with Martial used mainly in European ties. In defence, Bailly will be expected to return to replace Smalling at Anfield.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Central midfield, attacking midfield

Newcastle United

Starting XI: Elliot; Yedlin, Lascelles, Clark, Manquillo; Shelvey, Merino (Hayden 75); Ritchie, Perez (Diame 90), Atsu; Joselu (Gayle 78). Subs not used: Murphy, Lejeune, Darlow, Gamez.

  • What we saw: Rafa Benitez stuck with the 4-4-1-1 system for the home meeting with his former club Liverpool, but did opt to recall former Reds midfielder Jonjo Shelvey in place of Isaac Hayden. Chancel Mbemba was also surprisingly left out of the matchday squad, with Javier Manquillo recalled at left-back.
  • What we learned: Following another positive result, we should see a very similar line-up for the trip to Southampton. Manquillo and Shelvey may have done enough to retain their starts ahead of Mbemba and Hayden, while changes appear unlikely elsewhere. Matt Ritchie has withdrawn from the Scotland squad due to a knock, but he will be expected to be in contention for the south coast trip. The likes of Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy and Dwight Gayle all look unlikely to force their way back into the starting XI for now.

Current Status: Settled
Risk Areas: Left-back, central midfield

Southampton

Starting XI: Forster; Cedric Soares, Van Dijk, Yoshida, Bertrand; Romeu, Lemina (Austin 86), Davis (Boufal 61); Tadic, Long, Redmond (Gabbiadini 67). Subs not used: McCarthy, Hoedt, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse.

  • What we saw: Mauricio Pellegrino decided to hand a first start of the season to Virgil van Dijk, with Wesley Hoedt making way in central defence. The rest of the side remained unchanged in the usual 4-2-3-1 formation. Sofiane Boufal was introduced onto the left wing just after the hour mark. Dusan Tadic moved to the No 10 role, and Shane Long to the right once Manolo Gabbiadini was brought on as the lone striker. That became a 4-2-4 late on, with Charlie Austin joining the Italian up front.
  • What we learned: After making a strong impression from the bench, Boufal could come into contention for a start when Newcastle visit St Mary’s in Gameweek 8. Any of the three starting attacking midfielders could make way, while in attack, Gabbiadini and Austin are viable alternatives to Long. Van Dijk and Yoshida may again be favoured in central defence, although Hoedt will push for a recall should Pellegrino wish to freshen things up.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Central defenders, flanks, attacking midfield, lone striker

Stoke City

Starting XI: Butland; Zouma, Cameron, Wimmer; Diouf (Johnson 90), Fletcher, Allen, Pieters; Shaqiri (Afellay 87), Choupo-Moting, Berahino (Crouch 70). Subs not used: Grant, Tymon, Adam, Sobhi.

  • What we saw: Potters boss Mark Hughes used a 3-4-2-1 formation against Southampton, with Xherdan Shaqiri playing centrally behind lone striker Saido Berahino, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting operated wider on the left. Hughes welcomed back Kurt Zouma, Geoff Cameron and Kevin Wimmer in central defence, with Glen Johnson and Ramadan Sobhi dropping to the bench.
  • What we learned: Jese Rodriguez missed the 2-1 victory due to compassionate leave but the Spaniard should be available again for the Gameweek 8 trip to Manchester City. Despite scoring the winner against the Saints Peter Crouch appears unlikely to force his way into the starting XI for City, so Jese could get the nod over Berahino in attack. Bruno Martins Indi (groin) isn’t expected to be available for the trip to the Etihad, while Ryan Shawcross (back) remains doubtful, so the three-man defence looks set to remain untouched.

Current Status: Settled
Risk Areas: Central defenders, lone striker

Swansea City

Starting XI: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson (Clucas 87); Britton (Roque Mesa 69); Sanches, Ayew, Carroll; Abraham, Bony (Fer 46). Subs not used: Nordfeldt, van der Hoorn, Rangel, Narsingh.

  • What we saw: After ending the Gameweek 6 defeat to Watford in a 4-1-2-1-2 midfield diamond, head coach Paul Clement stuck with that system for the trip to West Ham. Ayew started at the tip with the recalled Leon Britton at the base. Renato Sanches also returned in central midfield for the Swans, with Sam Clucas and Leroy Fer dropping to the bench. Fer was introduced at half-time, with Bony feeling tightness in his hamstring. The Dutchman operated at the tip of the diamond, with Ayew shifted slightly further forward in support of Abraham.
  • What we learned: The Welsh outfit have confirmed that Bony suffered no injury at the London Stadium, so providing he returns from international duty fully fit, he should be available for the Gameweek 8 clash at home to Huddersfield Town. Clement is expected to keep with the back four, so his options appear to be to either stick with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation, or consider switching to a 4-3-3. In the 4-1-2-1-2, Ayew, Bony and Abraham all appear certain starters, with Roque Mesa, Fer and Sam Clucas different options in midfield. Both Nathan Dyer and Ki Sung-yeung have featured for the U23s over the past week as they look to build up their match fitness, and may have an outside chance of being available to feature from the bench against the Terriers.

