Fixtures

Blank Gameweek 31 fixtures confirmed after FA Cup ties

The full schedule for Blank Gameweek 31 is now known after the completion of Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth round ties.

Victories for Leicester City and Norwich City meant that two more Premier League fixtures fell by the wayside and will now need to be rearranged due to the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals later this month.

Manchester City also progressed after a win over Sheffield Wednesday but Pep Guardiola’s side were already assured of a Blank Gameweek 31 after Chelsea‘s victory over Liverpool on Tuesday.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Sheffield United made it through to the last eight of the FA Cup earlier in the week.

Manchester United face Derby County on Thursday evening but the result of that match will be immaterial to the Gameweek 31 picture.

The confirmed line-up for Blank Gameweek 31 is as follows:

Burnley v Watford
Liverpool
v Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers
v Bournemouth

Gameweek 34

The FA Cup results also have implications further down the road.

The semi-finals of that competition clash with Gameweek 34, so a maximum of four Premier League matches will be postponed on the weekend of April 18/19.

Manchester City v Newcastle United is one of those fixtures, as the pair meet in the FA Cup quarter-finals and one of the two clubs will make it through to the semis, thus necessitating a rescheduling of their Gameweek 34 match.

However, a free midweek follows that round of league fixtures, so the games in question could simply be moved to the Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday afterwards.

Aston Villa v Sheffield United, originally earmarked for Gameweek 28, and the six postponed Gameweek 31 fixtures also have to be rescheduled, however, so it remains to be seen how the Premier League will go about setting new dates for those matches and whether Double Gameweek 34 will absorb some of them.

A Double Gameweek 37 looks fairly assured, given the lack of available midweeks elsewhere.

We currently have only four Premier League fixtures definitely going ahead on their original dates in Blank Gameweek 34:

Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton and Hove Albion v Liverpool
Everton
v Southampton
West Ham United v Burnley

OUTSTANDING FIXTURES

The following games still have to be rearranged:

Aston Villa v Sheffield United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 28)
Chelsea v Manchester City (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Leicester City v Brighton and Hove Albion (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Manchester United v Sheffield United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Newcastle United v Aston Villa (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Norwich City v Everton (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Southampton v Arsenal (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Manchester City v Newcastle United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 34)

It probably won’t be until just after Gameweek 31 that we will know when some, possibly all, of the outstanding Premier League fixtures will take place, as the results of the FA Cup quarter-finals will have a huge bearing on the season run-in.

My team as it stands for this GW:
    Pope
    TAA/Robertson/Boly
    KDB/Mane/Barnes/Saka
    Aubameyang (C), Ings, Jiminez
    Bench: Richarlison, Lascelles,Tanganga

Do I use my second FT (brought in Saka) and go Boly >Otamendi or bank it?

In all honesty I’d play richarlison over saka, double or not.

Yeah it’s tough. Saka probably won’t be able to bomb forward much v City and is looking at a solid 2pts.

But yeah I’ve got Saka and will probably play him.

    How's my WC team?

    Pope* McCarthy
    TAA* Doherty* Taylor* Cathcart* Tanganga*
    Salah* KDB Bruno Saka Dendoncker*
    Auba Jota* DCL

I'll move Saka to Moura for GW31.

DCL's been with me since GW20, I have so much value in him and it would be unreal to sell him with his form now. I hope 10 players will be more than enough for GW31.

I think he will be fit in time for Arsenal and he's way too high owned to be taking risks with him.

Up to you of course. Looks pretty samey to most teams on here, unless you’ve got a great rank and want to protect it, I’d take more risks.

I was having a terrible season and then punted on Pepe, after his haul my enthusiasm is renewed for the game. Could’ve gone the other way of course, but the end of the season is drawing near.

If you’re chasing, your differentials have arrived.

I reckon Man City will batter Arsenal as usual and probably beat Man U. All you need is Aguero to play 60 mins in one and have a cameo in the other and you could be looking at 2 goals and 2 sets of bonus.

Of course he could play 70 in one, blank and be rested in the other. Which is what most appear to assume.

