FPL Question Time: Consult our panel ahead of 2018/19 season

Fantasy Football Scout are giving you the opportunity to ask questions of our esteemed panel of FPL personalities ahead of the 2018/19 season.

If you are stuck on a particular issue and want some external input then this is your chance to get the feedback you need.

We’ve assembled a panel of four this week and will be bringing you a different set for each Gameweek over the course of the season.

James Egersdorff – You can’t get much more experienced than this man when it comes to FPL. After yet another season inside the top 5,000 managers in 2017/18, James now sits top of the Fantasy Football Scout ‘Hall of Fame’.

Chief #FPL Manager – This man has finished inside the top one percent six times in his career as a Fantasy manager and is one of the biggest influencers in the FPL Twitter-sphere

      The main Chelsea striker vs the weakest team in this year's PL is a nice differential for the first game. And with Sarri potentially playing much more offensive, he may get a few goals by just standing in the box. A risk of course but less boring than the usual template.

    Okay so after thinking I had a settled team it comes down to these two choices.

    King or Richarlison

    Aguero or Aubameyang

    first one will mean a 5.5 alternative in either midfield or attack; second is a straight swap (obviously). What's peoples thoughts?

      Aguero the saver choice and better fixtures. It's just whether he is fit and not fat after that terrible world cup. City mids do better long term and there is Jesus as well.

      Auba is great as well, it's just the rough start.

      I'm going Auba, but Arsenal fan here so there you go.

      The only reason I'd choose King over Richarlison is due to the fact that the 5.5 FWDs are very bad value. Both will probably get similar returns (maybe 100-140 pts) and start off well.

      I'd go for Aubameyang too, since he doesn't have as much of a rotation risk. If you look at Agüero's points history however, you can actually see that he's not that essential. 169pts last season and I don't see that increasing tbh. At least 10 pemium MIDs and DEFs will score higher this season. Aubameyang will have the chance to score 200+ I think

      Investing in premium MIDs and DEFs is definitely the better choice if you have Salah (obvs captain choice for most GWs). I would still get one of Agüero or Aubameyang however. Then maybe just one other mid price FWD; other 4.5-5m bench player

    If you are planning on having Salah and having him as captain every week is it worth having one or two other heavy hitters (kane, Kun, Auba etc) due to only getting single points from them. Or is it better to spread the wealth around the team. example kane 12.5 mill and cedric 4.5 mill and stephens 4.5 mill or is it better to have Arnie 7 mill and mendy 6 silva 8.5 mill?

      The latter but you still have to pick value at those price points.

      It might be questionable to pick Siggy over Richarlison/Walcott for example.

      Play around with your team and see what you can put together with just Salah. I like to have one other big hitter just to have a second captain option. I'll probably have Salah plus one of Kun or Auba.

      I have a bit of a self-imposed rule that I won't own a player above 9.5 if I'll never captain him. To repay the value you'd lose from the rest of the team demands the armband on occasion I think.

      No best to have a good mix of highly owned players and proven past fpl performers. Try and keep the punts those that played in latter stages of world cup players and pre-season wonders to 2-3 players max

        Whilst you are correct, Costa has played more minutes in pre-season than anyone else. And has arguably been their best player.

        Last season he was rotated with Cavallero. Today, he stayed on whilst Jota was substituted for Cavallero. The season before, he was Wolves's player of the year.

            To be honest, I have been stalking him a little bit recently (in an fpl way - I haven't harmed any of his pets).

            For the price, I see a huge amount of potential upside as a 4th/5th midfielder. It wasn't too long ago that Arsenal and Chelsea were interested in him.

            I'm actually currently on him AND Jota as 4th and 5th midfielders. Unleash them on that Everton defence and take it from there....

        Yeah, I didn't know much about Sarri then but as Klopp showed, you have got to go at City to beat them. Think with Sarri, they will try to do that. I liked Conte but he was disappointingly poor in the matches against City, offering no attack whatsoever.

      If Luiz is first choice I would say no but going wirh Azpi myself, can downgrade later to any defender if needs be
