The Stock Check – Gameweek 33 – Sunday

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is benched for the first time this term as a pair of Man United differentials stake a claim for double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa disappoints again as the transfers out build, while Roberto Firmino’s climb up the FPL leaderboard continues.

On the Rise

Ander Herrera
With double Gameweek 34 just around the corner, the Spaniard picked the perfect time to deliver a season-high FPL haul thanks to a goal and assist in United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Herrera – who has started all but one of the league matches he has been available for since Gameweek 12 – also provided an assist away to Sunderland in the previous fixture, marking the first time this term he has produced consecutive returns.

With just three assists to his name prior to that Black Cats encounter, though, it’s fair to say that Herrera has been far from prolific.

Clearly, he remains a gamble but, at just 6.3 and owned by less than 1% of managers, could be worth a flutter as United prepare to face Burnley and Man City next time out.

Marcus Rashford
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic shifted to the bench, the United youngster’s pace through the middle proved the undoing of Chelsea’s defence as he bagged an early opener against the league leaders.

After failing to score since Gameweek 6, Rashford has now notched in back-to-back league outings, having also found the net against Sunderland last time out.

While it seems unlikely that Rashford will retain a central role at the expense of Ibrahimovic, it’s worth noting that he has now started four of United’s last five league fixtures ahead of the double.

Like Herrera, he would be a somewhat risky selection, yet a 6.5 price tag may appeal as a cheap third forward if you’re willing to roll the dice.

Roberto Firmino
Overlooked by the recent clamour for the services of team-mate Philippe Coutinho, Firmino climbed to fifth in the FPL midfield standings by firing the only goal of Liverpool’s 1-0 win at West Brom.

Shrugging off his manager’s suggestions of tiredness, Firmino – along with Coutinho – returned to the starting XI after being utilised off the bench at Stoke City last week.

The former Hoffenheim man has now registered points in each of his last six league outings, serving up three goals and four assists over that stretch to emerge as the Reds’ top scoring FPL asset.

There’s no doubt that the lack of a double Gameweek clearly limits Liverpool’s appeal. Yet owners who have already played their second wildcard may well decide to hold, given his form and fixtures to follow – up next, clashes against Crystal Palace, Watford, Southampton, West Ham and Middlesbrough hand Firmino the chance to maintain his most consistent run of the season.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
In light of his manager’s conflicting comments, there still remains some doubt as to why the veteran was named on the bench today.

In the build-up to the match, we had Ibrahimovic admitting he was tired during Thursday’s Europa League clash with Anderlecht.

After announcing his teamsheet, Mourinho then backed that up by saying Ibrahimovic was named on the bench as he was “tired, very tired”.

However, the United manager’s post-match comments put a different slant on the situation ahead of double Gameweek 34.

Mourinho indicated he had copied the same tactics used against Chelsea in a recent FA Cup fixture – a match that Ibrahimovic was suspended for. To add a further twist, he then went back on his pre-match words by saying:

“Maybe we didn’t rest. Maybe we just chose the team that we thought was the best team.”

If it was no more than tactics, that Mourinho simply looked for Rashford’s speed to trouble the Blues’ back-three, then today’s teamsheet may ultimately prove no bad news for Ibrahimovic’s owners ahead of the double, considering he was afforded just eight minutes.

Regardless, it would be remiss not to include him in this section, if only to acknowledge that this was the first time he failed to start a league match that he was available for since joining the club.

Certainly, today’s events haven’t deterred would-be investors from making the leap – Ibrahimovic is the number one transfer target ahead of United’s double, with over 23,000 new owners since yesterday.

Ahead of those two fixtures – against Burnley and Man City – it’s the Turf Moor trip that remains the potential rotation hotspot for United’s assets. While Rashford’s performance would have demonstrated that Mourinho could possibly have the option of resting Ibrahimovic before the derby clash, the fact that United are now still very much in touch with the top four perhaps reduces that risk.

