The deadline for Gameweek 8 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is almost upon us – and we’ve got everything you need to help you with your transfers and captaincy decisions on this page.

Whether you’re playing a Wildcard or otherwise, you’ll find plenty of advice on your transfer dilemmas and armband conundrums on this page.

There are also team reveals, Members’ articles and videos in this comprehensive guide to the upcoming Gameweek.

Our usual deadline-day Breakfast Club video, which features Mark Sutherns, can be viewed from 10.30am BST below:

All of these pieces preceded the Friday-night announcement from Spurs that two of their players had tested positive for Covid-19, with The Times suggesting that Son Heung-min (£10.1m) wouldn’t be involved in the Lilywhites’ clash with Newcastle on Sunday. We should stress, of course, that this remains only media and internet speculation and we’ve yet to have any concrete proof on the FPL assets affected.

So my bet is Arsenal def and goalie, to cover Brighton and Chelsea def. Had Rudiger but no Trent so kind of had to choose and Trent is boring and long term, Livra to the rescue vs Burnley next week.. Could have gone different but Livra have 2 home games vs Leeds without Bam and possibly Raphinha and Burnley so decided that he is so playable that i left all my thinkering

Paying 7.5 for a Liverpool striker listed as midfielder even with the Odd benching is good reason to have. People think he share time with Firmino, that is just partly being the case as he will share them with Mane and to a lesser extent Salah, in a rotation system. Just check last season when all four fit.

Early days of course but I’m contemplating a hit for next week.

Downgrading Ronaldo (Vardy, Jesus, Werner and Armstrong all under consideration) and upgrading Sanchez or Steele to Ederson.

I know premium keepers aren’t that popular on here but feels like it could pay off? I’m even considering upgrading Steele so Sanchez can cover.

Way more than I’d usually spend on keepers but just throwing it out there! Thoughts?

This is what I’ve got to work with:
    1FT 0.0ITB
    Sanchez
    TAA Cancelo Rudiger
    Salah Raphinha Gray Gallagher ESR
    Lukaku Ronaldo

    Steele Livramento Marcal Street

    Cheers

I agree with LTFPL on premium keepers: the problem is as soon as I need some cash from somewhere, I'm going to be looking at my keeper and thinking I could save ~1.5m. But nobody wants to be spending transfers on their GK because the upside is so low.

And for only 0.2m more you can get a Dias or a Cancelo who can chip in with attacking returns and bonus.

Those are the logical reasons not to. You’re right. I’m maybe trying to go against the grain a bit too much after a disastrous few weeks post-wildcard, loads of injuries etc.

Just stick it out with Sanchez with those tough fixtures maybe. It’s just long term I thought there might be a benefit. Could point on Dias etc. Cheers!

We have very similar teams, I have 1.3 ITB, I want to upgrade Sissoko to Mbeumo or Doucoure though as my players keep missing out so want good depth. Not keen on Ederson, rarely scores over 6 points.

      Sanchez
      TAA Cancelo Rudiger White
      Salah Raphina Gallagher ESR
      Ronaldo Lukaku

Yeah, I’m looking to improve my depth too. The Ronaldo / Lukaku wildcard just hasn’t worked and I’ve been ravaged by injuries.

Thinking of using remaining Ronaldo money on upgrading Street to Toney in GW10.

Take your point on Ederson too. Will you just hold tight with Sanchez for the tough fixtures?

Yeah the Ronaldo/Lukaku wildcard has ended my season and mini leagues! Had Jota Torres and Greenwood on mine too plus like you at least one injury a week. Unfortunately i think Gallagher and Cancelo are at risk of being benched this week too.

I'm going to stick with the Ron Rom strike force now and yeah ill probably stick with Sanchez as after Liverpool he has decent fixtures and no other keeps really appeal other than Raya maybe.

all we really need now to justify our WC picks is for Rapha to be benched, Son to be in isolation and Azpil & Cancelo to start … the rest is mere puff

I brought in Mbeumo this week vs us (and already have Toney). Feel filthy.

However, this was a longer term move. Don't necessarily see it paying off this week - but our defense is potentially at our most vulnerable with two main CBs missing out.

It's nice but it has a lot of my players so I'm worried for him, don't see why Saka is worth 1m more than ESR?
