Leicester City’s squad could provide Fantasy Premier League managers with some powerful differentials in the early part of 2019/20.

Probably because of uninspiring opening fixtures, none of Brendan Rodgers’ players is owned by more than 13.7% ahead of Gameweek 1.

However, there is enough in the underlying statistics from last year to suggest the Foxes could enjoy Rodgers’ first full season at the helm.

As this article uses data Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who are signed up for the 2019/20 can access it in full.

    Which MID/FWD set up:

    A)
    Salah/Sterling/Barkley/Martial/Perez
    Vardy/Wesley/Greenwood

    B)
    Salah/Sterling/Barkley/Maddo/Donk
    Kane/Wesley/Greenwood

    C)
    Salah/Sterling/KDB/Barkley/Donk
    Vardy/Wesley/Greenwood

On A as it gives me rotation with a stronger bench, and can always drop one of my mids for funds to move around Wesley if he flops

Thoughts on Holebas? Had only 1 less goal involvement than Doherty and the same amount as pereira despite playing 800 less minutes. Great first four fixtures.

Given the fixtures Holebas could be good before he collects enough YC's for a ban.

Brighton and Newcastle are two of the best fixtures you can have. West Ham has a good attack but you never know what to expect with them. He is also on corners.

Watford's defense was ranked 12 last season according to a metric of goals conceded, xg conceded, SitB conceded, Shots conceded, and big chances conceded. They only had one less cs than wolves. They were one of the worst in the second half of the season but they tend to start well.

I have been tinkering all season, like everyone else but finally say on this team

    Heaton
    Zinchenko Coleman TAA
    Salah Sterling Perez Pulisic Pepe
    Deeney King

Thinking of Pepe to Son GW3 and hopefully Deeney to Wood when Burnley's fixtures turn.

King: with no other Bournemouth player he's likely to come bottom of the pile in most of their fixtures in my opinion as I'd fancy Wilson and Fraser to handily out point him.

Deeney: rarely scores. much better options in that bracket.

Heaton: playing in a thrown together team that looks ripe for a pounding.

Perez: in my opinion the weakest of the Leicester attack. Bit punty.

Pepe, Pulisic and Perez are all risks since I t’s not clear if any of them will start. Also Pepe hasn’t been priced and I usually try to shy away from planned transfers early in the season since you’re almost certain to make moves in the early weeks.

Matt Ryan early on seems like the best 4.5 to me. Granted last season he wasn’t the best to own and had an interrupted season with the Asian Cup. He could easily emulate 17/18 and hit a 150 point season. I fancy Brighton to have a better season than under Houghton as well.

The thing that appeals the most to me is the opening 6GW’s, Watford, West Ham, Southampton, Burnley, Newcastle. Chances are you aren’t going to be having any attacking assets from any of these clubs and therefore your outfield players doing well will not be at the detriment to your GK.

After the first 6 GW’s we will know who the best emerging 4.5 really is and can WC to them.

    1. JohnnyMagrinho
      6 years, 11 months ago

Cannot understand why people are convinced going anywhere near Brightin's defence makes sense.

Ryan isn't the worst shout for save points but the other 4.5m goalkeepers will probably end up facing similar amount of shots but probably keep more clean sheets.

Either way, the disparity between the points totals of keepers at seasons end is quite low. I don't think it's an area that needs too much discussion or thought. Barring City or Pool keepers, there wasn't really much in it points per million-wise or indeed points total.

Whoever you go with as a 4.5 or 5m GK.. I just can't see it making too much difference come season end.

And Brighton really are horrendous and I'd be amazed if they don't get relegated this season. Defensively they're atrocious, I really do not understand some of the love they get.

I like the logic re: no attackers v your keeper! Very smart. I think my only concern is that they’re just a bad football team. It’s good to rely on saves but it tough to see more than 2 CS in that mix. Despite that I don’t think it’s a bad choice.

You should factor into the equation that new manager Potter has a lot more attacking philosophy than Hughton. Logically, that should make Brighton more vulnerable at the back.

