All set for these moves in GW18 baring any midweek injuries

Nakamba + Darwin to Bowen + Solanke (-4)

    gives me

    Dubravka
    Porro, Lascelles, Tsimikas
    Salah, Son, Saka, Palmer, Bowen
    Watkins(c), Solanke

    Areola, Saliba, Branthwaite, Alvarez

I could just play Darwin instead of taking the hit, but I think I'll be much happier when he is out of the team

    Good moves or nah?

    Afternoon all,

    What do you prefer here:
    A) Maguire > gusto (can’t afford colwill and then do Darwin > haaland for free next week)
    B) roll

    Current team
    Dubravka
    Porro / zinchenko / cash
    Salah / son / Saka / palmer / Gordon
    Darwin / Watkins

    Areola / archer / tsimikas / Maguire

I've started checking the T& C's of these games
        The Sun quite clearly states
"If any Eligible Match is abandoned for any reason then that Eligible Match will cease to be treated as an Eligible Match for the purposes of the Game. If the match is replayed then the replay will be treated as an Eligible Match."
I can't believe that FPL didn't already have something in place for this scenario .
Although abandoned games are quite rare there are multiple ways in which they can happen .

Sky, Fanteam and Bet365 all take bets on their games in conjunction with their fantasy games.

So this tracks with what they did with the betting on their sites, paid out on any bets in the 60 mins played i.e. goals scored and voided anything that takes longer i.e. the result.

The problem is the greedy Premier League want to replay a game that was two thirds over so they can get more money.

It isn't just the league. Both clubs will want to replay the game. For Bournemouth, it is a good home fixture and more gate and pie money. For Luton, it is a game against a lower half team that they will think they have a chance of getting something from. Maybe they'd think a point is OK but maybe not. It is clearer for Bournemouth though, definitely.

Whatever happens hopefully a win in a replayed game won't affect either's relegation when a draw would have kept both of them up.

              Who knows with PL.

If they decide that Saturdays scoreline is a result and both teams eventually stay up, happy days.

If one team gets 3 points in a replayed game and loser is relegated it'd be unfortunate if a draw in original game would have kept them up.

    2. Wild Rover
      • 13 Years

And then what happens when they replay it? No way can you give points for a game that will likely be replayed.

    3. Arteta
      • 8 Years
      6 months, 1 day ago

Why? An average Premier League match can last between 90 and 105 minutes nowadays.

        1. Salan
          • 14 Years
          6 months, 1 day ago

It doesn't make sense at all. It may be replayed, but restarted from when it stopped/suspended.

If it's not 1:1, but 5:0, do still many think this should be replayed in full? Scores should not affect the arrangement.

    4. No Professionals
      • 6 Years
      6 months, 1 day ago

      Only scenarios are...

      A) Game restarts from 65 mins, current points stand and added to dependent on outcome.
      B) Game is replayed in full, current points voided.

Don't see how any other option is possible. No chance Solanke's goal stands and game is replayed in full.

(I have Gordon first bench so probably a bit less bothered than others).

Are those really the only scenarios? A lot of people do head-to-head things and want to wrap up the week. I could imagine a scenario where these points are awarded as if this was a game. And then if they reschedule FPL just treats it like another game. Not saying that'll happen but is that impossible?

Not really, because everyone selling Salah or Son has money to get him when they go to play in comps. So, he'll be widely selected (if back) just due to that.

for sure initially. theres so few gws in January though, beyond like gw 22 it'll be interesting, and hopefully kdb has the match sharpness/fitness he needs by then. will become a trade-off between salah/son/saka/kdb. would be ideal if taa/trippier keep doing what they are doing and maintain 5 ppg as well. template is becoming too strong right now, gordon and palmer the main culprits.

Would you do Hwang to Bailey or roll FT? SHU & BUR in the next 3 feels like a chance to load up on Villa. Bailey is a minutes risk of course

    1. F4L
      • 9 Years

villa have decent rest time between games, and he was rested yesterday. seems abit like a luxury use of a FT though given like you say bailey even starting might only be good for 180-200 minutes across the 3 matches.

My issue with him is he’s not nailed- not necessarily rest times. I feel like he is preferred to Diaby at the moment because of his output & impact. Form is better. Just that emery seems to be going easy on him minutes wise

Depends on Isak mins in the cup tomorrow. Howe's quite was faintly reassuring, perhaps enough to try hang on for one or two starts, especially if you already have Watkins (or get him by selling Darwin).

Darwin has to go I think. Maybe Foden too depending on team structure / if you want to wait & hope for DGW soon

I set up a no Haaland account this season to have a bit of fun with captain picks, to sit alongside my main account which I invest a fair amount of time in. My main account is 850k, my no Haaland account which I spend about 5mins a week on is 50k!

    This game man.

      Cool cheating, bro

Can I have more than one team?

In the interest of fair play each person may only enter one team. You may enter this team in multiple leagues and compete against different groups of friends.

It's partially because you can take risks in the blink of an eye.

Having thought it all through for your proper team.

I'm in another fpl tournament that's not FPL and I'm doing better with no Salah...

Although life took over waiting for Spurs team news on Friday and i even left captain on Haaland with Cunha vc.

There's cash prizes in that and I think I've recouped £10 against my outlay of 2 years of FFS subs.

Almost breaking evens in FPL land!

It is a bit shocking that we don't seem to have any clear rules for how to deal with the Bournemouth game.

This is crazy. More than 10mio. users wasting hours every week to get the most out of this game and then we find out we are trapped in the shades of grey without clear rules and lots of ambiguity.

I mean we survived Covid and the Queen's funeral. But still, this now is rather slapstick than a fair game.

Interesting to me that the last time this happened to Lockyear they finished the match with him being unresponsive. But this time around, with him BEING RESPONSIVE, they suspended it. This is going to get some hate but feels like Luton did it because momentum was swinging in Bournemouth's favor, and they knew Bournemouth weren't going to put up any resistance.

When Christian Eriksen suffered his cardiac arrest towards the end of the first half in the 2021 World Cup match between Denmark and Finland, the players were taken off the field but agreed to resume the match only after hearing that he was awake in hospital. Finland went on to win the match 1-0.

Fabrice Muamba collapsed during an FA Cup match between Bolton and Spurs in 2012 and was effectively dead for 78 minutes before revived. The match was abandoned by the referee, and Bolton's next match was also postponed at the club's request. He had to retire from professional football after that based on the recommendation of his medical team, but married his fiancee later that year and they now have four children. He has sent a message of support to Tom Lockyer.

it's a fair point and question
I remember watching (and hearing) the Raul skull fracture which was scary. After a long pause the game continued albeit a bit subdued

I guess in the moment when the ref offered the abandonment it seemed the right thing to do.
How the ref asked, how much prior thought the managers had put into it, how worried they were for lockyer could all factor in.
Similar situations objectively could be very different subjectively

It's funny how majority of people these days can't take what's been said but have to make it into something else.

              You've said;
Last time he was non-responsive (thus potentially more serious) but they played on.
This time he was responsive (thus potentially less serious) but they suspended play.

You're then saying there is potential that this is because Bournemouth were on the up. It does beg the question why did they continue in a game where he was potentially worse off with bigger risks at stake (promotion to the PL) as opposed to this game where there was less at stake (3 points).