Current Status: Slightly Unsettled
Risk Areas: Central midfield, flanks, forwards

Tottenham Hotspur

Starting XI: Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier (Walker-Peters 82), Winks, Dier, Davies; Eriksen (Sissoko 74), Alli; Kane (Son Heung-min 87). Subs not used: Vorm, Nkoudou, Llorente, Foyth.

  • What we saw: Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino again turned to the 3-4-2-1 formation against Huddersfield Town, although he did hand a first league start of the season to Harry Winks, who replaced Moussa Sissoko in central midfield. Kieran Trippier came in for the suspended Serge Aurier at right wing-back.
  • What we learned: Following the emphatic 4-0 win, Pochettino is expected to stick with the majority of the same side for the visit of Bournemouth to Wembley after the international break. Sissoko could replace Winks in central midfield, while Mousa Dembele will also be an option if he is fit following an ankle injury. Aurier will be available again following his one-match ban and is a viable alternative to Trippier at right wing-back. Son Heung-min could operate on the left wing if Pochettino considers switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Cherries, with Davinson Sanchez’s start in doubt should he use that system.

Current Status: Settled
Risk Areas: Right wing-back, central midfield

Watford

Starting XI: Gomes; Femenia, Mariappa, Kabasele, Holebas; Doucoure, Capoue (Pereyra 62); Carrillo (Gray 74), Cleverley, Richarlison; Deeney. Subs not used: Karnezis, Janmaat, Britos, Hughes, Watson.

  • What we saw: Despite Miguel Britos being available following his three-match ban, Marco Silva decided to stick with Adrian Mariappa and Christian Kabasele in central defence against West Bromwich Albion. The Hornets head coach only made one change, with Troy Deeney handed his first league start of the season in place of Andre Gray as the lone striker in the usual 4-2-3-1 formation. When Silva decided to introduce Roberto Pereyra, he switched to a 4-1-4-1, with the Argentine joining Tom Cleverley in central midfield. The Watford boss then switched to a 4-4-2, with Pereyra moving out to the right and Gray joining Deeney up front.
  • What we learned: Silva demonstrated that when chasing a match, he isn’t afraid to throw men forward in more attacking formations. Up next for the Hornets is a home meeting with Arsenal, so Britos may push for a recall in central defence, while should either Sebastian Prodl (hamstring) or Younes Kaboul (leg) be available, they could also be in contention. Gray’s pace on the counter-attack could see him get the nod over Deeney’s physicality against the Gunners.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Central defenders, lone striker

West Bromwich Albion

Starting XI: Foster; Dawson, Hegazi, Evans, Gibbs; Krychowiak, Barry; Brunt (Livermore 62), Rodriguez, Phillips (McClean 58); Rondon (Robson-Kanu 72). Subs not used: Myhill, Nyom, Morrison, Chadli.

  • What we saw: Baggies head coach Tony Pulis opted for a 4-4-1-1 formation against Watford. Salomon Rondon returned as the lone striker, with Jay Rodriguez operating just behind the Venezuelan. Matt Phillips (right) and Chris Brunt (left) were handed recalls out wide, with Jake Livermore and Allan Nyom dropping to the bench. Pulis switched to a 4-5-1 during the second half, with James McClean taking over down the right wing, while Rodriguez shifted over to the left.
  • What we learned: It’s likely we’ll only see Pulis switch to a back three against the leading clubs, so with a trip to Leicester City up next, he is expected to use either a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-2-3-1 formation. Ahmed Hegazi continues to keep his place in the side, but with Nyom and, potentially, Gareth McAuley, options in defence, the Egyptian remains at risk. Pulis has plenty of midfield options, with Livermore and James Morrison possible starters. Hal Robson-Kanu remains the back-up option to Rodriguez and Rondon in attack.

Current Status: Slightly Unsettled
Risk Areas: Defence, central midfield

West Ham United

Starting XI: Hart; Zabaleta, Fonte, Reid, Cresswell; Kouyate, Noble (Lanzini 62); Antonio, Chicharito (Sakho 78), Ayew (Masuaku 78); Carroll. Subs not used: Adrian, Byram, Ogbonna, Rice.

