Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a two-match ban?

Our Suspension Tightrope article takes a look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players who are nearing a two-match ban for the accumulation of 10 yellow cards.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A PLAYER GETS 10 YELLOW CARDS?

Dennis sent off as Watford collapse in FPL Double Gameweek 23 opener 2

Any Fantasy asset who collects 10 cautions in the Premier League before their team has completed 32 fixtures will serve a two-match ban in the same competition.

Beyond that point, the threshold moves up from 10 to 15 bookings. Anyone reaching that tally will be banned for three matches.

Punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

PLAYERS ON 8/9 YELLOW CARDS

There isn’t a great deal to worry most Fantasy managers just yet, as all of the above players bar Conor Gallagher (£6.1m) have ownerships of under 10% in FPL.

Ruben Neves (£5.3m) and Junior Firpo (£4.7m) are two of the three players on nine cautions although are both currently flagged with injury anyway.

Tyrone Mings (£5.0m) joined them on the precipice in Gameweek 30 and has matches against Wolves and Spurs to negotiate before he is on safe ground.

Matthew Cash (£5.3m), the second-most-bought defender of the previous Gameweek, is among the cluster of FPL assets who are two cautions away from the unwanted target.

Bench fodder options like Josh Brownhill (£4.3m), Oriol Romeu (£4.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£4.4m) are also part of this group on eight bookings, along with Crystal Palace’s Gallagher.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

As we mentioned in the introduction, the yellow card threshold is raised to 15 after a team’s 32nd league fixture.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Gameweek 32, however. In fact, for many clubs, this will mean Gameweek 33 or later due to the backlog of postponed fixtures:

As Cash owner I am slightly worried. However, I think that I'll just keep him and hope for the best. But it would be annoying to bench and to see him suspended when I need him. However, I could afford him to Robbo for free. Other possibility is to upgrade Kilman to R James. Third option would be downgrading Broja to Cucho to afford Robbo for Kilman. I don't like my options atm tbh.

First wildcard draft for GW31, thoughts? Pending fitness of flagged players etc

    Ramsdale Foster
    Trent Cancelo James Livra Burn
    Salah Havertz Foden Ramsay Gordon
    Weghorst DCL Kane

Would be looking to get rid of Gordon & Weghorst very quickly, possibly also DCL - and no I'm not sold on 2x Everton but it's a fixture thing I guess.

BB is played so no need to worry about the Bench being dry

I wouldn't have DCL personally, pricey and doing badly. Rest looks good though.

I would 100% have a 4.5m fodder forward if on WC.

The money is so wasted upfront.
      DCL + Burn or Robertson + 4.5m? I don't think that's close at all.

You've an eye on the doubles for Weghorst and DCL but neither in good form. They could be twice as bad that GW! One to Gelhardt and a form striker.

Still have 2FH left. Seems automatic to use one of it in GW33 but the other is up for grabs. GW36 will be massive so likely scenario is that team will be in good shape with few transfers. GW37 might be handy for second FH, what do you think? Many in similar shoes?

I haven't quite ruled out 36 - even though there's doubles for most good sides, the fixtures for Spurs (liv ARS) & Wolves (che mci) arent great so FHing out of Kane, Sa etc could be an option. But also depends on which of top 3 are still in UCL.

Other way round for me. I'm saving FH for GW37, which will probably give me the opportunity to field 11 DGWers that GW, and up to 15 DGWers on BB the week before because I won't have to worry about GW37 fixtures when setting up my BB in GW34 or 35.

Have FH and TC left, going to make transfers as follows then decide on FH33 or FH36 depending how team looks when we get there.

Only have Saka, Ramsdale, Dubravka and Livramento with Doubles in 33 so far AND Coutinho, Ramsey & Jimi that blank

GW31 - Bring in a Burnley player for their Double given they also double in DGW33 and probably take a hit for an Everton player given they have a Double and 2 more yet to be arranged.
    GW32 - Bring in a DGW33 player
GW33 - add another if not FH'ing, or bring in a TC player if I don't own him already

And he is being expensive. Most have Ramsdale, and perhaps starting gk also, so it would have to be Ramsdale to Pope and then perhaps back, which is two transfers. I guess I'll be just starting Dubravka.

