Want to work for Fantasy Football Scout? Get in touch

As we gear up for the start of the 2020/21 season, we at Fantasy Football Scout are frantically working behind the scenes to make improvements for our site users and subscribers.

We have a number of exciting developments in the pipeline but we’ll need an additional body to help us roll out the changes we have planned.

This time we are looking for someone to take on a full-time tech-based role.

We want a front-end web developer with experience capturing requirements and delivering projects.

We are looking for the following skills from our candidates:

FRONT-END

  • HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Sass
  • React
  • jQuery
  • Bootstrap
  • AJAX

EXPERIENCE

  • BSC Computer Science or related 2.1 min
  • Two years minimum commercial experience

We mostly work remotely but, on occasion, we like to get together in person – so if you are based in/around London (or able to work there now and again), that would be beneficial.

However, those that work outside of London should most definitely still apply. Talent is more important to us than postcode!

Flexibility of hours is also preferable.

Based on past experience with our job adverts, we need to stress that it may take a little time to look through and respond to applications.

If you want to get involved with the next chapter of the site, please drop us a line with your CV at jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Not seeing Dendoncker as a cheap fifth mid in many drafts. Is he now unlikely to get minutes?

He played as a poo most of the season. Zero upside.

Slightly less cheap than last year, and his 4.5 price-point has been usurped by Vinagre.

High risk of rotation and likely when he does come on you'll have benched his points.

Depending on if Aguero is fit for start of season what do you think of this?

    McCarthy
    Saliba / vinagre/ TAA
    Auba / salah / greenwood / ASM / soucek
    Aguero / Werner

    Button / Taylor / Ferguson / Davis

Despite the old golden rule of “always pick and captan a fit Aguero” he could be a huge differential (vs the million or so active players)

No one sane on mind would fire Pep. Especially Man City's sporting directors. Unless he wants to leave it's not going to happen.

    thoughts?

    Ryan
    TAA VVD Shaw* Vinagre Taylor
    Salah KDB Fernandes
    Werner Antonio

    4x fodder

    * if shaw is fit to start

I like it especially being able to fit in the big 3 midfielders. Shaw is a rotation risk with Williams though pal and struggles to stay fit. Personally I would downgrade him to a 4.0 and upgrade your 4th midfielder, there are some good 5.5mil options in Saint-Max, Harrison, even McGinn to name a few.

I know that TAA-less teams os a ‘no go’ for most in here, but What do you think?
Idea is to use the transfers between the 4.5’s and jump on bandwagons while leave the front 8 untouched if possible.

    Ryan
    Vinagre - KWP - Taylor - Dallas -
    Auba - KDB - Salah - Bruno - Soucek
    Werner

    (Button, Ferguson, Davis, Vassilev)

Davis and Vassilev should be good for a combined 1-pointer

No one is essential.. it is all about team balance and captaincy. If you are not captaining TAA then imo he isn't essential.

It's so unbalanced. No from me.

You're still missing tons of big hitters. Kane, Rashford, Martial, Aguero, Sterling. You will have to rotate those attackers.

      1. LangerznMash

Exactly. So pigeonholing yourself in by picking 3 super tier players in Salah, KdB, Auba limits your flexibility severely.

      2. Salarrivederci
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

Ye it is unbalanced, but I am actually kinda alright just owning the offensive penalty taking asset from each of the top 5 clubs in PL 😉

Know KDB could miss out on those with Agüero back, but from the get go he is enough City for me. Makes me sleep better not having to worry about rotation.

Someone else than Werner could shoot the ones Chelsea gets, but he is the most likely one imo.

Auba, Salah and Penandes on that job atm.

There's more than 1 way to play the game. Don't think it's the worst strategy but it's probably better value to downgrade Auba and bring in TAA

      1. Salarrivederci
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

        Ye I think you're right.
Problem is it is hard to know right now which 8-9m who will be the best and which Premium heavy midfielder will be the worst.

TAA is TAA. I know it is a risk, but Salah/Auba/KDB/Fernandes + 1x 4.5 defender could be -> Son/Pulisic/Ziyech/Greenwood + TAA after GW 2 if my call is wrong.

    4. Marmalade Forest
      • 6 Years
      3 years, 8 months ago

I think VVD could be worth it over TAA.

      TAA is a 4.0+3.5m
      VVD is a 4.0+ 2.5m

Looking at spare money on your baseline squad, TAA costs 40% more.
Assuming you’re always interested in saving money to spend elsewhere, TAA needs to far exceed VVD to be worth it.

Obviously on the other hand. He’s only 7.5m and will almost certainly outscore most/all 7.5m forwards and mids - but if you can turn Son into Bruno or whatever you think is a good midfield upgrade because of it, it could be, maybe, time will tell, worth it.

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Meh. You can make the same argument that your 6.5m forward has to signficiantly outscore VvD (which he won't) so by this logic you should play 4 or 5 at the back with double Liverpool.

        1. Marmalade Forest
          • 6 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

          I wholly agree that a 6.5 won’t outscore VVD over a season.

But you can upgrade X to Y over a five week period and perform much better with the extra 1m whilst VVD (roughly) tracks TAA.

    5. Another Hoops
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 8 months ago

My concern would be that some weeks you might only have a 9-man/ 10-man team. I appreciate you have 5 big hitters in there but I think it's a very risky strategy.

