After to-ing and fro-ing between Tosun and Arnie over the last week, I've been unimpressed by Everton's lack of pre-season form / problems adapting to Silva's style and by Arnie's move back to attacking midfield. It now seems that I've settled on Josh King for the first 5 GWs (CAR wha EVE che LEI) - have I completely lost the plot?

Interesting - Bournemouth are a well-settled attacking team, and with West Ham, Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal all hard to predict I'll stick with stability for now.

My thoughts exactly. He scored 4 on the bounce - maybe the manager saw all he needed too. He's not in my team ATM because he's been dropped back.

    4. It's only Carlton Cole…
      • 14 Years

I'm thinking the same. However I've stuck with Arnie.

I don't think West Ham will line up as aggressive against the harder teams (which west ham play a lot in the first few GWs) so I think Arnie will play upfront. But most importantly that 0.5 saving on King I'd spend in defence. At 6.5m King is not as flexible as Arnie.

I think that there are a so many cheapish strikers who could get 12-15 goals this season that it makes choosing very difficult. I'm on Mitrovic because his career stats are very good apart from Newcastle, where he wasn't the main man. He is again now. I'm just resigned to the 4 red cards he'll pick up..

Problem here is King may also not be a striker - at least in his own opinion. May end up Wood is the better option - or even Zaha - all 4 have their downsides.

    Ederson
    Azpilicueta / Davies / Robertson / Tomkins

    Hi,
I know there’s not been a lot of talk about draft leagues this pre season but I quite enjoyed it last time so I’ve set one up. It would be cool to get a league of people together that take it seriously!
If anyone fancies joining the code is 207948-51831. There’s a maximum of 10 spaces and the draft is 15.30 today.
    Cheers!

Hello everyone. What are everyone's thoughts on Bellerin? I've picked a team that I am happy with, but there's a nagging doubt about young Hector B in my mind. If he keeps his place and Arsenal are better defensively then he could be great value, but he didn't look great last season...

I've got him and plan to bench him for the first couple. I have a 4.5 with decent enough fixtures to cover him. My early transfers are usually aimed at getting a price rise or 2, so don't really want to be using a transfer to add him in.

I think so. I usually end up WCing at around week 3 anyway, so there's plenty of exciting short term options this year. That said, I've gone for a team where I shouldn't need to WC early this season.

If Hazard goes, he gets the left-attacking position to himself, with Hudson-Odoi as understudy.

If not, he's arguably fighting with Morata/Batshuayi/Giroud for a striker spot, or being an impact sub.

Unless he can adapt to right-wing, then it's Willian and Pedro he'll be fighting.

Morata is an unbelievable diff for the start. People think he looks slightly sluggish in pre season but what they may not realise is the fact he's been doing double training sessions away from the group including match days. This is what Sarri does with his strikers. Next week he'll resume normal training and come gw1 he will explode.

No, but in the final climatic battle between good and evil, the killing blow deflected off Gareth Macauley's head

Aguero and Arnie locked in my team. Can't decide whether to add Auba and play 3-4-3 with cheaper players elsewhere, or play 3-5-2 with money spread around. For example:

    A. With Auba: TAA, Digne, Cairney, Masuaku
    B. Without Auba: Robertson, Coleman, Ramsey, Pedro

(Rambo only if fit to play)

I'd just like to quiz any knowledgeable gooners about their new manager and his thinking. Does he have a preferred system? I havnt read much about Arsenal if im being honest. The reason being is Mhki, and hes taking up a spot in my midfield. With Ramseys knock is Mhki likely to get early game time? Id hope he could lock down a starting berth.

I’m not a gunner but only thing I bet heard is he like rotating his full backs so maybe a defence to avoid as they looked like strangers in pre season

Think I’ve decided to go 442 over 343, had King as my third striker but just downgraded to a 4.5m (Kamara) and used the extra 2 mil to upgrade 2 defenders. I suppose the only downside is Kamara probably won’t play much. Thoughts?

If your going to early wildcard fill your bench with fodder.
Peltier AWB Stephens for example all fodder but will play if needed.
If your planning to stick with a team and just add the likes of Kane or Bobby in then maybe a more all rounded squad now would be the way to go.

Pretty amazing that for 29m you can get a starting Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool striker.

I had a dream last night that you could get a 3rd choice keeper for 3m oh how I could do with a £101m budget

I’ve been tinkering too much; this morning decision could you some perspective, please vote:

    A) Aub, Zaha, Arni & Dilva

    B) Kun, king, Mitrovic & Sánchez

      • 7 Years
      5 years, 8 months ago

      A for me;
Kun and Jesus who will start
      King ok but not prolific
Mitrovic a punt at this level
Sanchez well is at United, I’m
United fan and avoiding our players atm.

        Thanks

I could upgrade Mitrovic to Zaha as B has 0.5mil ITB

Big Aub fan, don’t really want to take him out

I prefer B, but I'd maybe swap Kun and Auba.

I worry how unsettled Zaha is and whether D Silva is going to play less this season.

1 If TAA starts season would you pick him over Robertson/VVD or is it worth paying 1 m more for one of them?

2 Is Groß a good 7 m option? Not mentioned a lot here and will still be key player for Brighton or are fixtures putting people off

    1. Spab

I think its because its Brighton. It feels like a lot for a player in a team that could struggle when there are many other good options at the price point. Good differential though.
