International Minutes Assessed – Part Two

After rolling out Part One of our assessment of the recent internationals, we now examine the pitch time and distance travelled by those players who ply their trade for the remaining ten teams.

NEWCASTLE

With Tim Krul already a long-term absentee, Rafael Benitez was dealt a cruel blow following the season-ending knee injury suffered by Rob Elliot whilst playing for Republic of Ireland against Slovakia on Tuesday night. Chancel Mbemba and Henri Saivet will need to be assessed following long flights back to Tyneside.

Rob Elliot – Republic of Ireland (25/03 (h) v Switzerland in Dublin and 29/03 (h) v Slovakia in Dublin) – Unused substitute against Switzerland, but started against Slovakia. Suffered a serious knee injury during the first-half on Tuesday night, and has been ruled out for at least six months.

NORWICH

None of the Norwich players face long flights back, with Dieumerci Mbokani not featuring for DR Congo after being at Zaventem Airport in Brussels during the terror attacks. Alex Neil shouldn’t have too many issues as he prepares his side for the crunch home clash against fellow strugglers Newcastle on Saturday.

Martin Olsson – Sweden (24/03 (a) v Turkey in Antalya and 29/03 (h) v Czech Republic in Solna) – Was an unused substitute against Turkey, but played the full match against Czech Republic, registering an assist in the 1-1 draw.

Graziano Pelle – Italy (24/03 (h) v Spain in Udine and 29/03 (a) v Germany in Munich) – Only played 60 minutes against Spain.

Odion Ighalo chalked up 180 minutes for Nigeria over the international break, and with their second match taking place on Tuesday, the striker will need to be assessed when he returns to the club. Juan Carlos Paredes also played late on Tuesday night, and may only arrive back at some point today.

WEST BROM

Salomon Rondon wasn’t available for Venezuela’s second match due to suspension and flew back to the midlands early as a result. That should increase the chances the striker starts against Sunderland on Saturday, while Gareth McAuley, Jonny Evans and James Chester all played their second matches on Monday night, giving them some extra recovery time.

Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans – Northern Ireland (24/03 (a) v Wales in Cardiff and 28/03 (h) v Slovenia in Belfast) – McAuley played the full 90 minutes and Cardiff, before playing just the first-half against Slovenia. Salomon Rondon – Venezuela (25/03 (a) v Peru in La Paz and 30/03 (h) v Chile in Barinas) – Played 90 minutes against Peru, but missed the Chile match due to suspension and travelled home early.

WEST HAM

Slaven Bilic will be delighted with the form Dimitri Payet showed on the international duty, while he’ll also be pleased he only played 27 minutes on Tuesday night, meaning he should be pretty fresh for the home encounter against Crystal Palace. Enner Valencia did play both matches for Ecuador though, and will need to be assessed on his return to the club.

Im guessing that is WBA Olsson? I just dont think they'll do well in the double, and looking at their fixtures after its very very tough!

Rather have Kirchhoff for good pre-double fixtures as well as his double in 37

I was all for Rojo but there were recent tweets on here that suggested he's looking to leave in the summer. May stunt his gametime.

Smalling is a great place holder for Ivanovic later on

Agreed, would have a pretty bad benching headache post bench boost otherwise.

Only worry is Gabriel vs Rojo for nailedness, surely Gaal will rotate more than Wenger?

You'd think LVG would have more reason to rotate, though it depends on the alternatives to Rojo he has fit and available. United defenders aren't exactly the healthiest bunch.

Reigns could be a badass heel, but the forced face isn't fair on him right now.

Have a feeling Goldberg will be back in the next 11 days though.

yeah, and with special privileges. He's also younger and needed pro-wrestling as his health means he couldn't stay in UFC

would seems odd to offer Goldberg a similar deal, and Goldberg is financially set for life.

Wwe didn't understand the Goldberg gimmick. I guess it was quite one dimensional, he worked best in short matches and don't let him anywhere near a mic. Wwe just made him do stuff everyone else does when he was a unique character

It's an odd storyline to begin with.

The thing is that. if Shane wins firstly it makes the streak seem meaningless and 2ndly it arguably kills some of Lesnar's aura as the only guy to ever beat the Undertake at Mania.

            especially if it's Shane.
I think they had Cena lined up but the injury hasn't healed. maybe they hoped to give him more time and swap Shane out for a representative.
Somehow the hell in a cell match will tie in with the title match.

there's a brand split planned end of this month though so Shane/Vince for Raw, HHH and Steph for SD?

              didn't know that

they cancelled the brand split a few years back

I can't see Reigns turning heel, but he's getting booed out of arenas as badly as Cena, but he doesn't have the merchandise sales that Cena does.

I guess they have a whole pool of NXT guys to find room for as well now.

Rollins getting injured also forced some changes in the plan

Hopefully there is no Shane v triple h match but I can imagine some good matches on nxt and raw. It would give nxt superstars a chance to show what they got and wwe to find out which ones are ready to hang with the big boys

    Robles - Darlow
    Otamendi - Bellerin - Jagielka - Sakho - Reid
    Sanchez - Ozil - Payet - Coutinho - Milner
    Aguero - Lukaku - Deeney

Before GW35 I'll do Deeney>Defoe and Jagielka/Sakho to Van Aanholt.