If Manchester City get their usual 5 nil win over Burnley you're basically adding appearance points, if any, to their second game.

I'm not convinced either Burnley or Everton merit interest for the dgw.

Who are teh obvious Captain targets for DGW33 if I play my TC chip?

Sancho, Ronaldo, Bruno - hit & miss form
Vardy - will he be back from injury and on form?
    Saka - seems safest punt

WC34, BB36 is a common idea but I've found something interesting.

You must sacrifice Kane if you want to BB.

We know that Liverpool, City and Chelsea will almost certainly double in 36. That means that I would want at least 7 players from these teams going into GW36.

Must have: TAA, Salah, Cancelo, one City mid
    Very likely: Havertz, Robertson, James
Optional: 2nd City mid, Mount, Diaz, Matip, Rudiger

You cannot get 7 of those and have Kane and bench boost. It's just not doable it doesn't matter how high your TV is. You'll end up requiring fodder that can't be BB'd.

WC'ing and not keeping Kane is scary... How important do you think Kane is for the run-in? Is it worth using BB in 33 instead so that you can keep him on WC and run with a fodder forward?

    1. Baps hunter
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 6 Years

I would rather waste that BB than go without Kane. Just split him and fodder to two players even for -4 before BB.

Kane is so expensive that you can't even do that.

Kane (12.5) + 4.5m fodder costs 2m more than say Watkins + Richarlison for BB in 36.

Kane has a very poor (projected) double as well: liv ARS. Shifting funds from him to City is one the main reasons I'm keeping FH36 an option. The SGW fixtures for Spurs are so good that I'm not keen on going without for any wider stretch

I dunno Kane is kinda fixture proof imo.

I definitely wouldn't be unhappy playing him in GW36.

Kane by all metrics is a perfect pick for the rest of the season. But the problem is you can't BB with him. If you do try to BB with him, you end up sacrificing very high upside picks from the top 3 sides with better doubles and I know I'd rather have say:

Havertz, Foden, Robertson, Watkins than a combination like Fofana, Gordon, Maddison and Kane.

Yeah I certainly dont mind playing him in any fixture (actually bought him the week of the City/Burnley double), but if the title race is still open I would probably prefer to put a seriously hefty chunk of my FH budget in Liverpool & City triple ups (even more so if they get knocked out of UCL)

Alright if you insist on splitting hairs...

But yeah, Kane for the rest of this season at least has good games until the end. The one week he plays a tough team in GW36 he will most likely have 2 games.

Why is that? Considering the fixtures, I won't need my double Arsenal, double Spurs and double Leicester in 36. Best to FH that GW and BB in 37 with those players.

Leicester will double in 36 and so will Spurs. Just use it in 36.

BB36, FH37 I can understand. But not the other way around.

Certainly food for thought especially as that's the WC34 & BB36 strategy I'm aiming for. I've only considered transfers and dead ending up until 33.

I already have Schmeichel and Dubravka as keepers, so that makes it a little easier.

My bench is likely going to look something like this:

Schmeichel (new, eve), Doherty (NEW), Schär (LEI, CRY), Kulusevski (NEW)

          Likely good enough, no?

I can get to this with just a -4:

            Ramsdale*
            Cancelo Livra* Fofana*
            Fernandes* Saka* Maddison* Sancho*
            Lacazette* Weghorst* Kane

One option is to sacrifice another premium player or Kane himself for BB36.

Of course you'll want two FT and possibly take a hit.

They'll be an injury or something to respond to most likely that will alter the template squad structure in the next 6 game weeks, with all that knockout Cup football.

That's my thinking, a bit of pragmatism as well as planning.

They will most likely double in 36.

I'm not saying Kane is a bad option at all. He's a great one but he's too expensive to make a good BB side in 36 AND have strong Chelsea, City and Liverpool coverage.

I’ve used my WC so slightly different scenario but I will be almost certainly BB36 with Kane.

I agree you have the make the sacrifices somewhere but the title race will drive that.

