The ScoutCast – Episode 195 – Zlatan

Inevitably, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stalks Episode 195 of the ScoutCast. Lauding over us like a Eric Cantona wannabe, the big Swede has wasted know time in getting Granville, Jonty, Andy and myself all in a tizzy.

Do you dare go without the Zlatan/Aguero double act? How do you adapt your midfield to accommodate the pricey pair? Will a wolf enter the Scout hut and interrupt the broadcast?

These questions and more are all answered over the course of another 70 minutes, as Jonty serves up our first “Rough with the Smooth” Gameweek tales from the community, before throwing us the best of your questions gathered throughout the week.

In other news, we’re still 100 episodes short of Last of the Summer Wine’s 295. Stick with us guys, we’re nearly almost there. Coincidentally, we also stopped being funny back in episode three.

Tadic owner here, I feel you can't ignore him with those underlying stats. Bound to come good soon, and where better than Sunderland at home?

Redmond. That 1.5M will come in handy, but I do believe Tadic will get more points in the long run.

Imagine if Chelsea sign someone like Lewandowski on the last day of the transfer window. Not saying it's likely, but I'm just imagining the scramble to wildcard then

Galloway WBA should really be starting at LB instead of Evans who is a CB. Do you think he will make that spot his own?

Galloway will nail down that position imo with Brunt likely to be pushed forward now in his more natural position.

The question is just if Galloway starts immediately, and based on his solid debut in the cup midweek that could be very likely.

I'll be bringing him in if he starts this gw. He loves to attack and that's possibly fpl gold for a Pulis defender where clean sheets are also likely.

Nice team. None of your starters I would change this week. Maybe do Paredes to Amat before he rises tonight as you have no other issues.

Dont think Leicester will be as good this year so maybe monitor Mahreez and especially Morgan over the next couple weeks but certainly don't remove before Swansea at home.

Kingsley will play this week. It doesn't make sense to waste a transfer going for a swansea player now. They have bad fixtures. I think that transfer will be more valuable after the break and after the end of the window. You can do kingsley for amat after the break.

I like your team, but Friend is your biggest concern. Wait a bit and see if there's an injury update. I'd probably go for a 5m everton defender if friend is out. Jagielka is the safest (he rested midweek), but williams has more upside. I think williams will start this week, so i'd go for him, but might be a bit risky this week.

Starting XI looks great though Friend might not play this week. Assuming you have 2 FT use one to sort out your bench.

Paredes to a 4.5 to rotate with Friend, look to do Kingsley to Amat at some point more like to play.

I hadn't fully understood the point you were making on your 'ask Mark a question on Scout cast' post... it's literally just sunk in what you meant now.

Basically, the vital snippets of information/tactics/under the radar players/etc, that we FFS'ers would have gleened from this site to have an advantage over the 'nuggets' are now being shone directly into the eyes of the masses who do not dedicate themselves in anything like the way we have done for years. It's a valid point you've made then Sess.

Our indepth community discussions are now going to be massively aiding everyone outside the community as well. I'm going on lockdown.

            I don't think it's daft at all.

If playing the wc during the international break, and assuming SUN don't bring another keeper in by next Wednesday, this could be a fantastic way to raise and release funds prior to gw4.

If you have Heaton and/or Foster, and they have another solid gw3, then it's possible they continue to rise over the 2 week break before gw4. You then can cash in on those rises by bringing Pickford and/or Jaku in just before gw4's deadline and possibly have 1.0mil or more to make upgrades elsewhere, especially if you have a Kun/Ibra double up where the midfield may suffer a little.

With Vito now being out for months, that gives you plenty of time to raise funds elsewhere and eventually make a move in the future to release further funds and upgrade Pickford or Jaku when the time comes.

Of course it depends on whether their respective teams make any further moves before the transfer deadline, but if not, an 8mil keeper combo could be a very clever wc tactic imo.

"2.Target: Denotes the likelihood that a player's price will change overnight. Values in excess of 100, or lower that -100, indicate players that are likely to change in price."

