Kdb benched yesterday. Guess it will be benching for Foden and Alvarez one match each in the double?

Not necessarily. Could still be protecting KDB. 3-4 days recovery may impact his mins

Talk Sport guy asked Pep about rotation yesterday. He clearly said it isn't rotating it's picking the best players depending on the opposition and he said KDB will start from the bench at times due to his impact when coming on. Probably avoid

I’m not sure I believe that. KDB seems to always make City better and I’d play him every match if he hadn’t been coming back from injury and he could manage it. In particular I think Haaland is better with KDB.

However, it is part of Pep’s unpredictability and we’ll need to be prepared for every player bar Ederson and Haaland (and maybe Rodri) being benched

That TAA news really shafts me. I was going to sell one of Porro / Udogie who don't double but do blank, but now I have to deal with Trent instead. Another tedious development in a horror of a season...

        Saka, KDB, Bowen, Palmer (Andreas)

For the upcoming double, this is my team.. debating TC haaland, or maybe even bench boost?

    Areola
    Doughty - Gabriel - Estup - Porro
    KDB - Saka - Jota - Foden
    Haaland - Watkins

    Dubravka - Botman - Adebayo - Palmer

Anyone else considering Alvarez in the double? Can see rests for KDB, potentially Foden and with UCL on the horizon I reckon lots of minutes for Alvarez in the PL games….plus no blank to worry about!

Don't buy don't sell imo. Likely to get decent mins but his FPL appeal has definitely reduced with haaland back

My plan was to sell Solanke to bring back in 27/28.

I don’t have Darwin but just concerned about replacing Solanke with a blank GW26 player.

Can’t see Solanke returning much over the next 2, and rest of team looking ok at the moment, hence weighing up short term Alvarez move.

With Haaland & KDB back, he's now basically a midfielder who only gets 4 points for a goal instead of 5 and no clean sheet points. There's a few better options than him for the third forwards spot.

That's just a small sample of FFS members though. I wonder who the other 65% (less those who have already played it) are waiting for. Surely those TCing Solanke in DGW28 aren't going to outnumber Haaland in DGW26.

        It'll be over 200% I reckon. Closer to 250!

I think EO will be above 200, it was already 150 this week.

I'm not sure of all the possibilities, but 37 is the most likely, right? Assuming they progress in FA Cup and their GW29 fixture moves there.

That would give them two away fixtures
          bha
          ful
Two away fixtures that are not the hardest (and could be a cricket score against Brighton), but 25 seems as good as any to TC Haaland - he's back to form and two plum home games against teams who can't defend.

I might have this wrong. Could be that 29 is moved elsewhere and 34 is moved to 37 (I think I read 34 is likely to have doubles for some teams and blanks for FA cup). Need to check Crellin's spreadsheet.

Trippier (1, 7, 9, 4) to TAA (0, 1, 1, 4) is not the end of the world, and I went through worse point differences in the past.
It just frustrates me that Trent returned in 10 out of 11 matches before I made the move.

Yup double is not ideal but at 4.4m, on corners, doubles in 25 and plays in blank 26&29 then he is high on my list as a Trent replacement

          1. Art Vandelay
            • 13 Years
            3 months, 27 days ago

Yep, certainly very useful for the two BGWs. Realisticaly though, I am not sure I would play him ahead of Porro in the DGW, so might consider bringing him in in BGW26 with more information. It really all comes down to news on Trent - If I sense he will start one then I think I will just keep.

            1. Tonyawesome69
              • 5 Years

Tbh I would roll the dice on Reguilon over Porro. Porro FPL appeal has dropped imo, not as attacking as previously.

I do agree I won't be making any moves until I get as much info as possible before the deadline

It is so tricky, because I assume you will need them in BGW26 too?As such, they really need to start three games in a row, and with CL chucked in there, it is far from certain.

A: Rich and Palmer to Jota and McAttee
    B: R & P to Díaz and Barkley
C: TAA and Rich to VVD and Jota

A allows 11 for BGW with Darwin to Solanke

Yes, I haven’t made an early transfer all season and it’s served me pretty well so I’m not comfortable about this. My gut feeling is he might get minutes in each game and that’s worth keeping him for - it’s an ongoing issue so presumably it’s something he’s managing- but if we find out later in the week he’s out for a period, keeping him will look a bit dim.

Quite content to have 7 "doublers" (if they actually feature twice. I wonder if this fabled double game week will turn into a damp squib.

    NOT USING TRIPLE CAPTAIN

    FLEKKEN
    Gabriel - DOUGHTY - WALKER
    Saka - FODEN - JOTA - Garnacho
    HAALAND (c) - DARWIN - Watkins

    Areola - Porro - Estupinan - Palmer

BB for a bigger double game week later. I don't really want to bench boost single players.
TC I just don't fancy it in addition to having a big lead in my mini leagues. Those chasing me can play it, I'll save. I'll stick it on Salah probably later on. Solanke GW28 for two home games v bottom of the table opposition is also enticing.
More about my mini leagues than overall rank.

