The Weekend Team News

Ryan Shawcross is a fresh injury concern as Stoke City prepare for the visit of Leicester to the bet365 stadium. Philippe Coutinho looks set to miss Liverpool’s trip to West Ham United, while Spurs have a series of issues at the back as Crystal Palace visit Wembley with Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris set to miss out.

With this afternoon’s press conferences still to come, here’s the team news headlines collated so far.

Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross will be assessed for the visit of Leicester after sustaining a thigh problem. Mark Hughes will again be without Geoff Cameron (concussion) but the Potters boss is optimistic that Bruno Martins Indi could return. Glen Johnson and Peter Crouch are both okay and expected to be in contention, though both are likely to named on the bench.

For the Foxes, Ben Chilwell is a slight doubt for the Potteries trip after suffering a knock to his knee during training earlier this week.

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner has revealed that Rajiv van La Parra is available for the home clash against West Bromwich Albion, with the midfielder recovering from a groin problem.

Oliver Burke is back in contention for the Baggies following a hamstring injury, but both Craig Dawson and James Morrison remain out.

Eddie Howe has revealed Junior Stanislas and Benik Afobe will both miss the trip to Newcastle United, while a late decision will be made on the fitness of Josh King as he contniues to struggle with a back problem.

Mario Lemina remains out for Southampton’s home meeting with Burnley due to an ankle injury, but Charlie Austin has recovered from a knock and is expected to be available – he’s again sent for a bench role.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that Chris Wood will be available for the trip to St Mary’s, with the forward back in training following a hamstring strain. Steven Defour is also expected to be cleared to play following a tight groin sustained in Monday’s win over Newcastle.

Paul Clement rates Wilfried Bony as “50/50” to be in the squad for the home encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion, with the striker back in training following a hamstring injury. Angel Rangel, Martin Olsson, Leon Britton and Renato Sanches are all sidelined.

Steve Sidwell is the only absentee for the Seagulls.

Slaven Bilic expects both Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell to be fit for the home meeting with Liverpool, but Pablo Zabaleta is suspended, while Jose Fonte, Sam Byram, James Collins and Michail Antonio are all out.

Georginio Wijnaldum will probably miss the trip to the London Stadium due to an ankle injury, while Philippe Coutinho (groin) looks very likely to miss out once again. Dejan Lovren (groin) could be available, though he may struggle to oust Ragnar Klavan to earn a recall.

Spurs duo Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld look set to miss the home encounter against Crystal palace, with Mauricio Pochettino expected to provide confirmation in his press conference later today. Michel Vorm would come in between the sticks, while the Spurs boss may consider reverting to a back four for the Eagles visit. Danny Rose and Serge Aurier are expected to push for starts at full-back after they sat Wednesday’s win over Real Madrid.

Finally, Sead Kolasinac will undergo a late fitness test on a hip problem ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City. The Bosnian is expected to be in contention to be named at left wing-back in a largely unchanged Gunners side that saw off Swansea City last time out.

Pep Guardiola will give his conference later today, although we should not expect too many clues as to his starting XI. Some pointers on the likelihood of Sergio Aguero’s start – in light of his record-breaking strike in midweek – could be the most we can hope for.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section, along with our predicted line-ups, ahead of this tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

i'm not a huge fan of swapping between strikers as there are always other things i need my FTs for, and switching around between premium players can mean you miss their points as you never know which game they'll haul in

i think it's a question of picking the ones you can't live without and accepting the others can't make the team - there will always be a time when injury/suspension forces your hand and makes the decision easier, it's not a permanent until end of season transfer

I started the season with Kaku, and had him most of last season, but for me Kane is more explosive and i couldn't fit both in my team - if Kaku shows signs of exploding then i'll reconsider my team set-up, but at the moment he seems a bit like Costa from last season, steady points but not quite enough to justify the price tag

Davies -> Sanchez for a hit? Secured starts and my first sub will be a LEI def who i am pretty certain will concede. On the other hand when Davies starts he is capable of scoring more than 10 points, so dropping him for a hit seems a wrong move. Thoughts?

I've gone for Sanchez too. Followed him last year in the Eredivisie and he scored quite a few goals (iirc even one overhead kick) from corners. Think a goal is coming for him! Though I doubt the move is worth a hit

I can't decide who to sell for Alli. I've got 2 options:
    A) Silva
    B) Sterling
My preference would be to sell Sterling and keep Silva, because as long as I'm a fan of Sterling and his stats are inredible, Silva is 100% nailed and his stats aren't that bad either. BUT if I sell Sterling I'm also able to do Bavies -> Vertonghen. If I sell Silva I'm 0.1 short. Dunno, what would you do? Any advices appreciated.

    Worth a repost!

    ATTENTION!

Some sound advice which should be followed. Spurs who just pumped the best team in the world are playing one of their easiest fixtures (if not the easiest) of the whole season! Harry Kane is not only the best player player in the premier league but one of the top strikers in the world right now and one the most EXPLOSIVE FPL players the game has ever seen.

Don't be that guy who doesnt have him.

See above, scout tweets mistakenly put Verthongen instead of Toby in their tweet. My bad by not clicking the link.

Vertonghen is perhaps an error. 😉

Great! I've been worried about Davies been benched all week, and now it seems he'll start but not keep a cleanie... x-)

With Toby and Vertonghen out, Davies starting berth becomes more likely (although Spurs clean sheet becomes less likely with Lloris out as well 🙁 )

Can't be Rose - Dier - Sanchez - Aurier, can it?

Verthongen is OK, it's an error from scouts.

Same dilemma. Think I'm leaving it and monitoring other options like Choup-Moting or Gray.
