Fantasy Bundesliga returns for 2021/22 – sign up to our mini-league to win prizes

Fantasy Bundesliga is back for the 2021/22 season – and Fantasy Football Scout will be the place to come for tips and advice not just in pre-season but throughout the campaign.

German football enthusiasts and Scout site users FFFrog and Stats Don’t Lie will be writing for us on everything from strategy guides to Scout Picks for the upcoming Matchday.

And we’ve also launched our very own mini-league, which we are delighted to announce will offer prizes to the manager of the month and overall winner and runner-up:

HOW TO SIGN UP TO AND PLAY FANTASY BUNDESLIGA

Click on this link here to sign up to Fantasy Bundesliga and pick a team.

As for the game itself, you’ll notice some similarities to Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Managers have a budget with which to choose a squad of 15 players and then select a starting XI for the next Matchday (the equivalent of a Gameweek).

As in FPL, players then score points based on their on-field achievements – in Fantasy Bundesliga, this ranges from everything from goals to duels won.

Free transfers are allowed between Matchdays, while price rises also occur due to player performances.

Those are the basics but we’ll return tomorrow with an in-depth article on the scoring system and rules, including all you need to know on ‘Star Players’ (which assume the role of FPL captains) and substitutions.

How does the host break even? Basically you're talking about sky sports fantasy football and maybe 1 or 2 other sites with advertising revenue.

      I’d say so.

Bellerin is leaving, Cedric will be backup. He may start some games but I think Chambers gets the majority.

    Would appreciate a RMT 🙂

    Bachmann (Foster)

TAA Shaw Veltman ( Ayling, Omobamidele)

Salah Fernandes Havertz Buendia ( Brownhill)

    Antonio Watkins Toney

    Thanks!

Similar to mine, I think veltman and ayling are best rotating 4.5 defenders

Do you prefer Buendia to Raphinha?

A bit worried about double Villa attack but opening fixtures are great.

On Veltman, when Lamptey comes back, do you think he will still be in the starting XI?

Would think there is a decent chance if he plays well but who knows.

Lamptey and his return is also unknown, no timeline at all.

What are folks thoughts on a GW1 Bench Boost? Was just thinking BB is quite hard to call usually -- last year I used it during a double GW and got practically nothing back from it. Considering that a wildcard in the first 6-8 weeks is fairly likely I'm quite tempted by the idea.

    Team currently looks like:
    Schmeichal, Sanchez
Robbo, AWB, Digne, Coufal, Ait Nouri
Salah (c), Greenwood, Buendia, Raphinha, Havertz
    Watkins, Antonio, Toney

The idea would be to drop Havertz after GW1 and keep an eye on Sancho/Bruno/Greenwood in the first few weeks, eventually getting Trent in there too.

    Am I off base here?

Thinking about it myself as well, as BB is the chip that favours me the least(not that I'm quite lucky with other chips either). Highest I've scored from BB in the last 5 years or so is 10 points. Might just get done with it in the first GW itself.

Oof dude, I used it last season for the DGW. I think Smith-Rowe, Holding, some other defender, and a GK got me around 40 points.

I always think back to that first season the BB was introduced, and we all hauled 100+ points in an epic DGW with Sanchez and Aguero popping off.

I always save for a DGW because of this. Hasn’t been as good since!

You know I think I had the exact same experience and then had exactly nothing back from it since. Conversely, every year I look at my bench points at the start and think damn. Should have BBd.

And now of course it won't work!

I would just save it for a double games week.

I know it can be a lottery but I got 30 odd points extra last season in a double gamesweek

Keeping an eye on Begovic, Thomas and ESR for BB options in GW1. Cheap enough to avoid the immediate wildcard as you can bench them in GW2. Wishful thinking, but still an unknown at this stage. Community Shield gives us some insight into Leicesters lineup and managers tend to be fairly forthcoming with Goalkeeper situations. Currently lined up as follows:

      Sanchez, Begovic
      TAA, Chilwell, Shaw, Digne, Thomas
      Salah, Havertz, Jota, Sarr, ESR
      DCL, Ihenacho, Antonio

I don't understand RMTs. To me, the game is a lot more enjoyable when i trust my own opinion over everyone else's, even if it means I end up doing worse as a result. At least i'll be making my own bad decisions rather than someone else's good ones.