Cheers. I think you could be right. Defensive options are tough this week...

        - Williams (STK)
        - Alderweireid (LIV)
        - Fuchs (SOU)
        - VVD (LEI)
        - Francis (MCI)

Reckon Williams and Fuchs purely because I think LIV, MCI and LEI have the higher potential to score.

Should I go with Janmaat over Reid or Jagielka on my WC?

If I go with Reid and Jagielka I'll have to transfer one of them out for Van Aanholt before GW35 to get 11 and to get in a DGWer.

If I go with Janmaat instead of one of them I can roll a FT to the next gameweek and get in one of Reid/Jagielka/Smalling/Klose/Ivanovic/Azpilicueta for GW37.

    Looking at most WC's on here and I'm wondering the following;

    Why Payet over Antonio?

Payet - No goals at home since GW 5.
3 assists at home all season

    Antonio - 1 home blank (7 starts, 5 goals, 2 assists, 12 bonus points)

3 home games in the next 3 GW’s. This is an absolute no brainer for me given that I can spend the extra 2.9m somewhere else like having the out of form but explosive Sanchez and keeping Kane.

Payet is obviously a class act but we should be considering season home/away form too as we have been doing it with the City players most of the season.

    Why Bellerin over Koscielny?

Bellerin - Obvious attacking benefits to owning him with the fixtures, but no goals or assists at home all season. (6 bonus points)

Koscielny - 2 goals, no assists (6 bonus points) at home this season and looking back at previous seasons quite likes a goal at home to 'bottom half teams’.

Ownership not a factor as well though? Bellerin and Payet have large ownership. They he'll and you don't have them it has a larger effect than missing the others hauling. Depends how many punts you have in your team though.

This is true but trying to make a late push to climb OR and finish as high as I can so willing to take the risks. to be honest since I sold Payet and Ozil 6/7 weeks ago ive shot up the ranks and both have been scoring reguarly so its not a huge factor. (as long as we cover the points with our new signings of course)

          • 10 Years

Yeah I agree. Hitting the right punt at the right time over a big ownership is hugely effective. Just depends on how many punts you want to take. Personally I'm holding kane and mahrez with one of the main reasons being I don't want punished albeit they are good picks anyway. For weeks this season I had sanchez and not Ozil and it killed me.

Re Payet though I was considering for a while doubling with lanzini to cover Payet and get the differential. That was prior to the Everton double double though and lanzini is now lennon.

I'm bring in Payet GW36 for sure but just need the cash for 34. Ive managed to keep hold of Mahrez and Kane myself which is the benefit of saving that few quid with Antonio.

Lennon for the first double then ship to Lanzini maybe? prefer Evertons first double on paper.

Thanks all. Will contribute to the wildcard deliberations of those waiting until next week when I'm back from holiday.

Firmino didn't train and is a major doubt but the rest looks decent.

With CBJ returning Rojo might be a rotation risk, so is Gabriel imo

Literally 0.1m over budget on my wildcard 🙁

who would you trim for a cheaper player albeit from the same club

    DeGea Darlow
    Darmian Janmaat Clichy Clyne Kosielny
    Payet Firmino Lennon Sanchez DeBruyne
    Lukaku Welbeck Rooney

    Thoughts???

I think Lennon is a risky pick so could sacrifice his extra DGW and go for someone like Lanzini?

Lennon is the most inform Everton pick I feel it's risky yes but could be so worth it not think i'm not sold on lanzini yet

Why on earth would you want Rooney? Downgrade and use the cash.

      Clichy nd Darmian both risky.

he is back gameweek 33 and the man utd fixtures in gameweek 34 are too tempting not to have a man utd attacking player and I feel rashford will be dropped for him

if not rooney who in man utd attacking wise would you pick, the home fixture to aston villa and palace is too tempting not to have a man u player even the villa fixture alone

After having played the game very averagely for 31 weeks but finally made some decent progress in the last 3 I find myself wildcarding and bringing a number of players I haven't owned all season for the sake of 2 dgw's . I look at the end result and think it looks way worse than what I had previously.
Anyone else having the experience ?

Planning to wildcard later. Got 2 free transfers and dont want to lose one. Was going to do Siggy to Firmino but maybe not now.

    Gomes Forster
    Bellerin Toby Fuchs Daniels Wolly
    Ozil Payet Siggy Mahrez Alli
    Aguero Kane Vardy

    2.7 itb

    A) Toby and Siggy to Sakho and Sanchez
    B) Vardy to Lukaku
    C) Alli to Antonio

    Cheers

    RMWCT? thanks

    Robles Mignolet
    Bellerin Dann Simpson PVA Janmaat
    Ozil Sanchez Payet Coutinho Bolasie

1.2itb so as to 33= save, 34= Dann to Rojo/Man City defender and Bolasie to Firmino.

    thanks
