Spurs v Leeds team news: Gelhardt starts as Raphinha and Rodrigo miss out

Sunday’s Premier League action continues in north London as Tottenham Hotspur host Leeds United.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

Antonio Conte makes two changes to his starting XI, with Japhet Tanganga (£4.3m) and Harry Winks (£4.4m) coming in for Cristian Romero (£4.9m) and Oliver Skipp (£4.5m), who miss out through injury and suspension respectively.

Harry Kane (£12.2m), fresh from scoring seven goals in two games for England, leads the line and will be flanked by Son Heung-min (£10.4m) and Lucas Moura (£6.4m) in a 3-4-3 formation.

For Leeds, Raphinha (£6.7m) is ill and Rodrigo (£6.3m) has a minor foot injury. As a result, Joe Gelhardt (£4.5m) makes his first Premier League start, while Mateusz Klich (£5.4m) will be deployed in the more advanced midfield role.

Patrick Bamford (£7.7m), Luke Ayling (£4.3m), Jamie Shackleton (£4.5m) and Robin Koch (£4.3m) all remain out.

Playing no striker against 3 CBs seems to be the way to go

Well at least when Tottenham play bad we know now that is has to be the players fault.

Brought in Son and Wilson for Benrahma and Vardy which means I benched Rudiger, it's just relentless.

This is what I've been saying for so long, if the team is rubbish there's only so much a new manager can do, same thing will happen with United especially if they bring in Rodgers.

Or more specifically, what is Carrick going to be able to do in 7 days?

Dropping the defensive line 5-7 yards deeper would make a significant difference and is easy to implement.

People actually spent 10-12m on attackers from the 2nd worst attack in the league

Is the community playing anti-FPL? 😆

Son is in the second worst attack in the league but he is one of the best wingers in the world, who scored 200+ points last season and was in phenomenal form at the start of the season, it is logical to think that he will start to score points.

Err no because they weren't the 2nd worst attack in the league last season. So why talk about last season? Bruno essential too then?

Stats aren't permanent, Conte is a world class manager with time their attacking stats will improve, and that will lead to more FPL points.

Then you should bring them in when that happens. Admit you took a hail-mary gamble on the 2nd worst attack and it backfired. They were absolutely Everton's equal last GW, so the hype was bizarre

Isn't the trick to this game to jump on players before they explode though? Obviously it isn't always going to work and people at the top get a certain amount of luck but you can't decry that entire methodology.

              1. Cok3y5murf
                • 7 Years
                2 years, 5 months ago

That methodology still relies on some kind of evidence shown to take that gamble. Hence why I emphasized that they were the 2nd worst attack in the league. They had not shown anything to think otherwise. There are 18 other attacks in the league, so why choose to target Spurs

Well people have based methodology on historical precedent so in Conte and Kane you can assume some improvement. I mean ultimately in my case I brought in Kane for Antonio as Kane is the kind of player that could explode with the intls giving him some confidence and there was no other strikers really hitting form.

Why didn't Reguilon pass to Royal in the most straight forward you can ever see/think of? I look at these spurs players and just feel like they are a bunch of very average players who Conte will have a huge work to turn things around with.

They should not get 4th with a midfield of Fred and McTominay, not to mention their defence, they could but only because Arsenal and Spurs are so average and West Ham don't have the squad. One win and they are exactly where they should be.
