Anderson is my 4.5m mid atm. Hope he gets some minutes when the season starts.

And Mubama's my benchie forward. Moysie talked him up a few weeks ago.

Spuds are definitely not one for the clean sheets!

He won't start many/any games unfortunately - but will make a few sub appearances.

Not even that. For me, he's last bench, low enough owned not to get a price drop.

Should get regular 1 pointers with 5 subs per game. Can play across the front 3 or at number 8 for Newcastle in a season where the squad will be stretched, so looks a decent 2nd or 3rd bench option.

    Hi everyone,

Just popped on here to quickly plug my new H2H League - The Matchplay.

One division with unlimited numbers. 38 fixtures for everyone. Luck of the draw will determine your weekly opponent. So highly unpredictable to say the least. Thought I would create a H2H as there are far fewer of those around than the Classic scoring variety. Code is k7hzh6

Thanks alot if you choose to join.

Thanks for joining. Makes the effort of setting up and promoting the venture all worthwhile.

Thought that setting it up as a H2H League might attract some interest and it is proving quite popular so far. Luck is bound to play a big part given the opponents for each team will vary, but that’s all part of the fun.

Gusto is only an option if (when) James gets injured for an extended period. We'll have fewer matches this year, so James would need to be out for a bit to be truly worth it,

It’s the same as Klassen. Came to Everton as Ajax captain but just couldn’t hack it in England. The Dutch league is not a good feeder imo. I remember watching an Ajax game a couple of seasons back, scouting some transfer rumour or other and was shocked at how the game was played. I’m sure there’s examples of successes but it’s a big gamble to assume they’ll slit straight in.

And at 29.5% ownership Areola could be a price drop waiting to happen. I would only have Areola along with Fabianski. Otherwise go for Flekken, Leno or Pickford and their 4.0 backup.

Owing to the missing fixture, some changes afoot:

    GW 1:

    Something old, something new,
    Something borrowed, something blue,
A silver sixpence in the boot.

    Leno
    Estupiñan, White, Mee
    Saka(vc), Martinelli, Mitoma, Mac Allister
    Haaland(c), Kane, Eduoard

    Areola; Mbuemo, Guéhi, Holgate … F/T: 0/0, 0.0 ITB, TV: 100.0

Go clarify, Guehi, Torres, Tarkowski, Pinnock are all pretty much equal and should be chosen based on fixtures.

Colwill and Botman are slightly more fixture proof.

I'm cooling on Cash since Tom's article (suggesting Konsa RB) & talk of Carlos RB... Almost impossible to answer Villa defence questions at the moment though so we have to see preseason lineups.

I guess I trust our Brentford superfan on Pinnock's nailedness, in which case I slightly prefer him to Henry due to set piece prowess

Carlos is 30yrs old and has never played RB in his career.

Konsa is an outside shot but surely Cash is miles ahead.

          1. Emery just doesn't seem to trust Cash (yet?). Played Young ahead of him.
          2. Suggestions of Moreno being so attacking that Villa will often line up as a back 3 and therefore don't need Cash's attacking qualities and maybe a right footed CB is appropriate

      3. Nate(U)dog(ie)

Interesting, will need to see this. Although I'd be surprised at it. After a few ill-fated experiments with Cash (including at RM), he ended the season very well. Young had actually been very impressive in the games I had seen before Cash took the spot back (particular v Spurs) so I can only think that Emery had to be very happy with Cash to not want to keep him, while needing a backup plan if he's out / needs a rest which is probably where Konsa/Carlos comes in

Suggestion was Konsa would play a role like Foyth at Villareal, making a back 3 in possession with Moreno bombing forward. I'm really keen on Moreno this season

He had surgery after a hamstring injury (end of May I think). Don't really know exactly when he's meant to be back but I expect I'd be looking at him on WC(5/7?)

He was one of my few good calls towards the end of last year. Would be hesitant on him early on though given the injury /surgery he's returning from though. I'd imagine Emery will have to be very careful with him. Villa also have a very capable deputy in Digne to him too

Foden has played very, very little at RW over the years, and he came on in central midfield in the CL final. Given Gundogan leaving and KDB getting on a bit, I think he might be more likely to move there than RW

I'd prefer him in a central role, too. When City dominate possession (i.e. almost all games) their wide forwards are usually on the bylines, and their CAMs tend to get the better chances.

Yeah you just have to look at how Gundogan, KDB and the likes of Bernardo do when they're central. Even Rodri picks up a handy 8-12 or so returns despite his general defensive focus

          1. Lovren an elevator
            • 9 Years
            10 months, 17 days ago

Season before last, Rodri was picking up mainly headers from set pieces, but you're still right (e.g. CL final) and I especially think Foden will tick a long with a healthy amount of returns, playing CAM

      2. Lovren an elevator
        • 9 Years

This. I see Alvarez or a new signing playing RWF. Even though Alvarez replied KDB a few times last season, I think he's far more suited to CF or RWF. Foden surely playing a load more minutes this season than how he finished last.

Foden was one of the few players on the right wing to completely outplay big Dan Burn.