  • What we saw: Having been favouring a 3-4-3 formation of late, Slaven Bilic switched to a 4-2-3-1 system for the home encounter with Swansea. With the match at 0-0, the Hammers boss brought on the fit-again Manuel Lanzini for Mark Noble in central midfield, while Arthur Masuaku operated out of position on the left wing in place of Ayew.
  • What we learned: The change of formation eventually paid dividends for Bilic, but there remains uncertainty over which system he’ll favour. In a 4-2-3-1, it’s difficult to get the best out of both Carroll and Chicharito. But it does allow Antonio, Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic – who missed out due to illness last weekend – to start in the attacking midfield positions. Ayew and Diafra Sakho provide other attacking alternatives, while Masuaku has impressed in a couple of matches coming on as a left winger. Bilic has so far, at least, been reluctant to use a 4-4-2, though that may have been influenced by the number of injuries he’s had to deal with. In a back four, it’s likely that Angelo Ogbonna will continue to miss out.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Flanks, attacking midfield, forwards

Why not just get Cedric? Yoshida was rested after last international break. Now he has Hoedt, VVD and Stephens so Yoshida is far from guaranteed a start in gw8

Cedric when he drops means he is waiting for Cedric to drop to 4.9 before getting him in place of Yoshida.

Looks good. As a Cedric owner, it's frustrating he is close to a drop with 4 good fixtures coming up, while Yoshida is rising even though he is more of a rotation risk....

Is Kane essential for the next three? Yes BOU is a plum fixture but after that it is Liverpool and United, with two games vs Real inbetween.

Thinking of going Morata > Jesus instead.

Before the Kun and Morata injuries, I had contemplated WC'ing this week and dropping him because the fixtures and his Wembley form. There aren't any better options to fill a squad with now however and if you left him out on a WC he may be 12.9m or more by the time you want him back.

But I don't expect 13pt hauls from him over the next few weeks

Kane scores against anyone and is blistering form. I understand not picking him because he's out of your price range, but fixtures shouldn't really influence your thinking.

Saying all that, Jesus ain't a bad pick because they are going to score a lot of goals the next few.

I have both, which doesn't really help you, but does probably undermine my own analysis....

I'm thinking of holding on Firmino as the crazy differential ... could backfire spectacularly.

I know Leicester's fixtures are looking great but not sold on Vardy banging in goals consistently

Looking very likely Morata out for at least next couple so Firmino blanking still means 2-3 points vs 0 for Morata

This is my WC-plan (button is pushed alreaddy) atm.
    Comments?

    Fabianski (elliot)
    ____ Ward Monreal Davies (mbemba)
    ____ Sterling Hazard (loftus Carrol)
    Jesus Vardy Kane

Plan is to rotate RCL and Ward when wards fixtures are tough.

    with either
Otamend and Ramsey + 0.7m ITB
    Cedric and D.Silva + 0m ITB

Will want to get kaku back sooner or later (probably around GW12).
So have a few weeks to get the team set up for that, will probably mean dropping Hazard or Vardy.
Depending on who of the City-assets gets dumped when fixtures changes again, or rotation hell slaughter the tripple up.

Having seen the emergence of wingbacks and well-priced fullbacks between 5-7m, have they outmoded punting on turds in midfield? Is having someone like Ben Davies or Cedric far better than punting on Ritchie and Gross??

Having established this fact, is 3-4-3 now an outdated formation which doesn't maximise value in teams anymore? What I see are alot of people stuck in their ways in 3-4-3, then trying to find players to fit that system - resulting in having to play Carroll/Atsu week in and week out - which is a sorry state of affairs.

Are you stubbornly trying to fit players into a 3-4-3? Or have you adapted with the times and gone 4 at the back? Or perhaps some of you have even gone more dramatic with 5 at the back?

I was stubborn 343 but it needs the value midfielders-Adam, Josh King, Mahrez etc. Chupo-Moting, Gross just aren't of the same level or value. 433 this season for me so far with a big front 6, Davies and Jones

There really is no "outdated" way to play the game. 4 at the back may have more merit in last couple of seasons, but doesn't make 4 in midfield redundant.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Best Chelsea cover

With Morata likely out for a few Gameweeks which players are you targeting for Chelsea's fine run after the international break.

Is Batshuayi an option? Or is Hazard now the best option - even if he comes with a hefty price tag and a suspect history of away day blanks?

Or is it best to focus on defence - even double up. If going for a defender who offers the best value?

Is Alonso worth his price tag?

