FFS Cup

The FFS Cup – Sponsored by FanDuel – Fourth Round Draw

This evening we reveal who has made it through to the fourth round of our open to all Fantasy Premier League cup competition.

For this latest contest there are more than £1,000 worth of prizes for UK based entrants courtesy of our partner FanDuel, as well as £350 in Amazon vouchers to the top three managers at the end of the competition.

In addition, the highest scoring manager each round will win a £30 FanDuel credit, with the four next highest scores earning a £10 credit.

The third round saw all three of our remaining champions depart, which means there will be a new name on the trophy at the end of the competition.

Last year’s winner I Casillas Winning was beaten by Allezlechef 71 to 55, Gribude lost to Cok3y5murf and MCH failed to get the better of community regular Rhinos.

The highest scoring managers of the round and recipients of a £30 FanDuel credit are Bacuna Matata and Pinky Unites, who both brought in a haul of 104 points.

Those who win a £10 FanDuel credit for stellar Gameweek scores are: NUFC Fifer and Raul Seleccion, who accrued 102 points; Δημητρης Καραμπουρνιωτης, who earned 98 points; and TeaM McNaCe and BC1, who both notched 97 in Gameweek 14.

Of these Gameweek 14 titans, Bacuna Matata is the highest ranked manager left in the competition. His impressive tally takes him up to 111 in the rankings and a round four clash with fplbet.

Raul Selecion is just behind, in 112th place, and takes on Fat B*d in the next stage of the tournament.

The community regular who has drawn the short straw to face another form manager, Pinky Unites, in round four is Tommy J.

The Scoutcast’s last representative, Andy85wsm, bows out with his score of 73 proving no match for Anuliz’s 94 points.

Two other members of the Fantasy Football Scout moderator and contributor team, GreenWindmill and Stilicho, also leave, after being beaten by Archie and lowlifegimpe respectively.

That leaves TorresMagic to fly the FFScout flag alone. He beat Isaaclun in round three and next takes on Zambhino10, who is ranked more than 100,000 places behind him, in this weekend’s tie.

Another encounter to keep an eye on is a dangerous looking Chelsea themed derby between Hazardous Blue and Hazardous to repeat.

The third round results can be found via this link, while the full fourth round draw can be found here.

Good luck to those still involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

Had a good GW14 having captained Sanchez while all the others above me in my ML didn't have him at all. But I've noticed that most of them have now taken -4 or -8 hits (probably getting Sanchez in), so wondering if I should do the same to keep pace. My current team:

    Grant Pickford
    Walker McAuley Holebas Pieters Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Sigurdsson Capoue
    Kane Austin Anichbe

    0FT £5.8m in the bank

Had been planning to go without Kane and use this week's FT to get Alonso, but used it to ship Aguero for Kane on Saturday night. With the extra budget, I'm now tempted to get Costa instead or as well. What do you think would be best?

    A) Pieters -> Alonso for a -4
    B) Austin -> Costa for a -4
    C) A+B for a -8
    D) Different transfer(s)
    E) No transfers!

If both Alonso and Costa rise tonight, and Pieters and Austin don't rise, I'll be priced out of option C. I'm fairly happy to lose Pieters but not sure on letting go of Austin, as Southampton have great fixtures but on the other hand he may be a rotation risk...

If you want the Chelsea trio then C seems the only way. Hopefully you are leading the ML.

Cheers. Still a good 35 points off the top of the ML. At the moment I'm thinking of doing B for now, as Costa is quite likely to rise tonight, and then get Alonso in later, or another week.

Sound plan as Alonso pretty much needs an attacking return with CS to pay the hit off.

Not sure about this advice, TM. Last week away to Man City, he returned an assist and 1 bap which paid for the transfer hit over starting Lovren, say. This week he has West Brom at home.

WBA haven't had an issue scoring. KDB missed a sitter which would have changed lots.

He's looking the best defender to own in the game, and one that is worth a transfer hit to beat a price rise.

He was 5.9m not so long ago. Each passing week has paid back those that took or didn't take a hit to bring him in.

on the other hand, is Costa likely to pay off a hit against West Brom, with Austin playing Middlesbrough next? I can't decide!

Starting to lose patience with Austin. His competition are all outscoring him even if a bit more expensive.

It probably won't happen but if any manager can get his 3/4 centre backs to marshal Costa all game, it's Tony Pulis.

