Watchlist

The FPL Watchlist: Salah, Isak + Shaw among the risers

The Watchlist takes a medium-term look at the more desirable Fantasy Premier League (FPL) transfer targets, rather than concentrating on just the upcoming Gameweek as the Scout Picks does.

We’ve recently had our weekly refresh, with the main changes explained below.

There’s a bigger caveat than usual about the list, as we’ve yet to hear any of the pre-match press conferences and there was a wave of flags added in FPL over the international break.

Nick Pope (£5.4m), Marcus Rashford (£7.3m) and Erling Haaland (£12.0m) are among the players featured in this piece who are marked down as ‘75% doubts’ and we’ll of course revisit their standings on Friday evening if it turns out that their respective knocks and niggles are set to lead to absences of any significant duration.

ABOUT THE WATCHLIST

FPL friendlies round-up: Odegaard and Doherty looking sharp as White returns 1

We typically concentrate on a four-to-six-Gameweek lookahead when compiling the Watchlist but it’d be remiss not to be thinking about what lies just beyond that hill, as Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs still have at least one more Double Gameweek to come after Gameweek 34.

Players are selected and ranked according to factors such as form, club injuries, forthcoming fixtures, Rate My Team’s points projections and whether or not the player in question is likely to be a bargain in FPL.

Arrows before the name indicate whether a player has climbed or fallen in our reckoning since the previous update or if they are a new entry into the tables.

We typically toe the line with FPL’s definition of ‘form’ (average points accrued in matches played over the last 30 days) but here we’ve incorporated Gameweek 25 onwards.

The key for the factors you’ll see in the below tables is as follows:

THE WATCHLIST: BEST FPL GOALKEEPERS

Do not you think that Man Utd is already demotivated in PL after 0-7 and Salah might be better option than Bruno going forward?

Apart from when he’s not, like his last game week score of zero.

    A) Martinelli —> Bruno
    B) Saka —> Bruno (leaves change for Toney/Watkins —> Haaland for GW30, as opposed to option A)
    C) Zinchenko —> Shaw

Silly question probably but seeing ppl say odegaard price might drop 2night. I purchased him at 6.4m, and my selling price is 6.6m. So if his current price drops from 6.9 to 6.8 does that mean my selling price will drop as well to 6.5m?

See that's what RMT says but I don't really understand the underlying reasons. Seems to me that Maddison looks great on the eye test, but hasn't actually scored in ages and havertz is on better form than felix (though I appreciate injury doubt).

So I'd be really interested in your thought process on those picks?

Defensively, Brentford and Arsenal are better away from home. For Brentford, this includes playing Man City and Arsenal in their last 6 away games. Looking at the last 4 away games for them (excluding Man City and West Ham games), Brentford actually ranks second with an xGC ever 108.1 mins.

    Mins per expected goal conceded:

    Last SIX away games
    NEW 110.7
    ARS 99.7
    BRE 90.3
    MCI 78.6

    Last SIX home games
    MCI 157.5
    NEW 99.8
    ...
    BRE 80.1
    ARS 77.3

With this in mind, it seems a clean sheet isn't a bad bet for Brentford's double away fixtures vs Brighton and Man Utd. My GW29 team has always had Henry in the XI over Saka and Odegaard. Anyone considering benching or buying a Brentford defender?

Are there any reasons to think they might struggle more this GW than in the past 4 or 6? Other factors to consider?

And Is it foolhardy for me to bench Saka for Henry?

    Cheers! 🙂

    1. Arteta
      • 8 Years

Never bench Saka. He would be my captain, if all the players had a normal gameweek.

Leeds will be weakened and without their three usual starters (Wober, Adams, Gnonto). Selling or benching Arsenal assets this week is riskier than some people would like to admit.

        2. Arteta
          • 8 Years

I just checked your current team. I would start Henry/Saka and bench Botman/Felix (one of the strikers).

            • 8 Years

Botman's another option to bench, yeah, but benching Felix with double home games doesn't dit right with me tbh

        • 8 Years

I resent that! It wasn't a question for me when I set my team up before the IB: Henry was my pick to start, and the Arsenal SGWers were to be benched. I planned it that way for some time. Now I've looked into the data, it seems to be backing up the Henry pick. You're not trying hard enough, Panda! No wonder you're going extinct.

Don't think they will concede many but hard to see them keeping a CS

Rico Henry is appealing as a wing back but benching Saka is hard.

Even Odegaard who I will likely bench/sell can see him netting double digits this week

Your team is good to go already
Rather than burn a FT I would sell Kane for a doubler. Pivot to haaland after
Isak or Ings for the short term?

    Current BB squad:
    Raya, Ward
    Trippier, Henry, Chillwell, Shaw, Zinchenko
Rashford, Martinelli, March, Mitoma (C), Saka
    Toney, Kane, Watkins

    1FT

Do I do Ward and Martinelli to...:

    A) Steele and Bruno for a -4.
    B) Kepa/Iversen and Macalister for -4 (Brighton mid triple up)