Is Azpiliceuta worth the extra outlay given his assists have mostly come via Morata?

Are Luiz or even Cahill better bets?

I'm on a wildcard and currently am going without. I'd get Morata in a shot if he was available.

For me I really want Azpi due to his broad points potential of bonus as well. But for my set up it came down to a choice - spend that extra on Azpi and have a weak midfielder or go Silva and have a pretty good 5.0 defender (there are lots to choose from). The latter seems the better bet.

Sad though, I covet Azpi and envy all those who own him - you will do well. 🙂

          Current one has 9!

But I do think six warrants a wildcard though if you are using it to switch formation, tap into teams with good fixtures you don't have and need to shift money around. Six changes is 20 pts in hits remember...I've done some daft things in my time - specifically last season - but even I wouldn't have taken a 20 pt hit 🙂

Took a 16 point hit last season (my biggest hit ever, also once off) and gained 30pts from it but I would but I wouldn't recommend it.

I'd planned to WC this week but with Kun and Morata injured I've decided to hold. My team looks good for next week without using my transfer.

Think I'm gonna hold until I see a week that will have more risers and some of the middle table teams start to show some reliable form.

But I do feel the WC is burning a hole in my pocket

For me it was either this week or pre GWK 12 - both times of big fixture shifts.

I've gone for now but with GWK 12 changes in mind.

Timing is dependent on the person and their team - if it feels right you just know. Sounds like it didn't feel right for you so I suspect pre GWK 12 may be good for you if you can set yourself up well for GWK 8-11's games.

My side wasn't in great shape for GWK 8-11 fixtures so definitely needed a freshen up.

Impossible to say - it is based around price changes currently....also not fully settled.

Pretty certain on Silva or another Man City mid tho as an upgrade on Ritchie..... Jesus too looks well priced. Also keeping my Spurs lads. I swooped for Ward though before price range - he'll stay.

Currently aiming for Vardy although he's not in current draft. Waiting more info - looks vey pormising re recovery time for him though and being fit and raring to go for those great fixtures.

Agreed City mid & Jesus look essential on wildcard right now.

Not going for a heavy Front 3?
Can’t look past Kane - Kaku - Jesus with all these injuries to strikers.
Jesus to Morata when he’s back.

Thinking of keeping Lukaku as I think we’ll want him back in GW12 when United’s fixtures turn for the good again. And he could also be 11.9 by then end of next week.

the ideal is to save money by putting Batshuyi in and being able to get Alonso or Azpi with a view to downgrading the defender and putting Morata back in when fit.. except we just can't be sure Batshuyi gets in given Willian came on last weekend... maybe that WAS tactical but maybe not. Conte doesn't seem to rate him.

I'm in the same boat as you Jonty when it comes to WC and Chelsea cover. My thinking on Alonso is the same.

What I'm tinkering with right now is a team with Vardy + Hazard in it. Having a (hopefully) fit, ~3% owned Hazard with good fixturs ahead, might be a too good opportunity to miss.

Or to put it this way, if there is any time one should jump on Hazard "early", it is now.

But it also gives good flexibility, with 2FT vardy + hazard can easily become Bighitter upfront + mid-priced or half cheap midfielder when needed.

If anything, see what a team with him in it can bring, if one can commit to 4-3-3, it doesn't look bad, not bad at all.

Batshuayi is an excellent 1-week punt if you plan on wildcarding this week.

Simply set aside 0.5 of your budget & go Vardy if it looks like Morata's injury isnt long term. If Morata's injury is long term, you'll already be one step ahead of the others.

It's a term that grates on me 😆

To answer the actual question posed, I have no plans for any Chelsea players at the moment. I think the only one I'd consider is Azpilicueta or Alonso if budget weren't a big issue. They've really not been that threatening yet this season but they've done well because Morata has been clinical. Fewer Big Chances created than Watford, Leicester, Newcastle... the same number as WBA who everyone loves to laugh at for attacking potential.

They may well take advantage of some poor opponents and there might be value in the likes of Willian/Pedro/Batshuayi but I'm not spending transfers to find out personally.

Defence is undoubtedly the safest route now Morata is out. Whichever one fits into your budget really.

Hazard is an option for sure (I can just manage Mhki > Hazard 1FT) especially with the chance of Conte playing him as a false 9 now. But is he really back up to full speed after his injury?

That brings us to Batshuayi. In theory should slot right into the team in Morata's asence. He's shown form when given a chance but there's that unerring doubt that Conte doesn't trust him even when he's scoring valuable goals (title clincher/that one in Madrid). If Conte wakes up on the wrong side of bed on matchday he could be resigned to the bench easily.