I fancy goals from midfield if Chelsea are to win vs WBA.

I would be tempted to lose Siggy for Phillips then do Anichebe to Costa.

Siggy is a good option but you need Costa for the season and I wouldnt sell Austin

I'd argue you don't need Costa unless you plan to captain him over Hazard.

We have very similar teams, but I've take a few hits to get Alonso in earlier. He's definitely worth it.

I'd use the funds to upgrade Capoue and have Anichebe as your bench fodder (good week to play him this week though). Firmino, Mane, Walcott all good options.

I've considered this route. I'm almost certain to play Anichebe this week, but over the next few weeks in the back of my head I feel having two strong forwards will make it easier to get Aguero back eventually rather than having the budget tied up in midfield. At the same time I know that getting Aguero back will probably involve two transfers anyway so it shouldn't make a difference. I'm talking myself around in circles!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I also have Kane, Austin and Anichebe having down Aguero > Kane this week (was sooo close to taking a hit last week to do this). My thinking is that I'm not going to captain Costa over Hazard, Sanchez or Kane and I like Austin's value and fixtures so I'm passing on Costa for now.

Hopefully he'll pick up that bloody YC this weekend!

    How do price falls work?
Aguero so far transfered out by 500k but only a 0.1 drop.
Coutniho transferred out by 100k and dropping tonight 0.1
Surely aguero should have dropped again by now?

Aguero is at original price, Coutinho is well above original so only needs the transfers for a price rise as transfers out to fall. Aguero needs about 30% of owners to sell for a 0.1(roughly 10% for a drop and 3 times due to red flag).

Coutinho also had an orange flag for the first couple of days before being given the red flag. This would have made it easier for Coutinho to drop faster.

    Heaton
    Alonso - Rose - Clyne
    Sanchez (C) - Firmino - Walcott - Can
    Costa - Kane - Austin

    Pickford - Gundogan - Kone - Amat

Feel mostly good to go. Better off starting Heaton or Pickford?

    Cheers.

      QUICK POLL:

      1. DeBruyne, Gundogan (Gundogan to be transferred out next week); or

      2. Firmino, Siggurdson

      >>>2 seems safer and better overall; DeBruyne has been explosive when Aguero is out...

I actually like 1, with Gundo to Moses. I'm simply not sold on Siggy producing anything - even against marginal competition. Aside from the ridiculous (fluky?) match against Palace, their/his attacking stats are fairly dire.

      Which to start this week:

      A) Amat (SUN)
      B) McAuley (che)

I know Swansea have been leaky but I sort of feel like Bob Bradley is building towards something good - their performance against Everton showed a glimpse of it.

It's been on Brunt since the weekend, plus it's no fun playing Amat.
A bit of a conflict of interests holding Alonso, Costa and Hazard as well.

Hiya lads, took a hit and did Kos > Alonso, sick of getting nothing froM Arsenal defence, so here's the team now:

      Robinson
      Cedric - Alonso - Lovren
      Siggy - Hazard - Sanchez - KDB
      Anichebe - Kane - Costa
      __________________________
      Heaton: Amat, Morrison, Evans

it's exactly 105m at the moment. Having fun with it again this season with hits and stuff, i know i'll never win it, and around the 700k mark, but just hoping by building team value that will count further down the line in the second half of the season 🙂

I can't even imagine how many hits you've taken to afford that 🙂

I've got a TV of only 103.2 (low around these parts), but am sitting at 36K - which isn't great, but is decent - so I guess there are trade-offs.

Good luck! The team you can afford is impressive.

haha well i was doing well with not taking hits up until around GW 8, but i like to take risks, a lot of them, it's jsut way more fun, and most the time they do work out, building tv will be important this season as well, already is.
Certainly trade-offs haha, but that's a great rank you have there, and thanks buddy 🙂

You've taken too many hits to afford that team. Given your captain choices, it may be better to downgrade one big hitter to have say, Son and Walcott rather than play Anichebe every week.

          • 12 Years

maybe, but the game is just too annoying and stressful to not have fun with it, Son won't be a consistent points scorer every week, neither will Walcott, i'd rather have Anichebe as a gateway to play solid 90 minute players in midfield, i get what you saying though.