If the situation with Trent stays the same, would you do:
    A) TAA to Gabriel/ Pau
    B) TAA, Pedro to Reguilon, Toney (-4)

    Flekken
    TAA Doughty Saliba
    KDB Foden Jota Rich Palmer

A looks like the safe option (I’d normally say Gabriel although I don’t like doubling up so Pau).

B relies on Toney being in his old relentless form as his fixtures aren’t great (and Reg probably doesn’t get on the pitch this week?) but looks the more exciting option

I’d think there’s a good chance of losing points by playing Reg over Saliba or Estu given their opponents. (For what it’s worth, this is reflected in the RMT scores).

I would probably play him anyway as it seems a waste to have playing DGW player on the bench but absolutely no guarantee that works

Probably unlikely but you never know. Certainly not an ideal fixture for him

Folks considering City defender, I don't see how there is a defender you can comfortably pick when Pep hasn't nailed a specific defence setup and has most of his defenders back for selection.

    LB - Gvardiol Akanji Ake
    LCB - Ake Akanji
    RCB - Dias Stones
    RB - Walker Stones Lewis

    B) Robertson
    C) VVD

      VVD

Robbo/Tsimikas and Gomez/Bradley could easily share mins over the double before cup final. VVD has the higher xMins imo

VVD is a very expensive 4pt option for the blank imo.

But he could easily enough score from a corner.

Relying on goals from a set piece. I think both Brentford and Luton aren't great at defending set pieces, could be wrong. Hopefully a paying FFS member can provide more info here

Luton and Brentford are both big physical teams who rely heavily on set pieces for attacking phases. Wouldn’t imagine it was a particularly good match up for VvD attacking returns personally - but no data to back that up.

Can do, Tone. Brentford are pretty decent as I thought - 65 chances conceded from set pieces is the 5th lowest. Luton 104, 5th highest. You'd think Luton have the physical attributes to do better but I remember in the Newcastle game they were constantly looking over to the dugout for guidance/organisation

Cheers TM, interesting info. Brentford defence is actually decent looking at underlying data. I think they are 5th best for xGC this season.

I think I would still go for the comfort blanket of high xMins compared to other Liverpool options

Who would you deem as important to have for GW26?
I am not going to be able to field 11 without hits so if I just have the important ones I am hoping to be OK.

    1. Tonyawesome69

Man city attackers, Watkins and maybe Wolves attackers

Depends on chip strategy I guess. Might swerve Wolves myself as would rather load up on players that play in GW29 - so Bowen is high in my thoughts.

If TAA is out, how does this plan look like?

    GW25: TAA + Richarlison to Reguilon + Diaz (-4)
GW26: Diaz + Nunez + Gusto to Saka + Watkins + Moreno (-8) to field XI players
    GW27: Alvarez to Solanke (1FT)
GW28: KDB to Richarlison (1FT) or make this move next GW
BGW29: Save FT (Will have 6 players) or do Haaland to Toney for -4 and field 7 players
    GW30: Reguilon + Solanke/Toney to TAA + Haaland (-4)
    GW31: Solanke/Toney to Alvarez (1FT)

& additional DGW & BGW coming need to have a backup plan

    Bench faces Bou or Sheff

Will wait but Trent is probably gone 8.6m injury waiting to happen.

    Fleken
    Porro, Saliba, ##Trent
    Saka, Palmer, Jota, KDB,
    Watkins, Darwin, Haaland

    Dubravka, Gordon, Burn, Van Heke

Problem is the blank and transfering a gw26 blank player for another one is one less for 26 and one less transfer for gw29. So it depends on your chip strategy I guess

      1. EffPeeEll
        • 4 Years

agreed. gw29 is still ages away though and the fixtures could be pants.
like you say though it depends on strategies particulalry with the use of chips.

With the uncertainty over Trent positive news that Salah is back to start against Brentford could be interesting.

It's the early kick off tho and the Cup Final and blank does complicate matters.

Would you switch around to Salah with 2 FTs?

      I wouldn't. Klopp's quote:
"We hope, but we don’t know, that he will be a part of parts of training next week but we have to see" doesn't sound too promising to me. My guess is maybe just a cameo v Luton

Probably helps then if he's not back soon.

Even with the Trent funds and I have to switch some like Foden to him and end up with a £3.8m last sub defender.

I guess Watkins has to go too but it might be better to have a different defender over Trent and forget about the double, or just roll with him... If he's reported available.

I can't see how he goes from grade 2 torn hamstring and individual training programme to starting in 6 days time.

Have a look players like Olise that have came back from a hamstring injury and end up with a re-injury
