Fantasy managers will very likely learn more about Chelsea assets from pre-season than they can from the Blues’ performances in 2018/19.

There has been a regime change at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Frank Lampard being appointed as head coach following the departure of the Juventus-bound Maurizio Sarri.

As a result, there’ll be a different system and style in place in west London next season to the regimented 4-3-3 ‘Sarri-ball’ we have become accustomed to over the last 12 months.

Lampard has already experimented with a 4-2-3-1, a 4-4-2 diamond and 4-1-4-1 in Chelsea’s pre-season fixtures so far and the aggressive press that he favoured at Derby County has been in evidence, too.

READ MORE: What Fantasy managers can expect from Frank Lampard

We Fantasy managers are also faced with the task of preparing for life without Eden Hazard for the first time in seven years.

How well the Blues can cope with their talisman’s exit is uncertain, particularly as their two-window transfer ban is still in operation.

There is still something to be gained by looking at the statistics from last season, however, to see which areas Lampard may need to address and which players could possibly shine following Hazard’s departure.

    Ederson

    TAA/Robbo/Laporte

    Salah/Yarmolenko/Perez/Ozil/Joginho

Maybe wait and see with Ozil? Bench is a bit too iffy for me. Not sure I like Jorginho as a pick. No point having Pope if you have Ederson.

Strikeforce is nice. Midfield, I think you could spend the money a lot better - Yarmolenko’s plenty punty enough - I’d get someone who’s at least assured of starts over Ozil - maybe even downgrading him and upgrading Jorginho as it’s not ideal having to play him every week imo. I’d maybe take some money out of defence (probably Laporte to ensure at least 1 starter on the bench - especially given the punty nature of some of your midfield)

One of those rare players who could get 18+ points in a game “easily” enough

It’s not a huge stretch for example, to imagine him getting an assist (from play or a corner) a goal (from play or a DFK) and a CS + 3 baps

Digne got 17 in a game last season so TAA can easily do better.

Would appreciate your thoughts on the following team:

    Ederson
    TAA, VVD, Digne, Dunk
    Salah, Sterling, Siggy, Fraser
    King, Jota

    (Button, Greenwood, Dendoncker, Kelly)
Plan is to alternate between Dunk & Dendoncker moving from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2

My dilemma is if there's a better 4.5 def option and if I should pick Deulofeu instead of King?

Really like it. Think I’d keep it as a fixed 4-4-2 though. Can only really see Dendoncker getting maybe 2-3 goals all season. Dunk more likely to get an unexpected CS.

    Too risky?

    Burnley
    TAA Robertson Zinchenko O'Connell
    Salah Sterling KDB Perez Yarmolenko
    Wilson

    Button Greenwood Nketeih Kelly

I know 451 is inflexible but it allows another heavy hitter like KDB or Son when he is back, both of those are 200 point players if they get enough minutes.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, but I just think they're expensive for what they are, and they severely limit your ability to have a balanced team - I personally think my 5 mids will get more points than both of them combined and stops putting your eggs in one basket you know?

I also have 2m in the bank to do Moura > Son when he's back who's a bit more consistent with points.

Thanks for the feedback my dude

I don't understand the appeal for Pope (or a Burnley keeper) tbh. Burnley has terrible fixtures at the beginning and they are unlikely to even be nailed, always have the risk of getting replaced after 1 or 2 poor performances.

    RMT out of 10:
    Pope

    Button, Greenwood, Wickham, Kelly

haha you can't say 'this will not work' unless of course Kelly doesn't play (which is possible at this stage) - that gives you EVE, shu, BUR, AVL - and Dendoncker is quite capable of attacking returns in that Burnley game

You absolutely can start Donkey every week. 8 big chances in half a season - extrapolate that to a full season (if he'd been a starter from the off) and 16 big chances would've put him at 6th among midfielders. Starting him is a risk, but if he keeps playing a box-to-box role it could pay off

Not a chance - and I wouldn't consider a player that has a 50/50 as a player you can 'rotate'.

I saw a thing on twitter earlier where the rotation strategy involved Gibson and Kelly - that just screams scraping the barrel to me.

Anyone else feel that Aguero is going under the radar a bit? Perhaps a little overpriced but he will bang in goals. Also, Aguero benefits more than Sterling from KDB being in the team. Sure, Sterling will score more over the season but Aguero could easily win out over the first few GWs

I don't think there's 3 other strikers I'd want tbh. I have Vardy and Ings/Adams atm in a 352. Jota is the only 6.5 that appeals in any way, I don't fancy Deu or King at all

See below, he is a great pick, but for the starting weeks, a well rested Sterling could grab the goals when Jun is subbed on 60 and Jesus comes on.

I don't think it is so bad - what we now have to compare is the highest-ceiling striker for the last few years, who is the penalty taker and a banker captain, with an alternative option who has exploded on to the scene. I think it is very clever.

I have always been an Aguero player, this year I've had to make the decision, and its not for the tiny Argentine.

I like to put a bit of weight into pre season, mainly for consistency and playing time.

However, as a King owner, seeing Fraser and Wilson doing the business is a bit worrying, I may look to move some funds to get one of them for the tasty early fixtures.

Ritchie is an interest in option in my opinion. Adding 40 points for clean sheets he would have had 150 points last season, same amount as Walker and more than Doherty. If only Newcastle fixtures were better...

Great opportunity to wait and see until gameweek 10 when the fixtures change - may even have dropped in price by that point.

Bear in mind, they played 3 at the back so he isn't completely out of position as he could have been.