I agree that everyone gets different kicks from the game, and one way of playing is to bring in the bandwagons each week so you can build up almost a FIFA FUT team but where do you go from now? Are you going to be disciplined enough to let them return you points or continue to make transfers so that you can turn Anichebe into an Austin or Iheanacho?

that's a very good point when you say where do i go from here haha, as of now, i have to say i am settled, and will be patient enough now to know that these players, if left alone, will pay it back.
If i'm disciplined enough to do this, would you say in your opinion that this team will move up in rank?
just seems whatever i do this season it back fires (ie: captaining Coutinho, Hazard, Aguero in the past for their blanks)

Yeah, the captain choice is massive as always. That team will easily outscore those above you but remember other managers have banked the points of the player(s) you're bringing in, so you have to spot the next bandwagon early to really climb the ranks.

I'm back to 20k and have little expectation to make the top 1k. Teams are now settled and we need 2 or 3 differentials to pay off before the teams ahead of us then get them in.

Am looking forward to Coutinho coming back, and possibly jumping on Alli or Eriksen next week.

good points and advice, i agree the captain choice is so damn important, need to start getting them right.
Spotting bandwagons are definitely important, Cout is a certain case of that when he returns. Eriksen is another one.Well, from here on now i am settled with leaving this as it is now for a good while, i do need to chill with hits for sure, i just wanna win my mini league lol, and i'm around 60 points behind the leader who has been nothing more than lucky to say the least 🙂
i'll have faith in your words, thanks TS.

Getting Alonso in tonight, but who should I sell?

Have Pieters, Holebas, McAuley, Amat and Friend.

Currently thinking Friend, mainly because he is injured (and have 2 tough fixtures even if he would be fit) and because he is the only one I don't have money tied up in. Could get him in for the Swansea game anyways, or in a bit of time. Also considering getting in Valdes.

Should I swap for Friend or someone else? Amat naturally the worst one but at 4.0 for me he still offers the possibility to have more funds elsewhere

Think of it this way, all those taking -4 and -8 to get Sanchez for example, it's like he scored an extra goal or a couple of assists. Instead, sit back and plan your next move with the upcoming fixtures.

Most overlooked attacking player for the upcoming holiday run? For me it's Mahrez and maybe Vardy. Talk of them getting benched my spur in the whole team and fixtures aren't bad.

So I have changed my tactics from waiting until late in the week (Thursday / Friday) to make transfers, to as soon as possible, usually Saturday / Sunday night. This has seen my TV go up £2.3m in about 4 gameweeks with no hits.

Yep, I don't really get waiting unless it's an international break. If there's an injury then worst case, play an extra defender. You need to move quickly in the transfer market this season.

Has your rank improved? That's not rhetorical. I'm genuinely curious, because I've mostly been taking the opposite tack of waiting to make transfers this season to avoid dealing with injuries that you only hear about in the pressers.

Me too. At some point it will burn us but the upside this season in doing so is far bigger than the downside. I've also said it before, but the ubiquity of the real time pride rise awareness among even casual players has seriously changed something this season. No going back to the good old days so adaption is a must.

Brings millions in extra TV, and if the early move backfires it's oy 4 points to correct. In two previous seasons of this strategy I haven't lost a single early mover to injury. Bit slack this year though :S

Right DZ, so I'm currently terrified about not owning Sánchez. I already did Walcott & Agüero ➡️ Hazard & Kane. Should I go De Bruyne & Eriksen ➡️ Sánchez & Sigurdsson/Lallana for -12?! Or can Sánchez wait until GW18? I've only taken three -4 hits so far this season so this madness would see me double that in one fell swoop.

      Heaton/Robinson
      Stones/A.Smith/Evans/Pieters/ Amat
      De Bruyne/Hazard/Firmino/Eriksen/ de Roon
      Kane/Costa/Austin

(P.S - yes, yes, Stones has to go, I know!)

There is an invisible line for anything beyond -8 being worth it to me in a single game week. Yeah sure some people have anecdotal stories of it working out spectacularly, but what you never hear are the vastly frustrated fails. BUT I also acknowledge that this year hits are less punitive and maybe that has moved the acceptability line beyond what I am currently comfortable doing.

          I'll admit I've taken a -12 this week.
          Aguero, Walcott, McAuley, Holebas
          >
          Costa, Sanchez, Alonso, Cedric

Money only allowed me to get Cedric on the Sunday before he rose. I'm going to see Southampton play next week so also wanted some players to support.

