The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

Repost. Would really appreciate some help with this team. I've got 2 FTs and nada in the bank. I've got my WC to play in GW34.

    Myhill
    Bertrand Clyne Dawson (PVA) (Naughton)
    Haz Sanchez Erikson Silva
    Kun Kane(c) Giroud

I need to sort out Naughton but it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a punt or two since I'm WC'ing in 2 weeks. What do you think?

Res motivation v Austin, Benteke, Kane -

League is won. Hazard, Drogba, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar etc more than capable of scoring goals.

Kane, Benteke, Austin, promary goal source, need goals not only for points but goal difference to qualify for Europe/ stay up. An extra transfer for a bonus game might not be such a bonus.

    Myhill - Pantilimon
van Aanholt - Alderweireld - Wollscheid - Clyne - Dawson
    Hazard - Sánchez - Silva - Boyd - Eriksen
    Austin - Agüero - Kane

2 FT, £1.5m in the bank, WC in GW34.

Happy enough in defence so want to focus transfers in attack.

    Should I

    b) sell Austin

Your team is very similar to mine and you have identified the same two weak links I have been looking at. In my case I'll probably have to shift Austin for GW33 purposes, but you have a little more leeway. Austin is performing OK and we know he can score against Chelsea. Eriksen is not performing very well, but his fixtures are kinder.

In your shoes I might still lean towards removing Austin because it will give you more options for next week.

      B with WC, IMO.

Only milfs I'd punt on right now have a blank next week (Pool milf, Arsenal milf), unless you rate Mane (HUL, sto) . To a lesser extent, Siggy is viable (EVE, lei), albeit a better punt for next week considering Everton's improved defensive form.

Forwards I think are better to punt on for this week and looking into the next, Murray (sun, WBA). Remy as a one weaker vs qpr (to Lukaku next week perhaps?). Or maybe a less a tempting Berahino/Ideye (LEI, cpl), they have the best attacking fixtures here IMO, but are hampered with the weaker individual forward appeal.

Could go Remy here, then do A (YYT perhaps) and Remy out to Murray/Luakaku next week.
Only problem there is that it propitious you from taking a punt on the likes of Everton defense (BUR), or an attacking Dann vs (WBA). Like you said though, these are definitely less fruitful than using the three trannies on attackers strictly these next two.

So just B this week IMO.

They were.. but credit to Burnley imo. Teally tough place to go, which is why im conscious about Arsenal vs them. There fighting for survival and are quite a well organised team with great work ethic. Arsenal are awesome at the minute but surely cant keep winning in such fashion. Think last gw might have been more burnley doing things well over spurs being so poor. Hard game.

Yeah, It pains me to say it as a Blackburn fan but Burnley look a good tight knit bunch of lads...

As for Arsenal I think they are absolutely outstanding right now. Chelsea can count themselves fortunate that Arsenal had so many injuries earlier on in the season....they would have given them a real run for their money otherwise.

Ahh I see. Then I'd stick with Kane if you think your rival will go Hazard. Sanchez's points last week were from a long shot and a pass before Giroud's long shot and perhaps not indicative of him returning to form just yet. Plus Sturridge isn't even nailed on to start with his constant injuries...

What do you guys think on this:

Using one of my two free transfers to shift Naughton:

    Naughton > Ivanovic

    Panti (Myhill)
Terry Clyne Ivanovic ( PvA Yun)
    Hazard Silva Mata Eriksen (Boyd)
    Aguero Kane Giroud

Loks real nice to me. Unless Austin or someone scores on CHE.

    Choose 1 to bench:

    Alexis Haz Sterling Silva Eriksen
    Gomis Giroud Kane

    I'm thinking Gomis or Eriksen?

Some input here from the great minds of FFS would be appreciated. 2 FTs, 1.1 banked.
Will WC after the blank. Current lineup for GW 32:

    Panti
    Reid Bellerin Verthongen
    Haz (C) Alexis Silva Phillips
    Kun Kane (VC) Benteke
    Krul Wolly JWP Jones

    Current lineup for GW33:

    Krul (TOT) (krul)
Verthongen (new) Wolly (SOT) Jones (che) (Reid-city)
Silva (WHU) Haz (UTD) JWP (sto) (Phillips*, Alexis*)
    Aguero (WHU) Kane (new) (benteke*)

So with GW 33 in mind and 3 FTs im prob best off getting one def, mid and forward. Thinking this gameweek do Benteke + Jones to Remy + Alderweireld and then Phillips to one of the CPL mids next week and roll the dice with JWP/Reid.

    What do you think guys?

    Thanks

1FT and £2.0m in the bank. Will be using WC in GW34, so I have 2FT to use in the next 2 weeks. So either both next week for one week punts or one this week one next. Any ideas lads? Thanks

    Myhill
    Clyne Ivanovic Bellerin
    Hazard Eriksen Silva Cazorla
    Kane Aguero Remy

Bench - (Foster) Dawson, Naughton, Ameobi

I'm a touch worried as I feel really happy with my team. This normally results in a debacle.
is this good to go or do subs need reorganization?
    Adrian
    Ivan. Kos. Clyne
    Sanchez. Hazard. Eriksson. Silva
    Kane (c). Remy. Benteke

    Krul | dann. Phillips. Pva

Has anyone actually seen a quote from Mourhino saying Remy will start ahead of Drogba now Costa is out?

I know he has said he owes Remy more game time, but that is not the same as starts. What he has said is: "If he [Costa] is injured then we have Remy, we have (Didier) Drogba. We never cry about injured players."

I have seen it said by some on here that Drogba has an ankle problem, but can anyone point me to a source for that? The last mention I've found of Drogba having an ankle injury dates back to December.

He hasn't mentioned anything but one can safely assume Remy is first choice over Drogba

I think drogba is unlikely to ever be the starting man up top again unless it's a nothing game When the league is done

Thousands are transferring him out, jovetic and bony are doubt's which means pellegrini should play him as a lone striker again with Silva behind him( why he ever stopped that formation we will never know), combined with a leaky united back line.........who is captaining aguero with me, goalfest in the Manchester derby I believe

          I don't think hazard really.
It's just there's no way he'll bench fab, haz or caz so might as well have just asked Siggy or downing
