The ScoutCast – FPL Launch Reaction

Fantasy Premier League Launch day is here and ScoutCast duo Joe and David have produced our first ever summer broadcast to offer their initial thoughts on the game and the prices.

Early doors, they couldn’t stop themselves from asking the big question: ‘Should we have Mohamed Salah in our teams when he costs £13.0m?’ You’ll have to listen in to find out their feelings on that.

Elsewhere, the reclassification of key attacking players has altered early strategies while the pair also name their over-priced assets before picking out some potential bargains.

Finally, they stick their necks out by declaring the three premium players likely to make their Gameweek 1 line-ups.

As usual you can get an audio version right here or via the first player below.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notification of our future videos to come over the summer and during the new season.

        Assists
Assists are awarded to the player from the goal scoring team, who makes the final pass before a goal is scored. An assist is awarded whether the pass was intentional (that it actually creates the chance) or unintentional (that the player had to dribble the ball or an inadvertent touch or shot created the chance).

If an opposing player touches the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, significantly altering the intended destination of the ball, then no assist is awarded. Should two opposing players touch the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, then no assist is awarded. If the goal scorer loses and then regains possession, then no assist is awarded.

        Rebounds
If a shot on goal is blocked by an opposition player, is saved by a goalkeeper or hits the woodwork, and a goal is scored from the rebound, then an assist is awarded.

        Own Goals
If a player shoots or passes the ball and forces an opposing player to put the ball in his own net, then an assist is awarded.

        Penalties and Free-Kicks
In the event of a penalty or free-kick, the player earning the penalty or free-kick is awarded an assist if a goal is directly scored, but not if he takes it himself, in which case no assist is given.

Please help... which WC team is better?
A has more players I think will have a better round but B has more balance - if things go wrong for A could end up losing 11 players for Semi Final - B worse case scenario I lose 9

    A
    Hazard, Kane, Mbappe
    Modric, Coutinho, Pogba, Bentacur, Gazinksy
    Pavard, Lovren, Meunier, Stones, Trippier
    Muslera, Subasic

    B
    Hazard, Kane, Neymar
    Modric, Pogba, Bentacur, Loftus-Cheek, Gazinsky,
Pavard, Trippier, Meunier, T. Silva, Granqvist,
    Muslera, Subasic

All the punts will probably be Everton due to fixtures but there is one team we are forgetting who are probably better (although I acknowledge fixtures are worse).
That team is Leicester, and I think Pereira and Ihaenacho are bargains, and will play a United team on the 1st day who could be weak or underprepared due to world cup commitments.

If anyone has any questions on Fulham assets feel free to send them my way! Can't begin to explain how exciting it is for me to see a Cottager back in my fantasy team.

I've started with Cairney in midfield for my first draft. 5m seems exceptional value for a player who'll play 90 minutes every game, and is the centre of everything we do. Isn't on set-pieces as he previously had been in 16/17 - that honour falls to Johansen - but could well be our penalty taker if Mitrovic doesn't sign permanently (Oliver Norwood took the majority last season, but also hasn't been signed). In the 16/17 season Cairney scored 13 goals with 12 assists, while only picking up 5 yellow cards across all competitions. He spent a lot of the first half of the 17/18 season inhibited by a knee injury, but when he eventually came back fully fit he was crucial to us going on a 23-game unbeaten run, the creative heartbeat of everything we did, getting 5 goals and 2 assists in our last 11 games, for a total of 6 goals, 5 assists and 3 yellows for the season. Not to mention scoring the winner in Championship final. Cairney doesn't run in behind, but he makes things happen from nothing, which is why I think he'll continue to be a strong asset whereas some of our players who run into space will find the Premier League a more challenging task.

Johansen is possibly a slightly more attacking option, but he comes with a penchant for being more than willing to take cynical yellow cards, something which'll probably be even more present now we're going from one of the better teams in the division to one of the worst. He also comes in at 5.5m, 0.5 more than Cairney. Johansen's numbers from 16/17 were impressive, 13 goals, 8 assists and 10 yellow cards. Last season, this decreased to 8 goals, 9 assists and a mighty 12 yellow cards.

I expect Sessegnon to play well, but see far diminished numbers from last season and unfortunately not live up to his 6.5m price tag from a fantasy perspective. Although I still expect he'll have a strong season and continue to be talked about in high regard by the media.

With Fredericks gone, I wouldn't consider any of our defensive options viable, nor our strikers whilst Mitrovic isn't on the books.

      Bettinelli will start in goal.

Will Cairney be your 4th Mid?

        1. Obi-1 Kenobi-0
          • 8 Years
          5 years, 10 months ago

Obviously subject to many weeks of change, but I'm currently leaning towards a 3-5-2 with Cairney as my 5th mid.

For my first draft, I've gone for:

Fabianski, McCarthey to rotate in goal between home fixtures.
Mendy, PvA and Coleman as my starting defenders to play most weeks, with Daniels and Bednarek on the bench.
KdB, Sané, Mkhi, Jota (underpriced, imo) and Cairney in midfield.
Lukaku, Firmino and Arnie up front.

This will certainly need to be rejigged, however, as I want to play Cairney and Jota most matches, which would mean I end up benching a 7m striker as things stand. May well drop Arnie down to a cheaper striker and see if I can work Salah into the team.

If the 4.0 options actually start... Then we can get an incredible front force....

        Here's an experimental 3-5-2 draft:

        Fabianski, Begovic
        Ward, Jags, Wan-Bissaka, Bednarek, Schelotto
        Eriksen, Mane, Sane, Silva, Ramsey
        Aguero, Firmino, Quaner