In short, Chelsea forwards are a punt even with the fixtures in their favour, defenders (especially those with attacking potential) are almost a shoe in.

If I was to go for a Chelsea player it would be a defender.

Not sure there is an offensive option who looks plum (price, nailed & form).

I'll probably just wait until Morata is back or see if I can get in Courtois if he drops. Was optimistic David Luiz would have been 5.8.

The fixtures look too good to pass up, but this Morata injury really has made me question this. Batshuyi could be really good as a Firmino replacement, but he doesn't have the complete trust of Conte, and he's only a short term solution anyway. Hazard probably the best option, but very expensive and if i wanted to get him in some rejigging would be needed, Morata being a striker made that much easier to switch around between players.

Their defense will be good over this period, but there are already many options performing in other sides for far less outlay.

      Its a real conundrum

I suggest their ticket rating warrants a triple up. Currently own 0 lol. If I WC then Alonso and Hazard straight in due to Willian/Pedro/Fabregas-gate

Batshitcrazy is an absolute bargain at that price with those fixtures. Will he play though? I think it's a risk worth taking and may even captain him over Kane.

Batshuayi would mess up my team structure, so will avoid - one of Jesus/Lacazette/Morata will be my second striker now (Hemed third atm).

Chelsea cover would be good, but not sure it's necessary. I'd have to lose Eriksen/Coutinho to get Hazard and my defence looks decent enough as it is.

I'd do Jones -> Christensen if Luiz were to get injured/dropped but guess that's unlikely.

      currently no Chelsea.
Stil not sure their defenders are worth the price compared to others. Last season's 9/10 run of CSs was a one-off.
I've got Utd, Arsenal, Spurs defensive players atm. When Rose comes back into the equation may rethink Chelsea options. But Man City now they have a decent keeper do come into the reckoning.
Hazard is a wait and see.

      Not too bothered about coverage.
      1 of the defenders maybe.
Hazard hasn't hit form yet so possibly but maybe not worth the price,

I've got Azpi on WC and went for Vardy, leaving 2m in the bank to upgrade when Morata is back. Was tempted by Batshuayi, but not worth the risk when you have a guaranteed 90 minutes and great fixtures with Vardy.

Getting Luiz due to limited funds, maybe Bats for a punt. Then WC GW11 and find the right mix of big hitters including Chelsea, think that will be the ideal time now.

Needs just one good game from Alonso and then everybody wants him. I think Alonso & Hazard on Chelsea's left side will be difficult to stop...

Problem is, would need a hit and downgrade Lukaku or Lacazette to get Alonso. Could be worthwhile until WC, though. In that case, would get Vardy for a run,

It's time for 3.3% owned Hazard to give ranks a kick up the arse.

Already own Alonso, wouldn't mind a second defender but feel Hazard will be more beneficial for rank rises while his ownership is so low, their fixtures up to Christmas are amazing.

      1. Lazaretti

It is bit risky to own both Alonso and Hazard but if they start to score from that left side I definitely want to be on that wagon. I have Alonso and seeking options how to bring Hazard in with my 2FT.

I don't see it as risky, Chelsea won't have many problems up to Christmas, Chelsea will keep many clean sheets, Hazards will be involved in many of their goals, there's no need to over think certain situations, they are the Champions of England with a stretch of easy games not Brighton.

I'd be wary of Batshuayi. Conte opted for Willian or Pedro last season when Costa was unavailable and did so again when Morata went off at the weekend.

Hazard is the obvious choice but I'd wait to see how he performs without Morata before investing. I think that he, Pedro, Willian, and Fabregas may share the points around in the short term. Fabregas could be a good option as the cheapest of the 4 to free up funds elsewhere?

I'd definitely look at the back with Chelsea's fixtures. Alonso could well get attacking points as always! If he's outside the budget then I'd opt for Cahill for the set piece threat more than Azpi's assists.

It's a difficult choice, Chelsea and City heavy seems to be the way to go for the next set of gameweeks. I had pressed the WC button and got in Moratta before the news broke of his injury. I've changed to Jesus but that currently leaves me with Silva, Sterling and Jesus, I feel that may be overkill.
Azpi was my first pick though, it's a tough choice between him and Alonso. In the end there is more rotation risk from Alonso and I feel that Azpi is more consistent.
The other factor is Hazard, I've based the WC around getting him in even though it's a huge risk, however at this stage in the season I think it's one worth taking. Plus if it all goes horribly wrong you can downgrade to practically anyone you choose.
The only negative is that I've had to lose Lukaku and Eriksen, Romelu will be tough to get back into the side as I had him since GW1.