Hard to say. He was well behind Ritchie towards the end of last season. He is probably the one we would like to play but his confidence was shot last year so he was a shadow of a player. I suspect we will try to bring in a LB.

I think it’s their Defenders that will be the ones to go for.

They were a very defence oriented team in the Championship, not really a team that went out to try and score loads of goals. They’d try to bore you to death with a 1-0 win.

If that was their MO in the Championship I can’t see how they’re suddenly going to abandon that and go attack crazy in the Premier League.

It’s what is putting me off Sarr as an FPL player.

I can see lamptey being another Ferguson, almost ready for the start of the season then ends up missing 50% of it

    Toby's off to atar.

Spurs' only CBs at the moment are Dier and Rodon, both 4.5. Romero due to join imminently mind, but bargains to be had.

    A. TAA, Robbo, Buendia
    B. Chilwell, Targett/5.0 (not Coufal, who's in both drafts), Son

I think A probably scores more over the season, but it could be close.
Figure a somewhat conservative 185 each for Trobbo; 150 for Buendia = 520.
150 seems achievable for Chilly and the 5.0 could get 140; 200 for Son = 490.
Could be closer still if A slate underperforms / Son exceeds 200. But Trobbo could also come closer to 200 apiece, widening the spread.

Biggest downside to A seems like lack of flexibility / need to hold faith with Trobbo even if they hit a shaky patch.

Key question is 'how long for'?
I have all of A, but i'm aiming to WC early. If it's for half a season, I'd want Chilwell, but he can wait until GW7

Fair question! I'm not *planning* an early WC.

In A, I would hope that at least one, if not both, of TAA and Rob would be season keepers. Buendia would stay as long as he produced at a level commensurate with his price tag. Potential downside here being availabiity of good alternatives at the price. Already have Raph, so would need someone like Harrison or ESR to emerge if sticking with Trobbo at the back.

In B, Son hopefully a keeper with Chilly and the 5.0 subject to moves based on form and fixtures.

You expecting Chilly to break out a bit this year?

I expect Chilwell to be one of the top defenders this season, yeh. But I'm waiting until their fixture turn GW7 to load up on Chelsea - probably via a wildcard. Same with Leeds - I expect to have at least 2 on my wildcard but am devoid at the start. I'm focussing mainly on those with the best opening fixtures - Liverpool, United, Everton, Villa.

Played Euros with a broken rib. Needs mending. My view is it can't be very serious and Ole seems to think he has a high chance of making it. As I say, can leave it to last minute.

I see early clean sheets and assist opportunities, so I definitely want Shaw as soon as he's good to go. But I'm using my WC soon after TDD, so if Trippier arrives, that'll be taken into consideration soon enough.

    Bruno less is so tempting

    Based on last season's ppg

    Bruno (6.6) + 4.5 def (~3.0) = 9.6
    Son (6.2) + Robbo (4.2) = 10.4

Expect Robbo's ppg to be higher with VVD back too

    1. Rasping Drive
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I think the strongest argument for going without Bruno from the get-go is captaincy. Pool’s opening fixtures are very good, so going with Salah over Bruno instead of “as well as” is a very valid strategy.

      1. Andy_Social
        • 11 Years

True that. Specifically, in the one week (GW3 v Chelsea) you need someone other than Salah, Son has a great fixture.
And in the meantime, Robbo should blow any 4.5 away.

      2. Aubamazette
        • 9 Years

And the consensus seems to be most people wont be captaining Bruno much in the opening weeks so i think going without is very much valid

I like Son over Bruno but wouldn't spend it on Robbo. I don't like Liverpool double up this season. Lots of good value defenders.

How comes, Liverpool's fixtures very good at the start, personally Digne im not too keen fixtures are not as easy as fdr suggests imo, apart from him no one else stands out until gw7 where I would get a 5.5 Chelsea defender over robbo

Not necessarily disagreeing, but people believe they can pick the 4.5 defender who will score more like 4.0 ppg (maybe more over a favourable run of fixtures).