"9.A players price will change when the total number of transfers in (or out) of that player reaches a threshold value. The rate at which this threshold is reached is dependent on twelve parameters. Unfortunately to complicate matters these individual factors vary throughout the season. This season a further complication has arisen whereby not all transfers are equally effective (e.g wild cards and other factors). This programme now determinesa the probability that each transfer contributes to reaching the threshold."

It's an art not a science - to be used as an indicator rather than gospel.

Can put forward a question to Mark for the next Scoutcast 'Do you think the relationship you're building with Official FPL is damaging the FFS website and community?'

Because I certainly think it is. Needs to have a cold hard look at the long term implications, as much as I'm sure the extra money is nice.

Not saying should work with them, from a business point of view it would be silly not to, but at least hold back some info and keep a lot of the best stuff for on here, which doesn't seem to be the case at the moment. The site has definitely suffered this season.

I doubt that the "community" is an important factor business wise. No way that this question would be addressed on the Scout Cast anyway.

I totally get what u are trying to say. I feel totally distant from ffs now. The second fpl opened and I saw ICT stats in there I got worried and even stated that as the reason for me not getting membership this year. I can imagine myself slowly just ignoring ffs altogether and just sticking to playing fpl since the whole purpose of visiting this site is slowly disappearing

You need to remember this is a very small community if you compare it against the more larger "casual" players. The opportunity to grow lies within the casual community, the information and stats provided on the site allows for those who are not so die hard at the moment to feel like they are more involved

I kind of like the videos and the information if I am being honest but in turn wouldn't like to see it mean this site goes downhill

The success of the site necessitates this growth, and it has been on the cards for a while - for example, in the advertising of Daily Play games despite the form not being adopted on here (a relationship clearly made because, and for, money). A relationship with FPL, Dream team, or whoever else is hardly a surprise.

And the site won't die, because it is a comfortable place of exchange now - both of knowledge and chat. The casual FPL player will not suddenly become knowledgeable because the Scout recommends Barkley because of form. Long term planning is the way to be successful and I dont see the problem with a little bit of more information being out there. It just adds to the competition.

          Hi Sess

I'm obviously super busy as it's Friday etc. However, I will come back on this again.

From my situation, I'm fully aware that with the Premier League communicating the content we provide far more, it will impact on the site and other FPL community sites but I really don't think there's much I or anyone else can do about it.

FFS is a public site - all the information is available, either we continue to work with the Premier League as we've done for five years, or they will simply go and employ some other freelance journalists to read FFS and other articles from around the FPL community and turn it into content at their site. It really isn't difficult.

It was a tough decision but I personally couldn't see another option. At the point the Premier League decided to push FPL editorial, FFS had to decide whether to be part of it or let it pass us by and see our content taken and reworked on the Premier League by other hired hands.

Much of the material you see being pushed now by the Premier League was provided before. We wrote 5-6 pieces a week for the last two seasons with lots of information including differentials, ones to watch, stats analysis etc.

However, much of this was missed by folk here.

The main difference now is the Premier League are cutting this up into more articles and employing a social media team to push it.

I'm not sure how FFS could have stopped that. Again, I either had to decide to be part of it or just watch it happen without us involved.

My task now is to re-align FFS to provide something different. For me, at least my days are now focused on Fantasy Football and not on producing videogames. It means I can reply to threads like this and work on ways of developing FFS alongside what we do with the Premier League.

I hope you can see the situation and can understand why we're doing what we're doing. As mentioned, I don't think it was something we could resist or fight against.

Thanks for the post, Mark. It makes a lot of sense... can you just make sure you bowl the 'casuals' a few 'googlies' and keep some of the seriously golden nuggets out of the limelight at times? I think you should keep JONTY at FFS headquarters at all times... not allowing any of his statistical nous to escape our clutches!

I've grown to have no problems with FPL giving out so much info.

I'm personally disappointed that gems like

            - What the Managers Say
            - Scout Notes
            - Carling Cup updates

are not present on this site anymore. My problem is with the dwindling quality on FFS. Happy to see that you're looking to address it.