Diego Costa
The out-of-sorts Chelsea striker shipped more than 121,000 FPL owners heading into Gameweek 33 – more than any player.

This afternoon’s blank against United extended Costa’s wretched run to just two goals in his last ten league appearances, as a third yellow card in five underlined his frustration and left the Spain international’s 31.5% owners with a single FPL point for their troubles.

With Harry Kane looking irresistible and double Gameweek 34 forwards on the agenda, Costa – with just three shots on target in his last four outings – is set for significant sales once again as we freshen up our three-man frontlines.

Indeed, the exodus has continued at pace since yesterday – he is again the most transferred out forward, jettisoned by a further 14,000+ former owners.

Gareth McAuley
Sold by more than 44,000 FPL managers last week, the Irishman remains subject to a major exodus due to the Baggies’ upcoming blank Gameweek 34.

The number one transferred out defender since yesterday’s deadline by some distance, McAuley – owned by over 32% – has already earned over 9,000 sales.

Clearly, there’s a growing worry that, with their safety secured, Tony Pulis’ side are already on the beach – they have managed just one clean sheet in nine and scored in only one of their previous seven.

Furthermore, McAuley’s goal threat has all but evaporated – the Irishman has failed to register a single attempt in his last seven league outings.

Granted, he did, nonetheless, play from start to finish after failing to last 60 minutes in the previous two fixtures.

Yet with a far from favourable double Gameweek 37 against Chelsea and Man City to follow, the Baggies defender could now play a peripheral part in our thinking from this point onwards.

I know, but in the big double I can save like 3 million by having 11 good dgw starters to 15 good starters and as man u Chelsea Tottenham city and Arsenal all have a double gameweek the will be the 11 I'm choosing from.

I know that with WC planned in GW36 all hits are short term and that should be put in consideration. I already convinced myself that Llorente-->Benteke is worth -4 and there is more pros than cons to do it.

But how about Jaku-->Valdes for another -4? Do u think it could pay off? Already have Gibson for Boro defence cov, but dont mind to double.

Also Zaha, Bailly and Ibra for DGW already in the team.

I dont think its worth for Lukaku. Rom can destroy WHU even away. Kane is still chasing him for golden boot, and that boot is the last motivation for him this season. 🙂

I got Ibra a couple gw's back for Costa but eventually still going Kane-less and that scares me. I guess Im getinv Harry only on GW36 wc so need two big sofas for two gameweeks.

Kane is on board, I was surely doing Ibra to Kaku for next week ...but after his rotation not sure if he will get more pts than Rom.
At least Gibson is surely playing for Boro and their next matches are nice for clean sheet.. The other one I was thinking was going Siggy to Zaha...but Swansea have a nice match.
        Your suggestion? 🙂

Is this for a FT or a hit?

I hate to hate Siggy but I hate him. 🙂 hes such a wonderful player but Swans are so bad and he cant do any damage reacently. I rage-transfered him last week for Zaha and I think I would do the same in your place.

And who is tour third striker? I understand it couldnt be upgraded to Ibra, but maybe to Benteke?

It is my free transfer. As for Siggy Im keepin because his match looks nice and Zaha has difficult oponents next. So either Ibra comes for Kaku or Baines transforms to Gibson. I will have only two DGW players if I dont do additional transfers - Valencia and Ibra/Gibson. ...Somehow I dont feel this DGW 34 has matches that deserve minus points ...

I guess if u getting Ibra for Lukaku you should also captain the big swede and hope for the best. 🙂

But I personally would stick to Kaku. Especially if you burned your WC already.

WildCard will be used in 36 so I dont have a problem if Ibra comes for three matches. The matches arent so bad - Burnley City away and Swansea home. The rotation is waht bothers me

Rotation bothers me too, Ibra looked as sure GW34 captain, but now my mind is messed up again. Mourinho is going all Pep with rotation and its annoying but I can understand it. EL trophy could be more realistic than top-4 but then they beat Chealsea today and everything is unknown again. 😀

Anderlecht win this week would be wonderful from FPL perspective. 😀

    Hi all,

Zaha or Redmond? - Tempted to go Zaha then Redmond to get the Zaha DGW, not sure if worth it though.

