The Community Round Up

The latest double and blank Gameweek announcements dominated the community’s thoughts this week.

Our Hot Topic posters and community writers take in the ramifications of the altered fixture schedule, including the best players to target and how Fantasy Premier League’s chips can be most usefully deployed.

Elsewhere, the statisticians in our Members area have also been busily preparing for the season run in with a look at the most attacking assets to consider.

Finally, we conclude our round-up with a look at who emerged from Gameweek 31’s reduced set of fixtures in a strong position at the top of the community leagues.

The Community Articles

Our Rate My Wildcard Team Surgery opened up this week to help those who have deployed this chip ahead of Gameweek 32. I start off the discussion with the challenges facing my overhauled team, which is based around using the Bench Boost chip in double Gameweek 34, the Free Hit chip the week after and saving the Triple Captain chip for Gameweek 37’s likely extended set of fixtures.

FPL Virgin dropped by to put forward an alternative chip strategy, which could be particularly appealing to those without a Triple Captain chip in hand.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

The season run in became much clearer this week with the confirmation that eight teams will play twice in Gameweek 34 with the following Gameweek reduced due to FA Cup semi-finals.

Andy85wsm kick-started the double Gameweek strategy discussion, which was swiftly followed by Flynny’s post on why Gameweek 34 looks potentially the best time to use a Bench Boost chip.

Those currently tinkering with their team after firing up the second Wildcard were canvassed on their plans by Punty McPuntface, while Bouncebackability put forward a specific plan for those with no Triple Captain chip.

We asked the community for their views on who the best strikers, midfielders and defenders will be for the remaining seven Gameweeks. Viper stripes supplemented this with a specific discussion on the best budget forwards.

Liars Poker is among those looking for new blood in his frontline, amid concerns that Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is not explosive enough to justify his 9.7 price tag. However, Viper believes ditching the Brazilian, who has scored 14 goals in the league this season, is too risky.

Meanwhile, Pooodle believes that Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is cup tied for Arsenal’s Europa campaign, looks a perfect candidate for a forward role. Doosra’s latest number crunching, as delivered by G-Whizz, certainly indicates he could be a shrewd purchase for Gameweek 32.

Another to look at season run in players is Enzo the Baker, who is wondering if now is the time to swerve underperforming premium defenders. Our Hot Topic on the best cheap enablers includes a raft of budget gems in defence to consider.

Meanwhile, Brosstan is not happy with the inevitable deployment of chips around double Gameweeks and thinks it makes FPL too predictable and boring.

We added to this debate on chips by canvassing views on their deployment so far, to assess who have been the winners and losers.  When to use the second Wildcard is a key decision to make for those still holding on to this chip, with Zico Senna advocating firing it up now ahead of Gameweek 32 rather than waiting.

One way to spice up the final Gameweeks of the season would be to take the bold step of removing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who scored 29 points last weekend and is heading towards a final points tally that may well be the biggest that FPL has ever seen. Pras United is the brave community poster to put forward this potentially season wrecking notion.

Those who entrusted the Egyptian winger with the Triple Captain chip in Gameweek 31, as detailed in our ”rough with the smooth” round up of your latest scores, are especially unlikely to hand Salah his P45.

But could key players, such as Salah, be rested as the campaign draws to a close and league positions are largely decided? Athletico Bilbo details those who may already ‘be on the beach’ as the season edges nearer to its conclusion.

Finally, this week saw Ragabolly join the FFScout editorial team to present the first in a regular series of articles using his metrics and data tools to assess how the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers perform each week. He takes up the role after impressing with his recent community articles that looked at how high-placed managers were geared up for Gameweek 31’s limited set of fixtures.

The Members Tables

Prolific wing backs are the focus of Stoke Me A Clipper’s latest table, while vkux has been delving into the underlying statistics of forwards and midfielders priced under 9.0.

The Community Tournaments

Anders Lium retains top spot in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season league with Stuart Blakeley in Hot pursuit, just two points behind in second.

There’s also no change at the summit of the FFScout Members League, where Paul Gee has a commanding 31 lead over second placed Heroes and Villains.

However, Paul has to settle for second in the FFScout league, which continues to be lead by Rizwan Chaudhry, who moves from sixth to third in the overall rankings.

Jack Wain once again tops the FFScout moderators and contributors league, while I lead the chasing pack, with Az now moving up to third after a score of 110 points in Gameweek 31.

Elsewhere, I slip down to second in QPR Utd’s Frequent Summer Posters competition, with Zoumas Bloomers reclaiming bragging rights at the top.

A score of 100 was enough for Dan Jeffries to retain first place among the community’s oldest and wisest members at the summit of the FFS Old Farts Club.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email us summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Views on this WC team please? No FH and BB week 34. TC Kane in 37 is plan. Auba will be transferred to Lukaku in 34 then may need to reverse in 35 and take abcouple of hits on top of that to get at least 9/10 out for 35

    De Gea Ryan
    Lowton Morgan Mustafi Robertson Alonso
    Salah Son Mahrez Willian Gudmundsson
    Firmino Wood Aubameyang

I fear Moreno will get games around CL and Wood looks a bit punty re minutes. Many are going cheap bur def's so if you can afford him, Mee might give you the edge you need.

Thanks. I could get Barnes or Murray ( but no week 35 game) and that would allow Mee.

Do you think Mee Barnes better combo?

Everyone's so sick of Mee not scoring they'll go cheap, it's an interesting option because the threat is still there and 1 will go in sooner or later.