Mark, the scout notes are a big miss. FFS has given comprehensive news on all matters related to FPL for years and this is no longer the case. To give just one example, I have no idea what sort of lineups, goal scorers etc there were for the PL teams involved in the league cup and Europe this week. Of course, I could research it myself and not come on here...

The scout notes on Sunday morning being replaced with a watchlist article is a really bad change imo.

It's quite obvious that FFS is being neglected at the moment.

I'm going to bring scribbles back in the week to cover notes on domestic cups and europe. That was an oversight - really didn't think that, without a notes article, they'd slip through the net. They return after the break to report on any midweek matches.

As for notes on Sunday/Monday morning - they won't be coming back. For me last season we ended up repeating far too much material in This Much We Know, Lineup Lessons and Treatment Table.

We weren't sure whether to cover lineup news in them, or injuries because we knew we had those other articles to come. Basically, there was far too much crossover and we wasted a lot of effort.

But now we write Stock Check after each set of matches - giving a same day appraisal of players from that day.

Last season we had the Scoreboard and didn't write an article on Saturday or Sunday nights after matches so I'm not sure you can accuse me of neglecting FFS. Tell that to my partner when I'm working on Stock Check Saturday and Sunday night - I'm watching far more football and writing more articles at weekends than last season.

Good to hear that the notes will partially be brought back. I agree there was some repetition across various weekly articles but the articles you've gotten rid of haven't been replaced by anything so FFS is putting out less content. Are there any plans to introduce new articles? I don't think they have to be weekly pieces, but more one off articles would be welcomed.

Do you have any idea when the desktop site will be available on mobile? You made a point to mention it was being developed in the preseason article advertising membership. Perhaps I'm being cynical but I can't see any reason to have mentioned it in that particular article other than to encourage posters unhappy with the mobile 'optimised' site to pay up and the fact that, around two months later, the desktop option remains unavailable is a big gripe. I realise Google forced your hand on introducing the mobile site and there was some demand for it from your members but I, like many others, do not welcome it. Hopefully this is resolved soon.

Maybe the last sentence of my previous post was harsh but between these two issues it really does feel like working on FFS isn't the priority anymore. That's not a personal criticism, you're doing this for a living and, if the relationship with FPL pays better, many of us would no doubt do the same in your position. That doesn't change the fact that, as a long term user and paying member of your site, my feedback is that FFS currently isn't as good as it used to be.

Fair enough. I can't pretend to say I'd have done differently in your position. I'm sure you can appreciate my own, an others, frustration though. I've been part of this community for 5+ years now and remember stumbling across it by accident and loving that I had this secret little tool that nobody knew about.

Inevitably as popularity grows, the site was always going to become more well known. You were building something and the additions like the members area, etc, were fantastic. You still had to go to the site and find this info or dig it out for yourself/pay for membership.

It just feels like this season the focus has gone from the site and officialfpl is driving things with the info they're providing. Some articles have disappeared too like the scoutnotes and scoreboard. I see FPL as a game, and one that requires skill and research. FPL drip feeding useful info to the masses is taking that all away.

I don't know how much influence you have over that side of things, if any, but I certainly would put forward that they should be a bit more selective what they share as it's just too much at the moment. I'm not sure they'll particularly care mind.

Anyways I know you've put blood, sweat and tears into this site and built it up to the point where you now get paid as an expert on FPL. I mean what a dream job. I just hope in turn that doesn't bring the FFS house of cards tumbling down.

Best of luck either way though bud.

I don't think anyone on here seriously holds it against you or the team at all and everyone is pleased for you - the slight problem is that if a FF manager now wants to get the most information and tips on fantasy football they can, then this site is not the best place to do so as the content is just not as far reaching as previously. There are a lot more articles and analysis on the FPL site itself - so I think that's why people here are feeling a bit left behind.

Great reply, Mark and congratulations again.

The Scout and the Scout Surgery has been available in FPL for 2 years and was vastly ignored by most of the FFS community and the FPL players. They are now using Social Media as a means to engage with the user which is the right thing to do.

