Have 2FTs, would you do Maupat to Bamford? Also, could move Hamez if he will be confirmed out.

I like Lamptey as a player, but I’m not sure Brighton are going to get enough CS to warrant keeping him. He’s usually on my bench too, but played him this week.

I’d consider the Lamptey upgrade with that 0.5. With such a strong starting 11, you’ve got a very weak bench.

Don't know what to do with TAA and Trossard (waiting for Antonio's injury news before deciding though). In hindsight Chilwell and J. Rodriguez seems to be much better pair and should decide to get them on WC rather than TAA & Trossard. I guess I thought that TAA will outscore Chilwell by higher margin than J.Rod will outscore Trossard. I got carried away by Brighton's form and sympathy to them too it seems. Not sure about selling TAA though. Had he got an assist and Liverpool didn't concede stupid penalty it would be a whole different story now. On the other hand the next couple of fixtures aren't that great from a defense perspective. I would sell Trossard for Pulisic maybe (other ideas?) but that leaves me with 5.1m for a defender. Not convinced that there is anyone worth investing in right now. Lamptey maybe? Zouma? Thoughts?

    Afternoon all.

    McCarthy
    TAA Doherty Digne
    Son Salah James Soucek
    DCL Kane Maupay

Nyland, Justin, Bissouma, Johnson. 1FT. 0.4ITB.

Worst start to a FPL season ever (like most). WC in tact. Feel like my team isn't abysmal but obviously needs work. Digne probably has to be the one to make way this week? For Chilwell, or perhaps someone cheaper (e.g. Masuaku) to get some money ITB?

This captaincy debate is very interesting this week.

We captained Son and Kane en masse vs West Ham at home and it worked out great. And yet a lot of people are jumping ship on captaining Salah/Mane this week with the same fixture because of their blank last week.

Brighton's defensive statistics have been some of the best all season. They've conceded the fewest shots in total and in the box. They play a high energy attacking game. But they are prone to conceding some big chances on the break which does bode well for Son/Kane.

That said, West Ham have also been very good defensively. However, I'm leaning Salah because of how West Ham got dismantled so cleanly by Spurs on the counter. Attacking with speed in transitions is closer to how Pool play compared to City who play a slower build-up style.

Mane and Salah provide a directness that West Ham I don't feel are fully prepared to repel. Especially if Antonio is injured and can't hold up play/press the midfield/CBs.

I don't think it's clear cut. But I am leaning Salah.

Salah is my C(again) this GW.

Brighton don't have Dunk and are a rather naive team. Spurs can destroy them on the counter.

Captained Kane vs West Ham because of the fixture differences, Liverpool being away to Everton
This week it's pretty close and I prefer the Spurs fixture - my only problem is most of my ML don't have Salah and they will all be captaining Kane or Son, so maybe I need to go with Salah if I am to have any hope of making up ground

    9. FPL Theorist
      • 4 Years

Great post, Camzy. The key point is that avoiding a player as captain because you (the generic you) captained them last week and they blanked (despite being very threatening) is just as much of a kneejerk as we see in other aspects of the game, yet it's not widely recognised as such because it doesn't involve a transfer.

Whether Salah is the best captain option this week is not dependent on whether you captained him last week. Two consecutive captain blanks from the same player doesn't make you any more foolish than two consecutive blanks from two different players. Players are not trying to troll their FPL owners; they're trying to score goals, and sometimes they are not successful.

That double KDB blank didn't feel good though ... are you sticking to Kane this week or going back to Salah

        1. FPL Theorist
          • 4 Years

Personally, I'll likely stick with Spurs just because Brighton look likely to concede more. I think Son has earned his way into the mix too, but will take into account what I hear on podcasts between now and the deadline. Just thought the psychological point was worth making.
