Leeds v Aston Villa team news: Rodrigo returns, Bamford a sub

In the final Premier League match of the day, Leeds United host Aston Villa at Elland Road.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

Jesse Marsch makes three changes from the side that lost 5-2 at Brentford in Gameweek 8, as Liam Cooper, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo all start.

The latter returns after a shoulder injury, having scored four goals in the first five Gameweeks.

Patrick Bamford, meanwhile, is among the substitutes.

As for the visitors, Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara, Matty Cash and Lucas Digne are all out, which does leave the Villans somewhat short at the back.

That means Ludwig Augustinsson is handed a debut, while Douglas Luiz will screen the back four.

Budget midfielder Leon Bailey also starts alongside Philippe Coutinho and Ollie Watkins in attack.

GAMEWEEK 9 LINE-UPS

Leeds United XI: Meslier, Kristensen, Koch, Cooper, Struijk, Adams, Roca, Sinisterra, Aaronson, Harrison, Rodrigo

Subs: Klaesson, Ayling, Firpo, Llorente, Gnonto, Summerville, Klich, Bamford, Greenwood

Aston Villa XI: Martinez, Young, Konsa, Mings, Augustinsson, Luiz, Ramsey, McGinn, Bailey, Coutinho, Watkins

Subs: Olson, Bednarek, Archer, Sanson, Buendia, Bogarde, Nakamba, Dendoncker, Ings

Haaland Foden

15 If he will be healthy whole year he should get over 40 goals 15 assist tally. Uncharted territory even for Henry, Ronaldo, Suarez and Salah. With KdB,Foden Bernardo Silva around him he is absolutely unplayable.

Has to be high enough to tempt a few players to spread the funds and rely on Salah (C) if he gets back to his old ways. 14m probs or maybe 14.5

Not a good thing to say but if tomorrow he:
      - stabs his toe
      - gets a mild cold
      - parties tonight with prostitutes and drugs and blacks out for a few days

I wouldn't be mad at him, cause guess who my vice-cap is

Same position as you mate. What's more likely?

        A) he scores a hattie
        B) he gets sick / injured before kick off

Probably B but unfortunately not much chance of either. A goal and an assist would reverse some of the damage. I'd probably take that.

Need to get on the Martial hype train. Which way?

    Pope
    Cancelo, James, Trippier, Zouma
    KdB, Bowen, Maddison, Martinelli
    Haaland, Mitro

    Iversen, Pereira, Williams, Isak
    2FT, 0.2 ITB

    A - Isak -> Martial
B - Isak, Mitrovich, KdB -> Martial, Kane, Foden (-4) - exact money
C - Isak, Mitrovich, KdB -> Martial, Jesus, Foden (-4)

Debating this myself whether Cancelo is worth the 7m..the thing is not many defenders are performing well anyway and with City you know they will get a clean sheet like every second game or there abouts

      1. banskt
        • 10 Years

7m for the clean sheets is a bit too much for my liking. Dias, Walker, Laporte or Ederson should be fine. Granted you will miss a game here or there but that's where your bench players come in.

70 points and still a red arrow. Haaland (c) doesn't count any more. We have to start looking at points without Haaland (c). So, its basically 24 points from the rest. 2 to play.

I think next season FPL should introduce a new rule that you can only captain someone for a certain amount of games e.g. 19

This season is getting a little boring.

    Any thoughts on the idea?

Don't like this. I think it would create more uniformity amongst the content followers. Everyone playing it safe with the same two alternate captain choices, and even fewer places to experiment with in your team.

New idea: I think the chips available to you could be randomised, which forces the individual to make their own decisions for their own teams...

Say, every 6 weeks you get given a FH, WC or BB and a variable number of FTs, like 6-12. Over the course of the season everyone gets the same number of FTs and each chip. On the final GW, everyone gets unlimited transfers. Crazy but fun 😀

Nah should just a be a case of captaining the player you think will get the most points and not having to worry about not doing that. There are 10 other players on the pitch to focus on and there are still going to be times when differential captains are viable (e.g. Kane / Salah). Shouldn't be a new rule just because one player is doing particularly well

You need to really choose specific games to go against Haaland

Last week i did it with Son (C) and was this week is a completely different ball game

United are below midtable on xGc and Leicester are almost bottom on xG

It was not one of those type of go against Haaland weeks

Those have to be very specific - maybe none now again until week 12

        • 2 Years

Aye, I did the same with Son and it worked out.

Couldn't bring myself to cap him against United (who I support) so it's just one of them I suppose.

Appreciate the Maddy C was a little reckless I'm hindsight. I'll be capping Haaland next gameweek anyway.

At this rate of 3 hattrick every 8 games, Haaland will score around 12 hattricks -- that's as many Kun scored in the PL in his career.

      There will be regression.

Scored 73 points and still a huge red arrow. 300k 》》500k. Looks like a huge % around that rank captained Haaland.

Haaland is on 96pts after 8 games. Averaging 12 ppg. Unreal.

Looking at Bowen as a FT with his fixtures

Have Sinisterra and Martinez. Probably need an early Sini goal to get over the loss of CS