I am also really interested in seeing how FFS is going to pivot. My concern is that a lot of the good posters and statistical analysis will disappear and this forum will essentially turn into a mass RMT thread. We have already observed a recent decline which is worring. Maybe its just that the upturn in users means that the quantity of detailed posts are diluted. I dont know but ive not seen great posts like updates from Portsmouth Bubblejet or detailed analysis visualised in Tableau from The3rdturd in a long time.

As always, happy to help where possible.

I think the same - perhaps a members only chat room / area with restricted articles would be a good way round this? A lot of the comments and advice on here does seem to have slipped this season

            Well done Mark.

I've wrote before that one day (soon) fantasy football will be as wedded to real life football as gambling is to horse racing...it will become one and the same thing for the public.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply Mark.

I get the point that the Premier League are trying to employ a social media team to try and get more people involved in the game, but my question is that why are you providing them information which is based solely on the community's research (*cough cough* the Dembele theory)? Surely that encourages people on here to keep information based on their own research solely to themselves rather than post it on here and expect it to be made public to 3.7 million people with 1 tweet?

This is the exact problem people have.

Unless the information Mark provides to FPL is selective, people will stop posting (they already have) their findings on here.

And yes I know this is a public site and anyone can access that information, most people who casually play FPL don't have the time/are not bothered with putting time into research but now they can check their tweeter and get all of the info on who is on form, who should score and why, etc.... in one neat little package.

I can understand this point of view but surely it's just not something that can be helped. Once an idea appears on here it is in the public domain and anyone can use it. Even if there was a member's only forum, someone working for FPL would be able to join up and copy stuff. Plus why put your ideas on here if you don't want people to see them? Why even have a community discussing the merits of the game if we're all competing against each other?

Honestly, I hadn't even noticed any of this bonus content on the fpl site and I reckon very few of the "casual" players will pay much attention to it. I will now just view it as bonus content to compliment what I get on here, the fpl site certainly doesn't provide the community feeling or the ability to fully research stats independently like what we get here. Congrats on your new role as an official fpl pundit Mark!

have a look at the FPL twitter.

People on here do hours of researching, looking at stats, watching games and then they post about here.

The next day FPL just send a tweet using that information to the masses telling them what player to buy and why.

@officialFPL started 3 weeks ago and already has more followers (55k) than FFScout which started 6 years ago (51k). Make no mistake this @OfficialFPL stuff is a juggernaut cannibalising FFScout. Fair play to Mark now earning a living off FPL, but that changes the dynamic here. This place has dropped its pretense of fostering a community and exploits it for insight (the authors of 20 or so community articles a month get one £20 Amazon voucher between them). Then there's little incentive to hang around as the twitter account @officialFPL acts as an executive summary for 4 articles and 8000 comments a day. The Team News tab and the members stats zone are still useful but otherwise it feels like a waste of time hanging around in the comments.

Congratulations again on the success, I'm pleased to see you doing so well. 🙂

However, I wish we were told prior to buying membership that the major stats would be given in the new show and scoutcast. We paid for the stats, only for them then to given away for free. Whilst I appreciate the member's area gives far more than that, the most important stats and insights are now free, so it does devalue the membership. We really should have been told beforehand, as some may have reconsidered paying.

Anyway, great work on the show and FFS in general (And Total War, great games).

I agree. For me, being a semi-casual, one of the best features was The Big Numbers and now it appears to be made public in some form on FPL twitter.

Well said GB, I love what Mark has created here but as one of the very early disciples I am saddened to see where it is going now.

As part of this "community" we share research and comments for the good of others in the community but if everyone that plays the game is getting this info then I don't think I or others will be posting this info in future. If this happens then there will be no point coming on here and I think you'll see massive migration to other sites instead.

DINO there's something I've been considering for a while. I know there are a bunch of us kind of lingering on the sidelines because it's hard to get things answered properly.