It could be all but over by 36 in which case either City or Liverpool assets may be less attractive.

Wilcard 34 including Kane Up front
      35 Roll Transfer
36 - Kane to Vardy/Lacazette, upgrade elsewhere (probably Bowen in Midfield from fodder)
      BENCH BOOST
37 - take a -4 to get Kane back alonside another player in.it is possible.

To be honest, the gamble of holding chips has not paid off, never been an easier last 8 games to navigate without chips, but can only play what is in front of us.

FH 33, WC 34 BB 36 is still my plan, but will review after the international break.

Fellow Son and Kane owners, what is your plan now? I can't see myself selling either now, but getting heavy enough defense is causing me some headache. I really would want Robbo, but if I get him I don't have funds to upgrade likes of Raphinha.

    1. DARK SIDE OF THE LOON

I am keeping both and planning this for a BB37.

      Pope Guita
      TAA Cancelo James White Fofana
      Salah Son Barnes Saka Ramsey
      Kane Cucho Gelhardt

I never planned to keep both beyond this week, felt it was a bit too expensive. It doesnt really affect my defence (TAA Cancelo James Tierney Doherty) but does price me out of Sancho, Havertz & Mahrez and gives me an inflexible, almost ghost team structure of:
      Salah Son Saka Martinelli 6.5
      Kane
But now I'm wondering if sticking with triple Spurs & Arsenal is the safer bet than going after rotation-prone City & Chelsea assets. One to ponder over the break...

Is upgrading Raph for you a necessity? I would be unsure, could go Leicester/Arsenal mid with that slot.

I'm going for two premium mids (and Kane) along side Saka/Martinelli at the moment. Will miss out on likes of Mahrez/Havertz but I am prioritising heavy defence/three big hitters

keeping, i'd like Robbo too but he is just too expensive to go along with TAA + Salah so i settled for Matip, like everybody else with Kane/Son/Salah i'll be playing 451 mostly with a bunch of mid priced midfielders which for me atm is Saka/Coutinho/Raph, there is plenty of value in that price range as i only recently sold Maddison & Bowen both of whom served me well and are easy to reach price wise in this structure

this will be me next gw

      Pickford
      TAA, Cancelo, Doherty, Matip
      Salah, Son, Coutinho, Saka, Raphina
      Kane

Foster, Broja, Ait Nouri, Gelhardt 0.3itb

Ugh! Earlier today someone posted a link to a Twitter feed that showed how many games each team would have each week to season end. For games yet to be rearranged it used some probability analytics so a team might have 1.42 games in a week.

I can't find it now! Can someone please post the link again?

There are only a few essential things imo.

      1. United attacker (Sancho/Fernandes) for captaincy
      2. Leicester mid (Maddison/Barnes)
      3. Saka and ideally triple Arsenal which most people already have from GW30

      1. lilmessipran

I think they are because of captaincy. NOR at home is still the best fixture available and they have a second bonus game vs Liverpool.

Who would you captain if not United? Liverpool, City and Chelsea have SGWs and play the UCL QF 2nd leg the midweek before. I wouldn't trust a Leicester or Newcastle attacker with captaincy.

More or less the same as Camzy. If I bring in Sancho & Maddison/Barnes, I don't see much reason to FH. Getting Dubravka over Sa/Sanchez would be desirable but prob not worth the -4/FH

    Any advice here. Thinking either-
    1. Dead end to 32, FH 33 + WC 34.
    2. WC now for 31 through 36 mainly (excluding 33 for FH).

    Will need to monitor Ramsdale/TAA/Raphinha.

    Ramsdale.
    TAA, Cancelo, Doherty, Saiss.
    Salah (c), Barnes, Kulusevski, Raph.
    Kane (vc), Laca.
    Bach, Tierney, Ramsey, King.
    1ft, 0.8m ITB.
    WC + 1 FH left.

    Something like this.
    Pope (Filler).
    Robbo, Cancelo, James/Laporte, White, 4.2.
    Son, Salah, Saka, Barnes, Gordon.
    Kane, Broja, Cucho.
    0.0m with this.