His total score was under called last season due to the oceanic barbecue cup or whatever that was around Christmas - if you add Button’s score on it bumps it up a bit...

But I reckon Henderson has a stingier defence in front of him - SU had a fairly mean goals conceded, particularly at home - he should get oodles of save points

Both Pope & Heaton have 150+ pedigree’s from season’s past and crucially have had their oaths clearedin term sof completion & look nailed- I’d have those three before Ryan

Good pick but not as good as Salah or Sterling so I've accepted that he will score well, but I will have to find other avenues to get points - premium gk & defenders, the best mid price player etc.

That's how I see it. He'll probably do very well but you simply can't get a good well-balanced squad with SS and K, and SS take priority.

    2. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years
      6 years, 11 months ago

My own thoughts are unfortunately not positive - he has spent most of the last 6 months out with chronic ankle problems, his manager has started viewing him as more of a deep lying hub for his pacy wingers to run off, and he's demonstrated in multiple prior seasons that even when he bangs in 30+ goals he still doesn't get too much over 200 points

Salah by contrast has a 'bad' season and still gets 260...Sterling is pretty much the main attacking threat in the greatest attack England has ever seen...

And to add insult to injury they both get an extra point per goal AND a clean sheet bonus

It is not an opinion I've formed overnight - this is from a long observation of both Kane and the general FPL landscape

Is also definitely NOT the same thing as saying he won't hattrick in GW1 though as there's a definite possibility he could do exactly that

But it won't be for my team if it happens

Cheers! Put it well, especially the part about son and moura making runs behind him. Wondering if Ndombele will help and allow kane to stay the farthest up, but still feel he won't be worth it and that son might be able to almost match him

If you are concerned about Spurs take Lucas for first two gws where Son is definitely out, and then review ahead of GW3. Just make sure you've a route to Kane in two moves if you think it becomes necessary...

I'm starting with all 3 and downgrading one to whoever appeals in the mid price bracket after 3 weeks to upgrade my cheap 5.5 punt ie Robinson. Works well and doesn't leave me exposed. If all 3 of them look good il just make transfers elsewhere and survive with them. The sub 6.5 bracket looks good for midfielders(Leicester, Chelsea, promoted sides) and forwards(about 12 team's forwards can be covered at 6.5).

where will he play though ?, in Brighton's last friendly Potter went with Murray Locadia & Trossard as a front 3 that worked really well as they won 4-0 with all of them getting attacking returns, Gross sat out that match for some reason, i think they play Valencia tonight though which should be more informative

    Different approach, thoughts?

    Ryan
    TAA Walker Digne Ake LUNDSTRAM
    Salah KDB Barkley DEN HAYDEN
    Auba Kane GREENWOOD

Idea to rotate four caps locked players every week based on the fixture.

Not bad don't like Ake but the fixtures aren't bad to start with.

Yep you've got it. Could make a case for Robbie/TAA, VVD, Digne then swap VVD for Laporte after gw2

Absolute crazy money. Brighton can go down with no worries if they get that! Dunk will be the best owned DEF in the game!

Auba can play wing and I can’t see Pepe featuring too much in the first two matches

    B) Heaton Taylor

    Thoughts? Is Taylor really nailed?

  28. Bad Kompany

Are either of Rico or Lundstram actually nailed?

Want to upgrade VVD to Robertson but that would mean owning both of them and since Greenwood is the other bench option it might mean I have no one who plays on my bench

Im not too worried about my bench to start with, starting xi should be good to go and will inevitably make a move after gw2. Starting with Kane Salah and KDB so one could be downgraded a little

I'm worried as not all players are nailed. For instance I have taa, zinchenko, and possibly martial/barkley

Hmmm tough call with Zinch but the rest should be fine? I think TAA elevated himself to starter this season

    Kane (C) - King

    Stekelenburg - Greenwood - Lund - Dendo

You throw Zabaleta into the mix and he's a transfer waiting to happen.