What if a group of us start our discussions on the latest scout article? There is rarely more than one page there, and if the interested people found a good spot to post where others wouldn't notice (maybe an old article? they stay around for ever, maybe?) it would be a way for more private conversation which could develop.

                Thoughts?

It could work pukka but even then there are probably three articles a day coming out now (which is fantastic) so I doubt it would take on.

I thought they might have been on to something with the members rating etc and there was a follow function in a previous beta test which would haveadequate it easier to jump on and see what the posters you respected were posting but I guess they thought this might have made things a little clique. If they had this function I think you would have to leave it like a Facebook friends request as you don't want your rivals being able to follow every post.

            Hi Mark,

I have no objection whatsoever to you giving data or any input/insight on the Fantasy Premier League page/feed, if we want fantasy premier league to blow up to the levels it is with the NFL in America, this sort of collaboration and mainstream broadcasting is essential.
If I had not paid for membership, I would not be writing this post.
            Unfortunately, I am a member.

While offering a product to a customer, you advertise certain benefits and features. When its a subscription and a renewal is offered, it is reasonable to assume that those same features would still be existent in the product. This is where my gripe is.

The ICT index being gone from the members table annoys me, its the first thing I looked forward to viewing after a GW. Its gone, without any prior intimation from your end. This is a deal breaker for me. I feel ripped off tbh. I don't mind it being viewable on the FPL page also, but why is it not here when I paid for it??
In addition, its clear that the number of members article is also far less due to the attention you're giving the FPL game.

I've been a member of this site since 2008 and credit a lot of my fpl success towards it, but I feel the communication on your end towards these changes has been left wanting.

Wishing you and the team all the success

I think certain posters need to catch themselves on.

1/ People are unhappy with information being made more easily available. Surely a good thing. Keeps people interested longer and makes mini-leagues more competitive. People are unhappy that they have lost the advantage of knowing about this site - but that never made you a FF expert. A lot of people are kidding themselves that they do hours of statistical analysis, really a small number do and the rest follow.

2/ People complaining about the 'quality' of the posts (poncy and condescending). Some long term members are cliquey, if you don't have an avatar your can't possibly have anything worthwhile to say, you must be a 'casual', yet a long term member posts something similar and it sparks a debate.

3/ Too many rate my teams. Always been the case in the early season. I don't see why it is a problem and enjoy reading them myself.

4/ It says in the faq that if you are not happy then drop an email and they will sort you out a refund.

5/ People complaining about the lack of scout notes. So the people complaining about information being spoon fed want to be spoon fed (but don't share it with the great unwashed!).

Well played Mark, doing a show about fantasy football with AC Jimbo and a pretty lady - living the dream!

Big gripe is the ICT index being removed from the members area with no warning or explanation that it's gone. I don't really care that it's on the main site now but why can't it still be in the members area too? This has been brought up on countless posts but it's been radio silence from FFS. I guess they got their membership fee for the year so it doesn't really matter.

Great post. I made my encouragement for you known here last week:

            http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2016/08/19/the-community-round-up-157/?hc_page=3#hc_comment_13851413

If you are serious about looking for FFS to pivot, I would encourage you to check out both fangraphs (MLB) and football outsiders (NFL) -- their evolutions over the last decade or so are interesting examples of how diehard communities transformed themselves. This site already looks much better than theirs, so design wise you have a leg up.

In essence, they have become almost like citizen scientists whose insights are taken seriously as essential reading by the teams themselves - the diehards revel in their engagement in the debates on the site not only because of the topics, but because they know that the site's writers will then use the best conclusions going forward and they have some sense of themselves as serious aficionados of the game itself.

Your articles might need to become more interactive, where a writer then revisits the discussion a few pages or hours later to keep it going and to highlight what the community has discussed. You could keep it housed here since it doesn't really work as a short bite to be driven to the masses through FPL.