These are good points and that's why I'm considering it. I've been playing a fairly cautious game hits-wise but it seems like plenty of others in my ML are throwing caution to the wind and taking hits on an almost weekly basis.

I've dropped from around the 20k mark to 80k in the last four GWs. Four successive red arrows. I feel like I need to do something to halt the slide but maybe it is a bit short term and knee-jerky.

Perhaps. But they had no trouble generating offense last week without Coutinho. And now they are at home to an even worse side.

If Firmino had brought in the points last week then yep, I'd agree, but having not watched the game, I don't know if Liverpool are attacking slightly differently without Coutinho. Lallana starting vs West Ham would definitely help.

I just don't think it's worth the risk when Chelsea have West Brom and Arsenal have Stoke.

Do you expect Kane to play tonight?
Imagine an injury if he did...

It doesn't make sense to as I don't think they want Europa league. Maybe Son up top?

Would jump on Ibra and buy Son next week. Be strangely satisfying.

Cue in the rack from Pochettino. No need to risk players in a dead rubber - especially with United away at the weekend.
I'm expecting the likes of N'koudou, Sissoko, Winks etc to start against CSKA

A slight knock that keeps him out just for one week, wouldn't be too bad at all... I could play Anichebe vs Swansea!

Considering my 40 points and drop in or from 18k to 77k my team is looking ok, I think, fielding a full team at home:

        Heaton(Pickford)
Alonso / Cedric / Amat (Nyom, Evans)
        Hazard(C) / Firmino / SIggy / Walcott (deRoon)
        Ibra / Costa / Austin
        2.4m itb

        Proposed tranfers for next week:
        Nyom + Firm(Wally) to Toby A. + Eriksen
        Thoughts?

New rule of DZ for me: let no reasonable post go uncommented if possible.

Well, you certainly have an inkling for TOT minus Kane. Personally I would wait on Tobby because of such a long injury layoff but I can see the logic of why you want him in straight away playing Amat. For a long time I sort of viewed Eriken as fool's gold but he looks like he is finding form. All things considered, yeah I think it's a clear upgrade move if you are concerned about Firmino. I wouldn't do it for Siggy.

Really though, what I think you need is this game week to assess, which it sounds is your plan anyway.

Appreciate it mate. Just posting some random thoughts on my team to ponder....
Those home games against Hull & Burnley (next 2) look so appealing on paper and with no Kane I think it's the right move.
No, Siggy stays, between Firmino and Wally (most likely Firm but will reassess as you say after this GW). GL to you!

Nice team, similar in a way to mine without Sanchez. I have Alonso and am also thinking about getting Toby in for a double premium defense from next week.

Will very much depend on how he looks this week I guess.

Thanks,(no Sanchez or Kane really killed my rank last week) yep if he's back to full fitness he should start the vast majority of games and he's a bit of a beast in the box from set pieces. Playing him and Alonso everyweek could be gold! Always an option to swap out for Bellerin when he returns and Ars fix turn tasty.

Correct, and a good SV enables you to get a better squad and increases your point scoring potential

You're already 150 points behind the leader, due to transfer point hits.

How can you be sure that's due to transfer points hits? I actually think my hits have improved my current points tally.

I like a well considered transfer hit. I've taken a -4 in each of the last 3 weeks and each one turned out for the better, but I'm not going to say every transfer hit has paid off.

To have a TV so high you have caught some bandwagons early and had a transfer policy of bringing in those that have performed well the previous week. No shame in that, it's just not going to get you in the top 100.

But there willl always be a Capoue, Allen, Gundogan, Zaha, Moses, Austin, etc. around every corner. Just like there were Vardy and Mahrez last year. Way too much attention is given to TV around here, IMO.

He looks so good and solid once in your team. Got him for a hit last week that worked out. Personally, after months of 0's and 1's and no confidence at all with any defenders, it's a lovely feeling just seeing him in there.

Pieters, Holebas, and Siggy OR Cedric, Erikson, and 4.7 DEF (thinking of Francis)

            Team like this:
            Heaton / Pickford

            Walker / Alonso / McAuley / Holebas(Cedric) / Pieters(4.7)

            Siggy(Erikson) / Sanchez / Hazard / Walcott / Can

            Costa / Anichebe / Austin

            Cheers!

What about just Cedric this week? Or hold off any more moves if you have used your FT. If I was shifting anyone in that midfield, Walcott would come under consideration before Siggy.
