The jury is still out on Manchester United’s Fantasy assets going into the new campaign.

The new manager bounce that the club experienced after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment in December gave way to some middling form in the final nine Gameweeks of the season.

Their pre-season results (five wins from six) have been quietly encouraging, at least, with Inter Milan and Spurs among the teams already beaten in July.

This latest Numbers Game piece differs from the usual format as we focus on the impact Solskjaer had on United’s assets in the second half of last season.

The Norwegian first took charge of the Red Devils in Gameweek 18, so we will examine United’s stats before and after the departure of Jose Mourinho.

All down to personal preference really. Brighton playing with wingbacks in preseason, if they revert back to 4 at the back then he's not a great pick. I prefer Dunk for the goal threat though

I recently took an interest in Montoya as RWB in BHA's 3-4-3. Admittedly his teammate Dunk had more attacking returns in preseason but I don't suppose that will last.

    Can’t decide which one...

    A)
    Heaton
    TAA, VVD, Digne, Laporte
    Fraser, Perez, Barkley, Salah, Sterling
    Wilson

    B)
    Heaton,

    Heaton
    Robbo - VvD - Zinchenko - Digne
    Salah - Sterling - KdB - Fraser - McGinn
    King

Could also downgrade KdB to Bilva and upgrade McGinn to Perez, but not sure IS IT a worth it.

After 2 weeks could also do Fraser to Perez. And KdB to Son.

I don't have him but still think he would be a good pick. £6.0m way in to Chelsea attack, playing number 10 role and on set pieces. Pros far out weight the cons (rotation risk).

Not starting on Saturday was a blow (think some expected that), outlining that mount and barkley could easily share more gametime than the hype during the week suggested. It's a marginal one, I think everyone is more or less agreed he will score well for a 6m per minute played, but if that 50% taking in every game he will score poorly (under 3ppg), if its 75% in 3 out of 4 games, he will score well (4ppg)

RMT anyone? Settled on this team and will wildcard after 2 gameweeks, aiming for very strong start. Bench very weak because will have 1 FT before second gameweek to fix any issue from starting 11.

    Leno
Digne - Robbo - Van Dijk
    Salah - Sterling - Fraser - Doucoure - Perez
    Wilson - Deeney

    Bench: Kelly, Lundstram, Wickham

    1. Don Kloppeone
      • 8 Years
      6 years, 7 months ago

Its very decent but I would personally only go for 1 WAT attack and switch out Leno as I wouldn't be starting with ARS defence.

Maybe Leno > 4.5 and Doucoure > Hayden so you can play 4-4-2 and bring in a decent playing 4th defender?

      1. Winter_is_coming
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Think long enough about Leno, but his 2 fixtures combined looks like good CS possibility, even with Ars defense.
Don`t trust any defender (apart from which I`m already own) to outscore someone like Doucoure in 2 gameweeks, at longer distance - easily, just not good fixtures (for City, Man Utd, Spurs and other top-defenders) for 1-2.
And main reason - Doucoure have perfect Brighton home fixture and after it I can switch him for Trossard or any 5,5-6,0 bandwagon from 1 gameweek.
Only other thought were drop Leno for Henderson/Ryan/Pope and upgrade Doucoure to Josh King, but triple Bournemouth?

Torn between a Kane/ Auba team and another

              A)
              Heaton

              Salah, Sterling, Perez, MOURA

Personally I like draft without heavy strikers from the start, when you can pick Wilson + 6,5 with great fixtures. Analyze after 4 gameweeks are Kane or Auba going strong and you can buy them on WC and restructure team, but, imho, from the start forward line in draft A took too much your funds.

If I don't go for Kane in GW1 I will def get Moura in. He is likely to be a good pick in GW1 especially with no Son, Alli out and Eriksen not yet finding his shooting boots.

You’ll essentially be setting yourself up for 1 game. Second game is against Man City and 3rd Son is back.

But Alli still won't be back for the 3rd from the sounds of things... so even if Son is back he might only be taking Lamela or Sissoko or [someone else's] place.

          I think at 7.5 he's worth a punt for AVL + NEW.

Until all I is back absolutely. But that may not be for much longer than 3 games. Poch is tinkering a troubling punt in pre season. Luvas seems to be safe for now along with Kane and ndombele. The rest will struggle to get regular games until he finds something he wants to make work which I think is the 41212 with Ndombele next to sissoko in CM

Lost a couple of pages back - also conscious I haven't been replying to others enough - will get on that 🙂

    Damn the tinkering!
I decided to see what I could do if I removed one of my LIV double defence and I have to admit it looks good...

    Heaton
    VVD, Digne, Walker, Dunk
    Salah, Sterling, Perez, McGinn
    Kane/ Auba, Wilson
    (Button) (Dendo, Lundstram, Greenwood)

The alternative is Dunk, McGinn, Kane >>> Robbo/ TAA, Moura, Jota/ Deulo

It's hard for me to be objective as a LIV fan, am I mad to be considering not having one of TAA or Robbo?

    Advice appreciated!

Depends how much you really want Salah and Sterling but not mad to go without either Robbo/Trent

I am pretty certain Salah and Sterling is how I want to kick things off

Walker is not 100% guaranteed but he has played very well in preseason so I would think Cancelo coming in is not a given to replace Walker. I could do Digne, Walker > Coleman, Laporte but not sure I prefer it

I agree re Greenwood but he is 3rd on the bench for a reason...

I really only have Digne for the attacking threat so not sure re Coleman but that could be an option.

I think if I go down the Kane or Auba route I would plan to stick with whichever I choose rather than plan transfers

Nathan Ake to Leicester not happening because of the £75m price tag.

Bournemouth well in their rights to demand an extortionate fee given Maguire isn't that much better than him.

You can get Leicester’s striker for 0.5m cheaper and not many want to double up with their fixtures

Who is the best £6.5m striker option? Heard a lot of talk about King only really performing in Wilson's absence.

    Heaton
    VVD Digne zich
    Salah sterling martial siggy perez
    wilson ings

    Button diop/dunk wickham lund

    Any glaring mistake?
Ings is very decent at 6.0 but really injury prone, should I go with Che Adams?

I’d have a look at Martial or Siggy to upgrade Ings.

there is no good FWD at price bracket 7-8M, thats why I opted Ings. For Martial, I like to have 7.5M mid because there are so many option in that price such as pulisic, fraser, etc. Do u have suggestion for premium FWD?

Pls take a look at these beauties:

    Ederson - Button

    VVD - AWB - KWP - Zouma - Lundstram

    Salah - Sterling - Fraser - Perez - Robinson

    Vardy - Joelinton - Obafemi

Like the GK, Def and mids.

Front 3 looks like a risk to me, given you've got a full playing Def and mid why not downgrade obafemi to 4.5 then go 6.5 fwd as a safer bet over Joel. Then if he starts firing you can afford him easily

Nearly set on my team just a couple of tbc.

    Lloris (button)

    Robbo, vvd, laporte, Coleman (Lundstrom)

    Salah, sterling, Kdb, Norwood (dendonck)

    Jota, king (greenwood)

I'm pretty set on a decent keeper as per £1.0m keepers are the most efficient points over the past couple seasons. So would you go:

    A) Lloris, laporte, Norwood
    B) Ederson, 5.5 tott def, mcginn