The bigger challenge for you is how much non-FPL community spirit you can maintain. Movie recommendations, birth announcements, and especially some of the random social discussions in the Deadzone bring posters together and might also make them trust in each other's football opinions. I am not on social media and pretty much only spend significant time on sports sites, so no idea how you do that. But you need to keep the ragtag bunch of diehards here if you want to continue to present FFS as anything close to an expert site with elevated discussion about the matches themselves -- they need to want to share with each other for anyone in the public domain to read. You might want to trawl through some pages of the Deadzone in years past (haven't been on much the last few weeks) to see what the day zone could look like -- great indepth discussions as well as a sharp sense of humor and community. Definitely a great rogues' pub instead of a noisy dance club.

The only reason the deadzone looks like that is less posts per hour means it is easier to actually discuss things. I don't post on here too much anymore as it is almost impossible to have an in depth conversation about anything as the page has turned within minutes. I remember the old days with less posters and one long scrolling page, we used to have discussions that could go on for hours on one point.

I'm not sure how this type of interaction can be facilitated with the numbers the site has now but it really doesn't make sense to bother typing out a nice in depth post or replt for the forum any longer as with so few seeing them they don't generate any responses.
I thought the hot topics tab might fix this but unfortunately all we get is jonty drivel 24/7 (it's like his private public twitter feed). Maybe with proper moderation and more highlighting of community posts more would be encouraged to post decent stuff.

            Congratulations Mark! 😀

I really don't feel that you being a part of the PL panel and supplying information to the masses is like backstabbing the FFS community like it's made out to be.

Like many have pointed out, it's absolutely the right decision from a business point of view.

We, the FFS community who had all these secret info before this season now need to man up and face the new challenge. Don't really get why such an outcry.

We have to raise the bar as the competition will be fierce now than it has been ever before.

I for one am ready for it and loving it.

The better the competition, the more sweeter is the victory.

People are selfish and want everything to themselves. Personally I am enjoying the twitter updates and the q&a sessions, had a couple of questions answered myself and really enjoy the videos online.

Whilst this is fantastic community it is a small minority of the overall players. Fantasy football is growing, there is a huge market out there of casual players who are chomping at the bit for something different. Some just don't have the time or want the effort of reading through big articles so the twitter and the videos are great for them as well as the more die hard players. I am actually enjoying it very much, I have made many new friends via the twitter updates

It makes perfect sense for you to work more closely with the official site, as you said if it wasn't you then it would be somebody else. Fantasy football is becoming bigger by the day, it would honestly be silly of you to not accept the new role.

            Good luck and enjoy

I think this hot topic is monumental post in terms of the FFS community going forward. I am a massive fan of this community and so happy for marks success and agree FFS should partner with FPL. I am dissapointed there are articles on fpl scout section that are not here. I see no reason why that information is not also posted here even if that means extensive links and advertisement to the fpl scout section. I have no problem casual getting more information will only improve the competition although I am concerned of increased template team which I feel probably is the worst point of the game lucky mainly kicks in after January

The history of top fantasy websites is that they get acquired: cf. RotoWorld (acquired by NBC); STATS (acquired by News Corp) in the US on the back of the growth in fantasy baseball & (American) football. I would not be surprised to see FFS acquired by a major sports channel (ESPN?) or even the Premier League itself (not crazy, as FFS promotes the FPL game). These links with PL and others will be key to capturing the value created by Mark et al.

I really think youre going into way too much depth for that audience. Telegraph FF have a similar feed and they just tweet things like "is Benteke on your shopping list?" and "whats your prediction for X game?" This would fulfil your contract without alienating this Community. No need to post stats that others are paying for or "Capoue may play deeper due to a new signing"

            Like everyone else, I feel.

I like the community and it is nice to have a place where we can talk. It feels against the spirit somehow if the best bits are broadcast to people not involved in the process; but isn't that what the hot topics are, or were? The point of the hot topics I think was to summarize important posts and information for those that didn't have the time to get involved. The hot topics rarely foster the genuine conversation I think they are intended to. I take the new availability as an extension of what hot topics are intended to do, which is only unfortunate if there is no longer an advantage to being on FFS.