I know 35 is tricky but I'd try to limit my number of transfers. Either go Lukaku now or just stick with Auba through 34. You'd probably have to captain Lukaku in 34 to make up for the hits.

Could work. Bit of a punt but he seems as likely as any of their attacking midfielders/wingers to do something, I'd much rather him than Sanchez.

He's got safer and cheaper competition from Albrighton, Gross and Gudmundsson though.

Tempted to have a punt as well. I don't trust Lukaku at all. Taking a budget United option makes it feel lower risk.

Even though I realize it's technically not lower risk, by definition, since it's a punt.

He might just be the best '8th' of the lot as we all don't get him 😆
He has an unusual attraction on top of everything else, his price, 6.0. It probably won't budge much as Gross rises. Could be a good be part of a cunning Auba>Vardy plan for 34?

When planning WC team remember that:

    - you will probably use FH in GW 35 (no permanent transfer possible)
    - you will enter GW 36 with that WC team and can use only 1 FT for that GW
    - Kane will be back and he is a must (so no other transfers we can do free)

How is your WC team look for GW 36 and whats the Kane plan?

Take a hit is the plan. My WC team for 36 is currently
      DDG Ryan
      Alonso Vert/Aldy Morgan Lowton Mariappa/Kiko
      Salah Mahrez Son William Groß
      Kane Firmino/Vardy Barnes

Not sure about benching because I haven't checked fixtures/don't know form yet

Lots of gw34 free hitters with active eildcard saying they’re bringing in Kaku rather than Auba for gw32 and 33 because they won’t ‘waste’ FT’s on bringing Kaku in for gw34.
If you’re usunt free hit chip gw 35, won’t you lose your saved up FT’s anyway?

Alderweireld if he's fit (emphasis on if) might risk it myself, not the biggest loss if he is eased in and so misses Chelsea!

Its a power 3 pick for WC GW33 and also a sugestion that Barnes wont do much vs Lei and Chelsea and Firmino will be handy in GW 36

of course there is an impact as I cant double on MAnU def but that front, templete mid and templete GKs lives me with Alonso, Morgan, Lowton, Dunk, Tarkovski/Stephens - can live with that as I think Firmino will go big

                      Yeah thinking so.

It'll be interesting to see how a free hit team does compared to a TC or BB in 34.

City's two games look amazing from a triple captain point of view but no one will make that play.

The arguments against the bench boost in 37 are the same as last year I must have got 25+ in the late DGW last year from a fairly average BB.

If I had a triple captain or if I had all chips I'd use the triple in a single gameweek. It's one player.

What do I do on WC front 8? Pulled it before DGW announced assuming they would be as expected and several price swings that never happened. Find hard to sell any of mid atm. Sterling was bought for 7.9 and Auba becomes Lukaku.

    Salah Mane Sterling Stanislas Kenedy
    Auboomerang Firmino Wilson

Keep Salah, Auba and Firm for now. Would only keep one of the rest max.

My front 8 will probably be
      Salah Mahrez Son Silva Willian
      Auba Firmino Barnes

With Auba as a Lukaku placeholder and Silva the one sacrificed before Gw34

Completely happy with my GW32 - GW35 plan below.

    DDG / Lloris
    Mustafi / Bailly / Christ / Morgan / Lowton
    Salah / Mahrez / Son / Willian / Gudmunson
    Lukaku / Aubamayang /Murray

    GW34: (14DGW'rs and Salah)

    2FT’s on below in GW34✅
    Aubamayang > Vardy
    Mustafi > Alonso

    GW36:
    Save Free Transfer
    GW37:
    DDG > £3.9 Fodder
    Alonso > Smalling/Jones
    Vardy > Kane

    Giving:
    Lloris
    Smalling Bailly Christensen Morgan
    Salah Son Mahrez Willian
    Lukaku Kane
    ———————————————
    £3.9 Murray Gudmundson Lowton

                      Otherwise i'd have.

                      Anyway, time to move on.

So you are saying that you have no proof whatsoever to back up your allegation of "appalling views" . You also have no appreciation of the Bubz situation and who first issued the threats. Additionally when someone only repeats what you have previously stated yourself on more than one occasion you are in no position to criticise. Anyway time to move on.
I wish you best for the season . Good luck.

The usually mild mannered janitor Andy practically turned into the Incredible Hulk yesterday, you got under his skin so much - and most others on here from what I've seen.

Do yourself a favour and actually take a step back for a moment and guage the actual reaction from people that your posts invoke.

The match day bilge that you puke out....
This obsession with your chip strategy and ramming it down other peoples throats.

Get a grip and stop honking up the boards with your tripe.

                and in your words.

                Good luck with your season.

And here's an ubiquitous smiley just like you like doing too to end one of your masterpieces. 🙂

                  The hate is strong.

You have the choice to ignore me. Please do so.

I don't break any rules. Neither do I post death threats nor do I endorse them. People here are not riled up by that. They rather endorse it.

But, a chip strategy of mine is the worst possible post on here.

                        Oh yes I'm.

                        Wasn't cool.

Who on a fantasy forum says that? Who says that to another person for that matter.

The mods too must have thought likewise and hence it was deleted.

                        Doesn't make them death threats.

                        Tut tut to Lawro anyway.

Didn't put you down as an ass kissing turncoat.

I will gladly take -4 or -8 after GW34 to get 2/3 City so can be flexible who that is until then