      1. Andy_Social
        • 11 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

My squad runs this risk. I find myself asking why it's so essential to have 11 starters every week. If final OR benefits from the risk, take the risk I say.

      2. Salarrivederci
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

        Ye I agree.
If i knew that either Davis or Vassilev would get 1 minute on the field each GW. then I don't think it is so bad. Ferguson starts as long as Palace are this injured. Some with Vinagre, and Vinagre is an easy swap for another 4.5 when Jonny is back and fit.

Vinagre, Taylor & KWP (hell even Dallas/Ayling) all plays for teams, that looks solid at the back. Wolves and Burnley we all know. Southampton looked strong at the back after restart. Leeds could be the next SHU/WOL kind of team.
I know they won't get near the same amount of CS's as City and Pool (and maybe United), but they could easily get the same CS's as Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham - for less money.

And if I am dead wrong I can just bring 1 big hitter (lets say Auba) down to whatever 8-9 midfielder who is banging (Son, Ziyech, Pulisic, Greenwood) and upgrade 1 of my 4.5's to TAA.

Might go double (VVD) in a back 4 with Laporte which still allows utilising Vinagre & Charlie Taylor's value - rotating those two guys plus leaves a decent first sub most weeks

        Triple could be unreal though

      McCarthy Nyland
      TAA Saliba Vinagre Ayling Johnson
      Salah KdB Fernandes Ziyech Soucek
      Martial Mitrovic Vassilev

Not a dramatic difference last season I think, only misses out on about 5 points due to A) Lack of West Ham clean sheets B) decent bonus return.

I have them both, however, I am a hammer. Soucek is a no brainer ar his price range, and so is Antonio for me. He emerged as our striker in the restart and that's what he'll do this season. The only other option is Haller. We played some good, attractive football once the pressure of relegation was gone and against lesser opposition, Antonio will always score goals. I'm happy to wager that he'll score more than mitrovic this season. He's not a sexy goal scorer, but he'll work hard and get the goal I'm the back of the net. If the first few fixtures are kind, he'll do well

Robbo had a higher ceiling but with Tsmiskas coming in I'd rather go VVD and save the 0.5 because I don't see either option outscoring the other by much. You could also save another 0.5 by getting a 4.0 defender in but then what would you do with the spare 1 mil you have now? 😉

Not that. If you cheaper than a 6m striker, you might as well go 4.5 and bank the change. In your case I think you should stick with your draft.

Keep Robbo (without Salah/Mane you surely want de assister to compensate a bit).

But do the 4,5 def to a 4,0. Use the 0,5 to upgrade Jimmy to Martial / Mitro to Antonio

My concern would be the ~8m price point midfielder...
If one of Ziyech/Greenwood/Son etc explodes, you may not be able to get to them in two moves, without downgrading one of the premiums, which fixtures may make the decision very undesirable.

        He's a "wait-and-see" for me.

Taken a while for him to get going in both seasons, so I'll happily wait on him & strike if I think he's about to enter a streak of form. Others have mentioned the rotation possibilities as well... nice price though, and far more of an option as a MID.

I started last season with 433 and it worked well for two weeks but it doesn’t offer enough flexibility. I think 4 mids formation is a must, either 442 or 343

      A) Vinagre and Bruno (with 4.5m forwards on bench)
      B) Doherty and Martial (with 4.5m mid on bench)

Both players would play every GW.

I had a similar predicament but Rashford replacing Martial in your options. Decided to go A because of Bruno's assist and goal potential and because he is on the majority of set-pieces.

        Very much so

Have a different set up in my plan B side where Ziyech money is put up top and I roll with a cheap 4th mid. Just not sure I have the patience to roll with all that money at the back. Plan A is quadruple 4.5 at the back - it gives me more flexibility to hit high scorers in attack. Less value based but funner!

Yeah trying to minimise transfers in defence this season, unless forced.
3/4 solid defenders at the back lets you utilize your transfers further up field

      3. Lebowski85
        • 11 Years

        Quite possibly.

Assuming Ings scores the same points as last season, then you get around 11.6 points per 0.5 spent. Ignoring captain points etc. Adams would need to get about 140 to be worth as much, economically speaking, which is definitely possible.

However, based on points scored per minutes played...they are very closely matched. if Adams played as many minutes as Ings, they'd have ended up with almost identical points. In which case 6.0 looks an absolute steal.

Both of these are quite crude calculations though....

Here's my latest draft. Jam packed with premiums.....frontline subject to change depending on fixtures.

      4-4-2

      Ryan
      TAA Laporte Doherty Ayling/Saliba

I quite like that. Strong defence and midfield. I had a draft like that but decided the front line was just too weak. I'd upgrade Ayew and sacrifice one of your chosen.

It will be more than 30 points now that Bruno takes most set pieces and Auba is a midfielder. If you can justify Auba I'd go for it. I really want him but I just can't fit him in.

No one interested in Martinez as the cheap option. Surely did enough to earn the no.1 for the start of the season at least? Arsenal looking much better defensively too?

        • 11 Years

Yes. I'm on him but I seemed to be alone there. What I've done is partner him with 4m Nyland. If I'm unlucky and Leno gets the gloves, I still have a starting keeper while Heaton is injured. Gives me an opportunity to get a different 4.5 keeper. But until we hear for sure, I think it's worth risking Martinez - if he is first choice he's a heck of a bargain especially if Saliba is good enough and Arsenal are going for another top CB.