Similar with Zlat, was planning on getting him in for DGW & triple captain then get Kane in, now unsure what to do with Zlat after today - will he start both games in DGW - starting to look unlikely 🙁

Doing both in for 1 week then transfer out after will probably cost me at least 4 points, so unsure if worth it!

    Any suggestions?

    P.s. I've 2 free transfers this week.

Would wait with redmond until 35, and not sure about ibra myself. Think I'll maybe get kane instead of him, but would mean Walker out for -4

1FT and so many options ahead of DGW**

    Foster - Heaton
    Alonso - Valencia** - Gibson** - Friend** - Amat
    Alli - Eriksen - Siggy - Tadic - Capoue
    Lukaku - Kane - Benteke**

Happy to take a hit, but where would you prioritise:
    — Ibra a must?
    — Zaha or Townsend? (For Siggy, Tadic, or even Capoue then AOA)
    — Palace defence? (maybe Hennessey for Foster)

      - I'd want Ibra
      - Zaha
      - I wouldn't, but Hennessey if you do

    Which -8 should I do?

    A) Lukaku, Llorente and Alonso --> Ibra, Benteke and Barragan
    B) Eriksen, Llorente and Alsonso --> Ibra, Zaha and Barragan

To the punters out there I have an accy running atm, £86 cash out for a £15 bet, still have 3 teams left to play, all 3 at home and hot favourites.

    Bolton v's Bury
    Rochdale v's Coventry
    Scunthorpe v's Chesterfield

If they all win it's £335 do I let it run?

the other option I was thinking was to cash out, taking £20 of the profit and sticking and sticking it on the same 3 for about £115 return "if" it came in.. that way the worst scenario is £50 profit and stake back, best scenario £180 if they came in.

Regardless about what I think of the outcomes of the matches you gave left why cash out ? If you cash out it implies that you have no faith in the bet you placed at the start.
For what it's worth Bolton players will want the win , Chesterfield are crap . The tricky one is Rochdale.

In Lukaku's 7 PL games with Everton against WH, he has scored in every single match, but only just once on each occasion. He has also had an assist in a couple of the games, and one missed penalty in the home fixture last year.

I am keeping him for next week I will probably get Ibra to have a front line of Lukaku Kane and Ibra.

I have no idea who to captain yet it is a bit of a minefield.

    Pick one to bench:
    King (MID)
    Coutinho (CRY)
    Eriksen (cry)

    Madness wanting to play King?

For those using a week 36 Wildcard....
Week 34 is filled with injury issues and rotation issues... so Man U has away Burnley and City and home Swansea over the next three before week 36
Does this make DeGea potentially the best option to get? Two cleanies in there!

Hopefully I can afford to keep him under WC, others I'm planning to keep are

        King (Price, Form and Fixtures)
Jak (ultra budget keeper with decent fixtures)

Away form and fixtures go against Kaku IMO.

      Kaku no doubt.

One of Cout/Firm maybe? But would be hard to fit a Liverpool mid on GW37 with Sanchez, Haz, Alli/Erik and other less expensive DGW'ers?

Firmino before Coutinho everytime I reckon, my minds made up on that one now.
Coutinho just gets one pretty goal every so often from outside the box, gets subbed and wrapped in cotton wool after scoring one goal, injury prone, not consistent

Just Lukaku & Holgate for me

      GW36 WC team

      Pickford Foster

      Alonso - Mustafi - Yoshida - Clichy - Holgate*

      Sanchez - Redmond - Alli - Sane - Eriksen

      Lukaku* - Kane - Gabbiadini

0.2m to spare, will change a player if price changes for -0.3m or more
