A disappointing Saturday could still end with a bang and a flood of goals at points at Anfield, as Liverpool host Newcastle United.
At least that is what the 1.5 million managers who have captained Mohamed Salah will be expecting, having seen Harry Kane muster just an assist in Spurs’ victory over Huddersfield.
Salah is the top captain pick for a third successive Gameweek and has surpassed Kane’s tally in each of the last four Gameweeks, scoring 46 points to 18. He has every opportunity to extend that run and also edge ahead in the race for the Golden Boot this evening.
But Liverpool are not all about Salah. Roberto Firmino has also been incredibly consistent, notching eight goals in his last ten Gameweek starts in what has been his most productive Fantasy campaign.
Meanwhile, Sadio Mane is back in the groove as a goal threat having fired more shots than any Liverpool player in the Gameweek 28 win over West Ham, notching the Reds’ fourth goal.
But it’s a defender who proved the most popular transfer target in the Liverpool camp prior to today’s deadline. Andrew Robertson was picked up by 117,000 new managers and will look to build on his exceptional display against the Hammers last time out. The Scot starts again and has featured in 14 of the last 15 Gameweeks now.