I don't really see the appeal in this DGW. City are unlikely to keep multiple CS and none of the attacking options are guaranteed to play both.

I am considering just ignoring this week, getting in form players for the upcoming fixtures, free hitting in 31 and hoping several of my players will have a double in 34.

    Sound strategy??

    McCarthy
    TAA, Pereira, James, Aurier, Rico
    Salah, Fernandes, Richarlison, De Bruyne
    Firmino, Jota, Ings

Considering getting Calwert-Lewin and Alonso in for Aurier and Ings. A penny for your thoughts, please.

Don’t want any Arsenal? Don’t think that Aguero/Sterling/Mahrez could haul in just one fixture?

It’s all up to you, but I’m surprised how negative everyone is on this DGW.

Arsenal's price points are just so awkward. It's really only Auba but do not like his positioning most games.

Would have to be Aguero I guess, but Pep has started resting him in big games now (real madrid), but maybe he won't to that to the legend himself too many times. He did play in both of cup games which I do not like at all...

Got 1FT, Free Hit, WC and BB left.

What on earth do I do here?!

    Ryan
    TAA, Robbo, Soy
    Salah, KDB, Fernandes, Grealish
    Vardy, Jimenez, Ings
    Button l Fernández, Dendoncker, Simpson

My thinking is I basically ignore the fact city & arsenal have a DGW this week and I free hit 31. Thoughts?

Save FT this week (if KDB & Vardy are fit) and then I guess I’ll have to Free Hit 31 as I only have 5 players for it currently (and 3FTs before then )??

If you could get this 11 out for 31 for -4 would you save the FH chip for a DGW? I think it’s a yes, but with all chips remaining, that would mean one of FH/BB/TC would likely be in a SGW...

    Pope*
    TAA, Aurier, Doherty*
    Salah, Mane, Moura, Bergwijn*, Dendoncker
    Ayew, Jimenez*

    * being the players I’d bring in.

Could do I suppose. Although only have Auba and can’t bring in any more ARS/MCY if going down the no FH31 route. Any chance we get another DGW outside of 29/34/37?

Hmmm. A conundrum. Given my squad I don’t think it makes sense to FH31 now. So that’ll either mean Auba(TC) this week or a TC outside of a DGW. And then WC32/33, BB34 and FH37. Reckon that sounds best?

            1. Holmes
              • 10 Years
              4 years, 2 months ago

TC is just one extra player, so I'm not sure its worth having headache for long. If in SGW, then Salah vs Villa in 33 is an option.

              One of the options I'm looking at is WC32, BB33, TC/FH34, FH/TC37

Would mean BB in a single GW but fixtures in that week are easy for some teams.

Criminally overlooked by so many. wouldn't be surprised if he smashes it in gw31

very overlooked on this site...if I was getting Watford I'd get him over Sarr 100%

Actually planning to get both. . Im loaded up on wolves trio (Doherty Jimmy Traore) and no everton fixture means Jota and DCL are no options

Hence Deeney could come in for Ings and Sarr for Barnes

Sarr has better upside. Plus upfront options are more better

Sarr great option. But im taking about big troys potential here.

Expect both to do well over coming fixtures

      Too many strikers atm.
But yeah, I'm looking at him as a possible incoming. It's him or Sarr for me

Doubt he smashes a Burnley side, more likely to get a red due to frustration 😀

        Have you been watching Burnley?

Im a pope owner but they have been extremely lucky against Bournemouth and Newcastle.Conceded lots of chances and a decent attack like Watford can put them to sword

Unless you want Spurs assets vs Wham, gw 31 looks most useless to get players in on FH/WC. People with Auba can punt on Kane then as he should be fit by then hopefully else a boring triple wolves+liv gw

Sonny back might turn things upside down 😮
I heard he may play with a protection around his hand.

Worth FH this team in BGW31?

    McCarthy(x)
    TAA, Aurier, Fernández(x), Williams(x), Rico(x?)
    Salah, Bruno(x), KDB(x), Saka(x), Cantwell(x)
    Firmino, Auba(x), Ings(x)

Only 4 players, maybe 5 with Rico.