The idea of a members only chat seems good, and I would love it, but the negative effect on the non-member chat might be huge. Non-member chat might turn (even more) into RMTs. Still, a members only chat would be helpful if the FFS readership grows, which it may, and very quickly if integration with FPL continues. The more exclusive chat would then be nice, and a decent revenue stream for site-related improvements.

Honestly, I use the site for the discussion mostly, but haven't found it as useful in the past, largely because I've found it harder to find the same posters, which makes me trust advice less. Nevertheless I will always check in, as this is a place to talk about fantasy football.

Mark, I know you and the team will figure it out, keep going!

Thought I'd add my two cents:

Like many of the other peeps have already mentioned, I feel like the sites quality has dimished this season, very little community articles and informative hot-topics have seemed to crop up so far (the ones that have, have been good of course). When I saw the ICT index on FPL, I didn't feel like paying this years membership was worth it. Like GB has said, people might have been more hesistant to pay if they knew what was happening. Like the others have said, alot of the regular articles seem to have dissapeared too,

Having said that, massive congratulations on full-time FPL work, that really is the dream. Very happy for you Mark, just don't forget us here at FFS

Have to say well done to Mark on such a success in FFS, it has come a long way, as has FPL. I have definitely noticed a change in content this season but at the same time this is still a community, so if people think certain things are missing then why not offer yourself to fill the gap you see instead of complaining.
Make suggestions, do research and post your findings, offer advice, submit articles etc. The quality of sites like this are the result of the community that is associated with it.
FFS is still miles ahead of anything else we just need to keep pushing it forward

Why would we do so much work only for it to be broadcasted to everyone who plays fpl? Before it was just this community that benefitted from our work and by giving, others were good enough and grateful enough to share there work so we could all benefit in our quest to beat the masses.

I'm late to this party, but what I can't quite accept is that we have had our posts deleted, repeatedly, for posting stats that could have been (but weren't) from the member area, but now you are giving these same stats out for free and the paying members should just accept it. The stats analysis used to be for members only, for a reason: it was the reason we paid for the membership.

I don't mind at all that you get more followers, join forces with FPLofficial or whatever, etc. My point is not that this should stay "our secret". My point is that I pay you money to get that data put in a neat useful statistical form, and so I expect that you only give it against a payment, but this season I've been finding the Member Area changed to significantly worse from before (no ICT index and a dysfunctional Ticker), while you offer the most important findings neatly summarised and free for everybody. In both way, the membership has lost its value: we get a worse product, and main parts of it are available for free.

Exactly. Although if one gets dropped and their price ends up at 3.8 I might move in for one.

If you are a so called "casual", which is a daft term anyway, are you really checking FPL Twitter.

The four pals I have playing the game who don't use this site have picked the likes of Grujic, Phil Jones and Fabregas and their teams are very much different from the template ones you see on here.

Only 54k followers to that Twitter account would appear to back this up. Most of them probably use this site as well!

            I agree with this.

The scout tweets let us know who is injured, is there REALLY that much of a difference between that and the FPL tweets? I kind of like it actually. I linger on here all the time but that's a nice way to get the basics. Then you come on here for more discussion.

Don't really know why FFS doesn't tweet like that to be honest...

Is it crazy to transfer Townsend in for Lamela only for this GW ?

Got 2 FT but not sure what/if I should do anything as team seems OK (somewhat a miracle at this point of the season based on previous years)! Nothing in the bank.

        Heaton, Foster
        Stones, Valencia, Amat, Friend, Pieters
        Hazard, Mahrez, Townsend, Redmond, Capoue
        Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Gray

Gray to Negredo (or Benteke) is in my thoughts (particularly if we think he could be banned for the twitter remarks or that it impacts on his play) but that would require me to downgrade elsewhere. Currently likely candidates are Mahrez (to Barkley?) or Townsend (to Fer?).

        Any thoughts?

        I don't have Ibra and I'm scared.

Martial + Vardy > Barkley and Ibra for 4 points worth it?

I'm thinking of waiting. But it's scary.

No. Definately not at this point for a -4 you have already missed the rises. Former two could easily outscore the second two this weekend, do it for a free over the break.
